@Pjade, if you have spaces they might use powerchains to close them up and then you might get some color if you want some! I really like the way clear brackets look with different lig colors actually. Of course if you want them to stay hidden then they have clear powerchains too :)

Also be careful with those ortho floss picks because that's how I popped off one of my brackets!

@Spotted good to hear from you girl!!! I hope your adjustment goes well :) You never know, they might brace your lowers and then you'll be in just as much frustration and irritation with cleaning as me, mwahahaha!

So I had pain ALL day Monday (I tried to eat a Subway sandwich, was trying to just tough it out and force myself to bite, and started crying halfway through), ALL day Tuesday (I took a lot of ibuprofen), ALL day Wednesday (ditto on the ibuprofen, plus messed with the gums around my lower incisors for several hours because they were feeling swollen - I'm sure me messing with them just prolonged the swelling), and ALMOST all day yesterday.

Today they are minorly achy and it marks the first day I haven't taken any ibuprofen. It was not quite as bad as my first few days in braces, but almost. I REALLY need to order those bite wafers this time!

Also, no noticeable diastema progress yet. I was really hoping for rapid movement like last time. I guess the last 1-1.5 mm will be stubborn.

No, I do not have spaces or gaps in my teeth. I am sure at some point everyone gets the powerchain anyway, right? I am really careful with those ortho picks. I don't use them on all my teeth, just the ones I can easily see and get too. They don't work for all of them. I still have to use the threader and glide floss for some areas that are way too tight. My teeth like to shred floss now but the glide floss is much better.

I think when I get elastics for my bite. I will get something colored, otherwise, people will stare into my mouth thinking that there is something there so if they notice it's there right away, they won't try to figure it out. Who knows, that might happen at my first adjustment.
07/14/14 - 4 spacers put in
07/25/14 - braces top and bottom put in minus 2 molar bands that they couldn't fit
9/11/14 - 2 spacers put in between the bottom back molars
9/19/14 - last 2 bottom molar bands in and all hooked up, new wire, started elastics too
10/14/14 - new square wire change and thick elastics
04/24/17 - braces removed!!!

Wow, alot has happened in 10 weeks. Those powerchains are really working for you. Those gaps are starting to close up nicely.

Thanks y'all! Remember when I complained that I wouldn't get to see any progress for a long time?

The top 4 teeth that have the powerchain on them have been hurting pretty bad for about 48 hours. Maybe it means the diastema will start moving again soon!

Things are so moving along with your treatment well! I am sorry you had that much pain. I hew sugar free orbit. It has helped a lot and one little piece so it relieves some pain but won't get tangled in my braces. My ortho said I could :)

Yeah I am not looking forward to Tuesday and the possibility of lowers put on lol. The hubs keeps teasing me, saying that is what I get for so much progree. It really is. I got and day in my mouth these days. The worst has been the last week. There was a lot of movement to the right to make room for Mortimer. The dental headaches had me in tears and nauseated. Most of the week.

About a week and a half until my next adjustment. I've had pain in my powerchained teeth off and on the whole time this time; before, I would only have pain my first few days. At first I thought it was related to a type of water bottle I was using where you have to bite on the valve to get the water out, but I quit using that more than two weeks ago and then pain is still there intermittently. The last couple of days it's been pretty intense. Hopefully it means movement!

My diastema might have closed the tiniest bit more, but I think most of the progress has been in my laterals both upper and lower. On the upper arch they are snuggled so close to the centrals that I can barely get floss between them and there is now a HUGE, very unsightly gap between the laterals & the canines on both sides. On the bottom arch, the gap on one side is almost totally closed and on the other it's getting pretty close considering how big a gap was there before!

Idk if I said this before but I'm planning on changing out my purple powerchains for something brighter. I'm thinking ROYAL BLUE maybe? I want something very visible, because I feel that my current color is not visible enough so that people can tell it's purple - it just makes my brackets look nice and big and clunky :P

Today was my adjustment and it was a doozy! It was an hour long. I went to a new wire which is square (apparently the last one was square too? I don't remember that but it's possible.) and she said is "one of the biggest wires we have." I also got my wire tie replaced and tightened, new teal powerchains (still 2-2 on top but increased to 3-3 on the bottom) AND... I got ELASTICS! Apparently that whole "let's just treat this like a surgical case" was lost in the sauce and we are going to try and correct the bite with elastics instead. I'm in "Japan" rubber bands in a class 3 position from my upper first molar to my lower canine on both sides. 24 hours a day, changing them out 3x per day. They didn't have any colored rubber bands so I was a tiny bit disappointed ;)

My diastema is about to be history. I'm pretty sure it closed a little between when she put on the new wire tie and leaving the appointment! I'm happy with my progress and happy that the ortho thinks we can do rubber bands instead of surgery.

Picture time!

That chain looks like it has done a great job, those spaces are nicely disappearing!
