What floss do you recommend?

#1 Post by claraleeza »

Up till now I've been using the little blue plastic threaders for flossing that my hygienist recommended to me, but I find them really fiddly and they make flossing even more time-consuming that it already is with braces. Thus, I figured I'd ask you guys if anyone has used the different types of floss available on the site (the ones with the sturdy/bendable ends) and has any recommendations. Thanks!

I don't like the threaders because they take up so much of your tim. I use SUPER FLOSS by Oral B. It is so convenient.

They already have a hard tip so you don't need to thread them, then there is a spongy floss, then the regular floss. So there are 3 parts to it. I buy them for about $2.25 a box.

I see a similar floss by Crest but it costs $6.50 for even less than what Oral B gives so I haven't bought them yet.

I like the Crest threader floss the best. I was using it for a long time and then switched to the oral b superfloss and I am sorry I did. It is way more expensive but worth it in my opinion to go with the Crest floss. The ends on the Oral -B floss are not nearly as stiff as the Crest floss. It takes me way longer to floss with Oral-B. I might just throw the darn thing out and go get the Crest ones again.

sorry, I posted this in the wrong forum by accident, and now don't know how to delete it. I've reposted on the main forum, adding a question about Waterpiks. But to those who've already replied here, thank you!

Another fan of Oral B Superfloss here. I can mostly do both arches with one thread. On occasion they break before I'm through, but I use what's left to complete the job!

Hi! Ooh, your post makes me want to try the Crest ones. When I run out of the Oral B ones I have now, I will definitely try the Crest ones!

I've tried both the Oral B Superfloss and Crest Glide Floss as well.

I prefer the Glide floss. In addition to it being the shred resistant tape type (great for getting between my crowded front teeth), its threader end is a bit of flexible plastic encased in the tape. It really holds up even after threading it through my super-tight spaces.

In contrast, the Superfloss' "threader" end is just some stiffener applied to the regular floss. It's fine for the first few teeth, then I notice that it loses its stiffness and becomes difficult to thread. Plus, I don't really like the spongy part. I don't have wide spaces, and it really tends to snag and shred if it gets anywhere near my brackets!
