Omg, I know! I know this guy who had to have elastics like that, he could barely talk! His ones crossed over at the front and they looked a.w.e.f.u.l. hands down..I hope I don't need to get those ones! Itchy teeth and gum are signs that your teeth are gradually moving, very slightly! Have hope!! :)

Last night, I had my first professional photos at my ball/prom. It was a truly wonderful experience and braces make everything much more interesting..haha I think in a few years' time, I will look back on these photos, only to remember the Grand-Ballroom in the five star hotel where the ball was held, the fantastic buffet, the amazing staff, the band, the dances and more importantly, the braces - my journey towards perfect teeth :)

Quick update: less than 2 weeks till my next adjustment...no more 'light-wires' for me :/

My mouth hurts sooo bad, ah there are ONLY about 10 ulcers surrounding the inner cheek areas...Yesterday, it just started and I did not take any immediate actions, so my braces decided to irritate these ulcers which were initially not very painful and now my whole mouth is on fire...ah time to whip out that wax, which have not used for the last 1 month and the bonjela :/

Next Thursday, I get my heavier wire - I don't know what to think, I should be happy perhaps that it has been another month, but then just remember that pain makes me feel a bit anxious again..

Aack... You poor thing! I totally sympathize with you, and have been there. Have you tried warm salt water rinses? I used to do those all the time when I got bad mouth ulcers. Just keep doing what you're doing.

I wouldn't worry too much about your next wire. I'm discovering that orthodontics is very unpredictable. Last month, I got a new wire after 8 months with my last wire, and expected to be in agony. At that time I also got a new powerchain, along with ligatures, and of course, my lovely triangle elastics. I felt absolutely NO pain whatsoever for the entire month. Today... all he did was change the power chain and gave me an easier elastics configuration. And my teeth are killing me - even the bottom ones, which he hasn't even touched in months. :?

Just take care of yourself, sweetie. If possible, try not to talk too much. That will help with the rubbing.

Cathy

awww thank you Cathy. Warm salt water rinses are saving my life at the moment :)
wow 8 months with one wire, that is really really long...won't your teeth have settled into their positions in that length of time...oh well, let the ortho do that work :P oh no, triangle elastics, lovely - how are elastics? what do they feel like??

Hey BiP!

It's been a while! Are your teeth all straight yet?? Lol.....

Well, as far as the elastics....the first month I had no problems at all. I even ate with them in. In the last couple of weeks they have been a total pain in the a#s. I am jealous of people who have not had to have elastics since day one. Without the elastics now, like when I eat, it doesn't even feel like I have braces! The elastics ALWAYS remind me that I have braces....

With having said that--they have only been painful once from rubbing toward the corners of my mouth. Somedays they just feel so much tighter than other days. And after all this complaining I do have to say--it's very bearable, just totally irritating. More than anything, they just totally p#ss me off!!!

I may have to stop in at the orthos this coming week...I've got another pokey that needs to be clipped...But it's about 5 weeks still since my first adjustment since being braced on April 29th...

Hey, don't you think it's going to be cool when our tickers say 2 months since being braced? We are on our way!!!!

Hey klobird! Nice to hear your progress :)
The braces are definitely tighter on some days. They are so unpredictable! Sometimes food don't get stuck in them at all and sometimes they get stuck like glue, so basically I have resorted to having to break food into pieces before chewing them, that includes sandwiches. I get 6 months of elastics - lucky me....not :P in about 3-4 months' time, then I will join in on the 'braces with elastics' journey. You have a lot of pokeys...I have had only one! That is soo strange! I guess everyone's teeth move differently?? I don't know...hehe when is your first adjustment? June sometime I remember, or is it July?? I have mine in 5 days...ah
I am looking forward to hitting that 2 months' mark! :)

Hey Bip--so glad to see you are back again for a while, I hope! I love comparing progress stories, since we were braced so close together...

Ya, no appointments between bracing and July 19th--for a couple of spacers, then an adjustment on July 26th...I'm probably going to be in braces til I'm 70 at this rate!!

Do you really notice a difference? The people at work all insist that they see a real change...hmmmmm... ya, well I got a new hairdo, I'm wearing a little more make-up, and contoured my eyebrows somewhat...I guess they would notice a change...

You know what is so weird though--I love having braces--in spite of everything!!! I still think they are really cool--and I would be in a panic if I had to get them off for some reason. Though I do watch a lot of youtube "braces off" videos. I look forward to screaming in delight over the new me!!!!

hey klobird!! I have been quite busy lately so for now, I am back! :) June 26th - the is around the same time I have my third adjustment!! wow your ortho works really differently to mine! Ouch spacers, I would rather have braces than spacers..they are itchy and painful! hehe Yes I love comparing stories too!! Prior to getting braces, I watched almost every single video they had on youtube about getting braces on, now here I am watching debracing videos!! I am soo looking forward to that day....:)

YAY :) Braces anniversary, how time flies..:)

Today was my second adjustment - 2 months in light wire...not it is time for some 'heavy wires'. Lovely, since my teeth are loose-ish, the wires have an immediate affect on them, 10 min after the appointment, it began to hurt :/ My orthodontist said that he needs to align my teeth first before he is able to close the gaps. And by then I will have my elastics. Note to self: Back to soft food diet again!

Hey Bip---well, I thought this would be your 2 month anniversary, but the ticker goes by dates instead of weeks I guess.
Tomorrow I will be at 8 weeks, but not 2 months until the 29th which is next Wednesday!! Weird...Psychologically not liking it!!.....

Hey Bip--

I have a question--when you got the new archwire in, what is it rubbing on and where? My wire has not rubbed on anything--just the hooks, pokeys and elastics....????
