After extraction!

#5 Post by sjsarre »

Hi there

Well I had the four teeth out. It only took 20minutes!

My gums kept bleeding a bit too heavy though so I ended up having a couple of stitches last night.

This morning. It feels wierd.. The gum where my one of my teeth has come out has hard bony bits in it? Its such a strange feeling when your teeth are gone.. My mouth feels a completely different shape!

I'm rinsing with warm salty water and i'm sticking to home made fruit smoothies and potato mash for the next day or two!

Can't wait to get the next part over and done with. I've been thinking about having a brace for 16 years!!

congrats on your decision. Your photos belie your age so get ready to get carded when you adorn your mouth jewelry. I think your positive attitude toward obtaining a beautiful smile will make your orthodontic journey an easy one.

good luck

Great pictures! 20 minutes for four teeth, that seems pretty fast. I've never had any teeth pulled but will be having two pulled at some point.

Good luck and take care

Thanks everyone.

I'm on day three post extraction. Feeling quite good, although food is a bit difficult. Don't have too much pain. Just nagging aches on and off. The holes are closing up already!

People keep saying to me that i'm gonna look like i'm back at school when I have my brace put on. Not sure if thats a good or a bad thing LOL!!!

Only four days to go until my brace. Will post the pictures as soon as I have it put on...!

Welcome sjsarre!

Good that your extractions went well! I think you will have a big wide smile in a little time. Your teeth are great - so big and white!

Hi

Thanks for all your great comments..

I've been told approx 10 - 14 months in braces. It seems quite a short time. So I guess I will have to wait and see!

I'm having ceramics on upper and lower teeth.

My Ortho said that he thinks i'll be pleasantly surprised at the results. .

Only two days to go until I have my brace on.

I've got some annoying little hard almost bony bits on my the side of my gums where the bottom teeth were extracted. I called the dentist and they said that they should work their way out through my gums soon. They are getting more and more noticable. I'll ask my Ortho more on Thurs.

OK, well its 9pm here. Only 12 hours to go til I get my brace on. I'm excited but really quite nervous now... The holes in my gums are annoying me. But I guess the brace will probably annoy me even more.

I will post some pictures tomorrow.

Well its day one with my brace on. Had it put on at 9am. Its not nearly 5pm. Its a bit painful. My teeth are really painful to touch but other than that they have a nice sort of tingling sensation about them!

One of my lower teeth was so twisted that the ortho couldn't fix the ceramic on. He said he will be able to fix it on hopefully in about a month to six weeks once my other lower teeth on the front have started moving. The twisted one should then start "untwisting" at the same time.

My upper 2nds have ceramics on, but aren't fixed to the brace yet. The Ortho thinks that this will probably take place sometime towards the 3rd / 4th adjustment.

I've included some pics below... Can't believe I finally have the brace on. I do feel really quite hideous with it on, but I know the outcome will be worth it!

Thanks for your comments.. I do feel a bit emotional at the moment. I'm going to make sure I do everything the Ortho asks of me!

My teeth are now really quite painful. I accidentally touched them together quite hard before and the pain was excruitiating.

How long does this pain last for? Is it just a few days? Or should I expect it for the entire time my teeth are moving into position?

Welcome to the club! You have the same ceramics like I do. They look great :D Don't worry - the pain will go away in a few days! After about 10 days I felt normal again.
