Clear power chains and curry!!! Not a happy combination from someone who's been there before. I have found it really hard to keep the power chains as good as new and some staining is to be expected over the weeks despite how hard you try. Food colouring is in everything so it's going to be a process of trial and error for a few weeks. I can just about keep them looking good for a month between appointments but I have to be careful and steer away from foods I would usually be able to eat. My ortho doesn't do coloured power chains either so this isn't unusual. It sounds like you are making great progress!

Haha. I'm going to try living without curry for a while I think! (We'll give it a week max...) I've loved seeing all these coloured powerchains on here, I was a bit disappointed when my ortho said she only has clear!

If you could get coloured powerchains, what colour would you get?

I would get... some kind of blue I think! Oh I'd have to try a few :D I'm really disappointed I haven't got to try them :(

I need to update! I have totally neglected this. Oops.

I am now just over 7 months in to treatment.

Last appointment (in... January) my orthodontist asked if there's anything I'm not happy with because once the little things are fixed she wants to take my braces off. I was like... whoa... already? Exciting! I pointed out some gaps still (she had initially said about taking them off at my next appointment at the start of March). She said that taking them off in March wasn't going to be possible, we need to wait a little bit longer but HOPEFULLY by the end of May. I'm very excited!

My teeth look and feel great (urgh I have toothache though, I'll get to that). My bite is... completely different. I got away with no elastics (woo!), my bite just seems to have corrected itself without them. I don't feel my jaw... straining any more when I bite down (I don't know how else to describe it). My teeth feel like they fit together as they should, they LOOK like they fit together as they should. I had bumpers everywhere when I first got my braces on (to stop my top teeth hitting the lower brackets). I haven't had them on my teeth for the last two adjustments, my top teeth don't come near my lower brackets any more. There's definitely no over bite, just a tiny little over lap as it should be. I am so so pleased with the results in such a short amount of time and with what seems like minimal effort really.

The toothache- after my last appointment I had the usual pain, pain in one of my molars which has been common. I thought it would go away. It hasn't. I noticed while hiking a week or so ago that when my heart was beating faster, my tooth was throbbing. Also when I suck in I get a sharp pain. Certainly not pain from the braces. The pain seems to be in a molar that doesn't have a bracket so very unlikely to be braces related. I'm quite worried about it. I've never had toothache before. I have a few fillings because of a botched extraction when I was a child (not sure if I've told that story... cause of that missing upper tooth too) but I've never had tooth pain caused by anything other than minor sensitivity and braces. I mentioned that this tooth had been sensitive for a while at my last regular dentists appointment in February. My dentist said it was nothing to worry about, she couldn't see any signs of decay. I hope that it couldn't have decayed in such a short space of time. I can't see any signs of decay (and trust me, I've examined my teeth extensively LOL). I've done some Googling and wonder if my new bite is causing pressure on/ has damaged/ has loosened the filling that is in the tooth.

ANYWAY. Basically as I haven't experienced this before it's making me worry. I have a dentists appointment tomorrow and I'm panicking a little. Keep thinking she's going to tell me my tooth is very decayed and they're going to have to take it out... a ridiculous worry but I will be glad when I've seen the dentist and found out what's causing the pain.

So! A few photos. Sorry, they're not the greatest. I will crack out the cheek extractor some time and take some better ones with my camera. I won't fully be happy with my upper arch until I get an implant in the gap but overall they look pretty good I think!
