Wire only on top 6 & bottom 6

I'm hopefully in the last 2 weeks of treatment & at my last appt (2 weeks ago) my ortho removed the wires from my back teeth (left the brackets on) & left the wires only on the top 6 & bottom 6. Tomorrow i have an appt where i hopefully get fitted for my retainer & then the following week get debraced!
Has anyone heard of removing some but not all of the wires towards the end of treatment?

I haven't heard of this, but I'm thinking it might be possible that he wants your back teeth to settle into each other before you're fitted for the retainer.

I personally think that my midline has shifted. Fortunately I think my teeth haven't moved much.

Definitely ask your ortho about it then. I don't think I'd want to be fitted for a retainer if my teeth had shifted.

I got my bands & back brackets off today!!! My midline wasn't off....just "looks" off due to all the metal in the way. Took molds for my top retainer & am getting a permanent retainer on bottom front 6. I chose a hot pink w/ rainbow glitter glow-in-the dark retainer for the top!! I have to wear it day & night for the first year then just evenings after that. I get the front 6 top & bottom bravkets & wires off on 5 Dec if no teeth move (fingers crossed!) & get my retainers!! YaY, me!! :mrgreen:
