Here's something new for my faithfull audience  , the latest picture taken at 3 months in braces. I uploaded it in a previous message in which you can see the whole timeline of pictures from day 1: viewtopic.php?p=34190#34190

Not much progress, huh? The left lateral is still hesitant about getting closer to my front teeth... The right one is making more of an effort there. This is happening a lot slower than I expected :?
Case: Impacted canines, crowding & crossbite.
Treatment: SARPE 2004/10/6, RPE 2004/9/28 - 2005/1/31, w-arch until 2005/11/22, impacted canines extracted 2005/5/18.
Braces on: top 2005/6/2, bottom 2005/8/30.
Braces off: 2008/6/9.
Retainers, phase one: expanding Hawley retainer 24/7, bonded retainers on top & bottom.
Retainers, phase two: Hawley on top, bonded both top & bottom, positioner for night time use.

Thank you, Jenn & DM!

After having the impacted canines extracted my oral surgeon said those laterals should move fast now that they have all the new space around them, so I was expecting to see some rapid action. Now that I think about it, I'm glad they are moving slowly: that must mean they are well attached to my jaw bone, right? One of my biggest fears - and my ortho's - about the surgical canine extraction was the risk of damaging the roots of the laterals in the process and thus losing those teeth. Seems like they are still stuck on me very well, and that is a good, GOOD thing! After all they are moving, just slowly.

But of course there is some nice progress, Joplin.
Especially your right lateral is turning and shifting into the right place.
3 months ago, one could see more the side of that tooth, now the front
is more visible. That is a great improvement. Indeed, your left one is
more stubborn, but also shows an improvement. And as my ortho said,
better have a slow movement and have less risks of complications !
Best of luck !

Clo, standing in the seventh row, eighth one from the left in that gigantic
audience of yours. We want more, more, more ... eh movement ?!

Looking good Joplin! What a difference on the right. You can actually see the front face of the tooth - from the front! The left is moving too, slowly but surley. Can't believe it's three months already!
2005 Impacted canines resulting in twisted lateral incisor - advised: surgical removal of canines, followed by braces then 'pegging' of lateral incisor root - didn't proceed
2017 L canine erupted, bone loss around lateral incisor - advised: canine substitution by extraction of both lateral incisors, exposure of R canine, braces to position canines

Update, adjustment 4:

Things got moving! I got a real powerchain today. The first one actually wasn't one, but something they just wanted to "tease" my uppers with first. Now they powerchained my front teeth and laterals and I can finally tell something is going on. It's now 6 hours since my adjustment and the stubborn left lateral has already moved closer to the front tooth and a brand new gap is under construction on the other side of it. Those two teeth have always been kinda tangled together. Wow, this I like!
I also got a thicker wire (0.14) on the lowers and yes, I can feel the pressure. It's not really pain, but let's just say I'm now very aware of my lowers :soremouth:

Thanks for your compliments and all the pep talk, my friends!

Update the next day, Sept. 20th:
There's now a new pic for comparison in my timeline gallery, taken today. It shows the HUGE change this powerchain made in the last 24 hours: viewtopic.php?p=34190#34190
So this is my smile today. I'm starting to like it :)
