good pictures! Even that tooth next to the front tooth... on the right when seen from the computer screen (sorry I don't really know the names of the teeth or the number

) seems to have moved a bit

I'm not sure if I'm understood but needless to say, nice progress!

I'm in the same boat as you, I know what the molars are, but that's about it! So I understood perfectly, and looking at it closely I agree. Cool!

Today my sister went to my orthodontist because of concerns about how how her teeth are growing in. While Mom was there, the orthodontist talked about my treatment a bit with her (I gave the orthodonist permission since Mom came with me to the consultation).

She gave Mom pre-treatment pics to give to me, so here they are:

Also, the doctor told Mom to assure me that the teeth that have ridges and points will be fixed and rounded out. Yay! My excitement is renewed!

I still have to talk with the ortho about a front tooth that has gotten crammed behind another one slightly, where I can't floss it anymore. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced that, maybe I'll ask in the Metal Mouth forum.[/img]

I had my second adjustment, where I had them put maroon ligs on the top. The bottom will have to wait! Who knows, by next time I may want a different color.

Anyway, nothing spectacular occurred otherwise. I tried asking a few things about my treatment, but she's really reluctant to tell me, I think because she's really used to talking to teenagers who don't care. But I want to KNOW about my progress! It's a little frustrating, but maybe I'll get the point across next time.

Anyway, here is the obligatory post-adjustment picture:

Shame that your ortho doesn't realise that some people are more interested in their treatment and want to take a more active role. Hopefully if you keep asking she'll realise it's ok to talk more about these things with you!

I wish I knew a tactful, but firm way of saying 'Give me more information!' I tend to be non-confrontational until it reaches a 'critical mass,' I hope that's not how it goes this time.

On another note, they changed the archwire on the top and made it a LOT tighter, so I'm experiencing tenderness in my top teeth when I try to eat or brush my teeth. I haven't experienced this much tenderness since I got the braces on! Ouch! But, this means something's going to be moving around, so I'm going to concentrate on that.

Today is two months since I got my braces on.

I'm definitely feeling 'the two month blues.' I feel like I'll never get these braces off! And even though my head knows I still have two years left and of course progress is of course probably going to be slow going, every time I look at my teeth I wonder why I haven't made more progress! That's silly, I'm just being impatient.

I hope this feeling passes soon. Maybe it will after my next adjustment.

Hi, jennandtonic! Great progress on your teeth! I noticed that you have the same type of braces as me. I haven't seen anyone else with these kind of braces, have you? I mean that they don't have the four "hooks" on them like most braces do. Hopefully I'm making sense. Just wanted to know, because we have the same type!

I know exactly what you mean, I think this braces type must be unusual, I haven't seen them in any pictures of braces on this site!

I had my third adjustment yesterday! I hadn't noticed any changes since the last appointment, but Anne, my orthodontist's assistant, says I will notice changes this time. They put a powerchain on my left bottom side where I had a premolar extracted, then they put a retractor hook on the other side where I had ...I forget what kind of tooth...extracted. AND, I asked Anne questions about my treatment and she was very helpful. She said what a retractor hook and powerchain do (help close gaps, or they can help rotate a tooth if needed) and said that is what they're going to do with my upper and lower teeth where I had the four extractions.

And I must say, this time it hurt afterward a lot more than the times before! I was working last night and all I could think about was how much it hurt! Plus I'm back to not being able to chew much, so it's applesauce and mac 'n' cheese for me for a few days.

I am feeling a LOT better than I was a week or so ago in mindset. I just have to remind myself how gorgeous my teeth are going to be at the end of all of this!

And I tried to take a picture of my retractor hook and powerchain, alas, my camera will not cooperate on those really really closeup pics. I'm thinking about buying a new camera but don't know the price range for ones that are especially for close range pictures.

So, forgive the blurriness, and here are two pics of my dark blue ligs!

Sounds like you have a lovely ortho assistant ... it's great that you can ask her questions and get good replies!

All spams that have a macro setting (which I'm guessing nearly all digitals do), are suitable for close up photos. Also make sure you have optical zoom ... ignore the advertising about the digital zoom ... as you want optical zoom so that you can control the zooming in on subjects! Good luck with finding a new camera ... I suspect you'll find many reasonably priced ones as long as you don't want to go to high in the pixel range or want one with too many additional features!

Good luck with your treatment and loads more progress!

Thank you KK, you certainly know how to uplift someone! I certainly hope this powerchain lives up to its name, I'm definitely feeling the pain!
