hi-new to this great site- I'm 39 & my braces are going on this thurs bottoms only for a 9-12 month treatment w/ standard metal braces as I have some crowding issues but now I have 2nd thoughts on going through with it as there seems to be so many variables to consider while in treatment
did some of you folks also get "cold feet" before committing to the metal mouth conversion ..... :?

thnx

Hi kd.

I agree with KK; everyone gets cold feet...but at the end, braces are one of the best things you could do for yourself!

I currently have ceramics on top and I am still trying to really accept them. I am soon getting my metal lower brackets on... next monday...and I am dreading the day. I wish time would stop!! BUT this is something I have to do...something I am choosing to do to get my teeth completely straight and beautiful!

9 or so months will go by fast!! It's not too long. Even 2-4 years isn't too long...It might seem long..and it will be at times...but once the braces are off and you see your straight teeth, you will be glad you went for it...

Good luck with your decision :)

Hi KD

Welcome to the board... As the others have rightly said I think its normal and human nature to be weary of the unexpected.

I've hated my teeth since I was 14. That was nearly 17 years ago. Its taken me that long to get a brace. I'm virtually at week three and whilst i'm experiencing hiccups such as a bit of pain and not being able to eat properly, I would certainly never go back on what I have had done.

Good luck with brace day..

Post soon

:P

Hi kd and welcome to the board!

Yes, I think everyone gets cold feet. The week before I was to be braced, I thought about backing out until I saw someone on this board write the following: You can get braces and have perfect teeth in one to two years, or you can not get braces and keep your teeth the way they are. Either way, those one to two years are going to pass.

Good luck to you!
