New here...

#1 Post by Der_Todesengel »

Hello Everyone! I am new here and just decided to let myself be known. I am not a braces wearer, but I used to wear braces. I find them fascinating, as well as other dental related things. I've wanted to become a dentist since I was younger, but unfortunatly to my eyesight (I am blind in my right eye) I can't become a dentist or an orthodontist. So anyway, back to my braces, because I know that is what you all want to know about, lol. I got my braces on when I was eleven. I had them on until I was sixteen. My teeth were straight and they were until basically the braces came off. They are rather crooked now and I am debating whether to go back and spend alot of money to get them fixed...again. So basically what happened with me, is that I had the braces on for so long that I actually got cavities. My first cavities. My orthodontist wasn't much of a nice guy. He didn't explain all the facts to me, he didn't really talk to me about my treatment, so that's a bad part for him. Now that I have no braces on, thank Goddess they didn't do permanant damage, but I still am getting no cavities. I know alot about braces and things so if anyone has any questions or comments, I will give my feedback. Also if any orthodontists on this board knows about any types of dental-related careers that a visually impaired person can achieve, please let me know.

Rich.

Hi Rich,

Welcome to the board. You should post a question in the Ask the Doc forum about the possible career for the visually impaired. You have more chances of getting an answer since thats where the orthos post. ;) In the meantime, are you a university student or something?

No, I am looking for potential careers of dentistry or orthodontics to go into. I am also looking into graphic design.
