Glad the dentist trip went so well!! I have that next Tues. I'm wondering how it'll go. My big concern are my lower gums (I don't even have braces on my lower teeth yet). But, I'm going to be so tired of ortho/dentists after Tues.. I have 3 appt. Wire taken off, teeth cleaned, and then wire put back on.

Hope mine goes as well as yours did. :)

Had another ortho appointment today. Finally got some brackets moved around, 2 of them, so help straighten roots and to flatten out the bottom wire. I have photos but am too lazy right now to montage them. So good news things will be moving again since I've seen maybe a 1mm shift since the last appointment. The bad news is I now have a bumper on my one front tooth on the bottom since that bracket was moved up and my top tooth hits it. It's pretty obvious I have something stuck there and my first meal with it was a little awkward but I can deal. I'll just have to be extra careful when I'm eating something that requires tearing with my front teeth. I can totally see this one popping off and joining my meal one day.

One a side note, I'm walking in the Walk to Fight Arthritis this coming sunday and am trying to raise some money by offering sketches for a $10 donation. You can find all the details on my blog.

Love seeing all of your pictures! I just got my braces last week and don't know what to expect in terms of progression, so it was great to see yours - thanks for sharing! I have overcrowded teeth on the bottom as you did, but I have a lot of forsus/springs and you don't appear to have them (or are they really tiny?)

I'm thinking I need to switch out my toothpaste after reading your posts. I use one of the regular toothpastes with whitening, but it still might be too much with braces.

Thanks again,
Julie

Hi JulieFL! Thanks for your reply. I don't have any springs or anything and none were in my treatment plan so I'm assuming I won't be getting them. But good luck with yours!

Yeah, I stopped the whitening toothpaste just in case it really does make a difference. Maybe not one brushing but I've been using it for YEARS so it probably has helped my teeth. And 12-24 month with it might cause some odd colouring. It's not like there's no other kinds of toothpaste out there, so no harm in switching!

Had another ortho visit today. I really didn't think anything would change since movement is down to something slower than a crawl. I figured I'd get another 6 weeks for this bottom wire to work. Boy, was I wrong.

A power chain on top to close some small gaps here and there, an elastic on the left side only and a heavier wire on the bottom.

I think it'll be soft pasta for dinner tonight...

Your teeth look amazing! I love your collage idea - I may do that once I've seen more visible progress on the bottom. Good luck with the rest of treatment - everything looks fantastic so far! :)

I really like those clear brackets. If I end up needing upper braces I'll opt for these.

Yeesh. Everything seems to be shifting slightly with the power chain, the heavies bottom wire and the side elastic except for my two front bottom teeth which don't seem to want to get in line!

I found this site that sells power chain bracelets: http://www.bracedlets.com/ but the shipping is just way too much for the price of one bracelet. :( I'm still waiting to hear back from customer service. I thought it would be neat to have a bracelet to remind me of this journey once it's over, whenever it's over. I saw mention somewhere of someone who glued their brackets to a pair of chattering teeth once they were off. I might do something like that if they let me keep them. I mean, I'm paying for the damned things, they ARE mine...

Ah ha! opera^gal! That's such a great idea. I should start looking for chattering teeth now, I have no idea where to find them! Maybe a party store.

Another day, another ortho appointment.

He took off my power chain, gave me another bag of elastics and told me to keep wearing them 24/7 then sent me on my way.

*sigh*

It's going to be a long summer.

I joked "So how much longer until I can start asking 'how much longer'" and he said "oh, about 7-8 years, hahaha!" Ha! Yeah.
