This has been a long time coming...
And it will be a decently long process. I feel like a lot of times I see people with treatment times of around two years, mine will probably be three. But I think it'll be worth it in the end!
Extractions of all my first premolars were done May 9, spacers put in May 30, then got those out (thank god) and braces put on June 7.
I have ceramic brackets, and currently clear elastic ligatures. Hopefully will be switching those ligatures out for wire ties. My ortho is focusing on retracting my canines first, so I've got wire tie-backs on those. Next appointment is July 19!
I haven't posted enough yet to be able to post pictures so those will be coming soon...

Re: This has been a long time coming...
So far the most annoying thing about braces has been the constant dry mouth. Got some Biotene to hopefully help take care of that. And as always I know I need to drink more water (and less alcohol
).
Also got my waterpik today and I'm already in love! I'm hoping it can take the place of flossing because that is just so time consuming...and I keep shredding the floss on my molars bands.

Re: This has been a long time coming...
Good Afternoon
I am scheduled to get my top teeth braced the second week of July. My regular dentist has to do an extraction of a broken tooth before I can start with the braces.
I have read many posts and blogs on this website and have found it extremely informative. I have read and I think I am prepared for all of the inconveniences that braces pose. My orthodontist told me I would be in braces for 2 years, but I know that is an estimate.
I chose to do regular metal braces because I don't trust myself to always wear my invisalign trays and I don't want to deal with staining the ceramic brackets. Oh and by the way I am over 60 and I wish I would have done this a long time ago.
Good luck in your journey as I await the start of mine.

I am both anxious and excited. I have even been counting down the days on a calendar in my head.

Ha, I did the same before I got mine!

Called my Ortho today and got scheduled to get my clear ligs switch out for wire ties. So glad I only have to live with these stained things for two more days!

Re: This has been a long time coming...
I also got my ligs changed to wire ties on my clear brackets. The disadvantage is that the ligs made the ceramic brackets smoother and after brushing or eating Inm have to repsosition some of the ends of the wires pocking the inside. Maybe it is only me...

I have wire tiebacks on my canines right now and haven't had any issues with the ends so I'm hoping that will hold true with the rest, but we'll see!

Got my elastics changed out for wire ties yesterday! They went ahead and tightened my lace-backs too since I was there. Exciting since that means there's been some movement!
It's hard to really see it, but I can tell that my left maxillary lateral incisor and canine have shifted.

My canines are bugging me today, especially the right lower one. I know this is good because it means things are moving, but it's just kind of bothersome. Overall I feel like I've been pretty lucky so far, not much pain to complain about.

You got withe wire ties. They are looking great. I had also no main pain. Having braces for nearly two month I expected “more”. But may be I am as lucky and feeling pain is always personal.

Re: This has been a long time coming...
I honestly expect I'll probably have more pain once all my teeth are incorporated into one archwire.
Today my teeth just feel weird, I think because my bite is slightly off. It's making me want to grind my teeth constantly.
