My sentence is 24 months

Think hard about which one you will go for this weekend! preferably over popcorn, caramel, burgers and all the foods on the braces NO NO list, it may be a while till you consume them again
i chose the third one, he made me feel comfortable, i hope I made the right decision!

no burgers and caramel for me, it's getting really hot in Greece, it's bikini time!
:-)o :-)o :-)o :jump: :jump: :jump: :jump: :jump: congrats on making a decision, when is your banding date? what type of braces are you getting?

and I wouldn't worry too much about losing weight, it will happen... brace diet is one of the most effective diets

I will go on Thursday, things are happening quickly :yikes:  traditional metal braces it is. he convinced me that they are the best for my case. ok I am a big girl, I will do what needs to be done to get the smile I always wanted. He told me he wouldn't propose ceramic braces at all for my case. I hope to get at least some colours!

it is important to go with what they recommend as it is most probably what he/she can get the best results out of for you, I believe you get to choose the ligature colors ;)

Have my fingers crossed for you - you can do it! if you are not scheduled to have any extractions on Thursday I'd recommend taking 2x tylenol prior to the braces going on.. helps with the initial tension you feel with the wires =)

its official, 4 teeth need to be extracted
he had a different plan, first braces, after 2 months 2 extractions and after 2 more months two more extractions. 2500 euro, extractions included and retainers included.
this weekend I have to take the decision.
18-24 months!
I just read your story! Congratulations on making the decision and I guarantee that you will not regret it in the grand scheme of things. Believe it or not, feeling comfortable with an orthodontist and his/her office is probably the most important thing. After all, you will be dealing with them for two to three years (retainer checkup included). I am driving an hour each way for appointments since I didn't feel comfortable with the ortho in my town and felt much more comfortable with the other ortho I consulted with about 50 miles away.

I got braces about a month ago, 3 months before turning 35 and initially it felt like a big deal but it is not. Lots of good advice and help from people on here. Also, discuss things with your orthodontist, but don't doubt them. They know best since they went to school for years and years to do this. Mine felt that metal self-ligating (Damon) braces would work the best for me and so that's what I have, I didn't debate that point at all. Anyway, good luck this Thursday! Take some ibuprofen before you go and stock up on soft foods as it will be a week or two before you will be able to bite down and eat solid foods.

ok I have braces on top teeth for almost a month now, i had to check my ticker, it seems like yesterday! i have the bottom braces for almost two weeks now.
everything is great! the first one week was the difficult one, because i couldnt eat and i had to give up my favourite snacks, and i mean chips and popcorn ( i am addicted to them, i ate chips yesterday, i am afraid to eat pop corn and I will not try it :? ). but the most difficult part were the canker sores, i wanted to try without wax, i am stupid sometimes, i had a huge canker sore, that made it almost impossible for me to speak for 4-5 days. now I am fine, i am trying again without wax but when i feel that my mouth is irritated in some spot i put wax immediately.
this tuesday i am going to get extracted my two bottom premolars, I am both afraid and happy because I want to see some movement and I know that space is necessary for the changes to happen in my mouth. I will post photos soon!

Good luck with your treatment, the sores usually stop bothering you after the first month (at least in my case) and you don't have to use the wax anymore :)

Good luck as well with your treatment. I got 3 opinions as well before I started, and went with the one I felt most comfortable with and thought would work best for me. I interviewed them like I was hiring them for a job, well I was right? The ones that acted annoyed didn't get hired. In fact one never even followed through on a quote since his assistant was out that day.

here I am again! I would like to update more often but you know how it goes. I was really busy with work and exams and really not in great mood for photos or updates. I live in Greece and we had really bad times, those that follow the international news may know. I think most greek people had really hard and sad days and I am no exception. One of my first worries with the bad economical crisis was that I will not be able to pay my ortho and I will stay with braces forever :gavel:  I hope we will have better times.

ok now about the braces! i am almost comfortable with them. I eat almost everything, even my favorite potato chips! I have stopped using wax, tha first bad ulcer days are over. we have not made an adjustment at the top braces but as you can see there is progress,I will have my top premolars extracted at September, I am not looking forward to it I can say!

at the bottom teeth we have made two adjustments and I couldn't imagine it is that painful  or I am really whiny, I am sure patients have left running because of my screams :-* :-*
at the bottom teeth there is also progress, my crooked canines come in to their right position, the left is a little more stubborn.

I can't stop smiling!!!!

Yes that's got to be nerve-wracking to be intimately committed to something expensive long-term (braces!) when the long-term looks uncertain. I haven't heard anything new about the situation in the past few days, hopefully it's getting better...?

In any case, your teeth are looking really great! Congrats!
•Braces placed August 14, 2014
•Deband November 11, 2015
•Permanent retainer top and bottom
•Essix retainers top and bottom 16 hr/day for a year and then nightly afterwards.
