:D Yay, glad to hear that it went well DM. The powerchain should move things right along.

Good luck with your braces too, katemm06.

I'm now at more than 7 1/2 weks with braces...My bottoms are noticicably improving but I find i'm doing the grinding thing again...I feel like my expander is affecting my speech again and its frusturating..just to have that thing out will be such an incredible relief..just about a month and a half left....I'll post my next pics at 8 weeks..

Hi! We just got back yesterday actually. We loved Boston, only had a few days but managed to cram quite a lot in. Our hotel was in Cambridge so we saw quite a lot there too. Also managed to spend a day in Salem which was fantastic! Thanks for your advice, it was incredibly useful to have some "insider knowledge"!

His interview went very well although we haven't heard the outcome yet. If they offer it to him we will seriously consider going for it although it will depend upon what they are planning to pay him!

One weird thing I noticed is that loads of adults had braces, way more than you see over here. I've been a bit self-conscious up to now but didn't stand out at all while in Boston. I feel so much better about myself that I think I'm even going to go for coloured ligs at my adjustment on Friday :D

Hi DM - I too am doing the grinding/clenching thing...I notice myself doing it all the time and especially at night. I have to continually relax my jaw. I did a search and it seems not unlike a disorder called 'bruxism' - although not caused by stress so much as stressed teeth! It's really annoying and I will mention it to my ortho on Monday (2nd adjustment) just in case it should be addressed with a mouth guard or something. Your expander sounds like a pain but at least it's not long til it's history!

Hi Geri, yes i continue with the clenching and grinding but I find I do it during the day and not in my sleep so that is good..I've been told before that its just my teeth finding their "bite" as the teeth are moving so much..I'll be curious to hear what your doctor tells you....

I'm still happywith my progress,,The bottom teeth have begun moving more with the power chain of elastics..hopefully that will get my midline on target..Its really off right now and I can't wait for open bit e and other bite issues to be corrected but I was warned that this would happen as the teeth straightened....I am eating normally these days..so much for losing weight but I'm also beginning my marathon training for a marathon in april so I think that will distract me from obsessing aobut my teeth ..or so i hope:)..I'll post some updated photos soon..perhaps tonight:)

Oops, I kind of hijacked your thread with that last post. It wasn't intended, I meant to post an update on my own thread but managed to get confused as to which thread I was on. Sorry!

Well today I am 2 mos. with braces and almost 5 monthes since this whole adventure began with SARPE. Here I am today at 2 mos.

and since the power chain went in on the bottom I have seen much progress there as well-- although my midline is cukoo and i have an open bite..at least my teeth are straight..the rest will be corrected in time:)

This thursday I should be getting a new wire. last tuesday night on of my wire ties came off and I called my ortho and she said that unless i was in some discomfort it could wait til my scheduled appointment this Thursday..I've had such movement on the bottom that the wire is a bit loose and I look forward to it all being tightened up and getting the archwire engaged properly again so I can see more movement. I will also have my elastics changed (power chain formation) ...my other issue is that my expander has been digging into mymouth as the bone has regrown there has been some attempt at rellapse causing the expander to fit so very tightly..ouch! Its gross but if feels almost like the skin is starting to grow around that part of it..,,my wish is that she'll say "lets just take that thing out of there!" but I know its just wishfull thinking:)..Its just kind of stinging right now..hopefully she can do something to relieve my discomfort.

Overall I am amazed at the movement I've had in just over 2 months and find it hard to believe I'll need the braces for 24 months..but we'll see...I suppose those last steps to get things as perfect as possible will take the most time..

I am anxious for thursday!
