Jessica's Braces Journey

#1 Post by jessicachung »

Hi everyone! I'm turning 25 this year and I decided to finally get braced! :D My teeth is not so bad but i got a bugs tooth, a small gap between and also a little overbite. I wasn't happy with the way I smile and my side profile looks like a monkey. I have decided on upper and lower traditional ceramic braces but I'm not going for clear ligs because I love colors! :P

Anyway, I had my 4 wisdom tooth and 2 upper pre-molars extracted on 10th Jan 2014. I have yet to recover for the numbness of my right tongue and right lower gums. It's already been more then a month. The ortho said it may take 6mth to a year to fully recover. Meanwhile, I need to take Vitamin B to aid in healing. *sigh*

On the 10th February 2014, I had 8 spacers in between my teeth. It didn't hurt until the 3rd day. I couldn't bite down at all and i felt all achy the entire day. It's the 4th day today (v-day) and i'm kinda used to the feeling already but i still can't chew my greens :/ I'm gonna get my molar bands in on 17th Feb 2014 and get braced on 24th and 31st March 2014. It is still some time away....like a waiting game...

Here are the colors my ortho has. I'm thinking of the light blue for my first. What do you all suggest?

I just got my molar bands put on. My mouth feels so weird right now. I can't bite down properly. I keep biting on metal and only the 4 molars meet. Is this suppose to be this way? I can't imagine having to chew on it

I feel uncomfortable more than pain. My pain was like 3/10 for 1day but I feel uncomfortable everytime I smile or open my mouth. I bite my cheeks more then 4times and it bleed badly twice. I guess I will eventually get used to it. Food gets trap there easily too! It'l has been 2weeks since my molar bands and I am hating it.

HI ALL! This is finally my first week in my top braces and my mouth is still trying to adjust to this foreign object. It did hurt for the first 3 days but not anymore.
As you can see I've choose light blue ligs and it's holding up well! I have an obsession to keep my ligs and brackets clean...which i think is good.
I might choose purple or teal on my first adjustment in April.

My appointment for the bottom is on Monday 30th March 2014 which is tomorrow! :D I don't know if i'm looking forward to it because I might need to have molar buildups :/

Very beautiful brackets, Jessica! Those really look great! I should add those to my plan of ligature colors. (So far I want GREEN first as it is my favorite color, then Virginia Tech colors to please my boyfriend, then dark pink just for fun.)

I got my bottom set last week and I am glade I didn't get any ulcers:)
As for the color ligs, it has now turned into mint green because I ate curry puffs:p I kinda like the color now too!:)
If I were to get my ligs changed between appointments, it will cost me S$60 which I find it ridiculous.:(
