Hey luchababe, oh defintely you can really see the difference when they animate. I pinched your idea , but it was a good one and I must say your teeth are looking great!

Now that you've got me making an animation of my teeth, I think I might start taking weekly photos instead just to add to it each week Image

Hey Chrystal -

I was just wondering if you have any pictures of your original bite or even a pic with your top braces on that still shows your bite. Maybe I missed them on here? If not, that's ok. I was just curious. I don't really have any good before pictures because I hadn't quite figured out how to take a picture that wasn't blurry. It's still very difficult because I take a medication that makes my hands tremble a bit. Anyway, hope everything's well with you.

Hey sadpanda,

It's funny you should mention those pictures, because lastnight I was hunting through my Laptop's files to see if I had taken a 'before' picture of my bite to compare with my bite now. I do have one, although it's a bit dark (no flash, bad lighting). I also took a photo of my 'bite' on the 1st of Jan just to see what was going on - I feel I see more when looking at a photo than I do in the mirror. I will take a new photo of my bite tomorrow and upload it here along with my 'before' photo (really wish I had taken a better quality one now and with those cheek retractors in too! :lol). It would also have been good if I had taken one before from below so I could see just how much my teeth have moved outwards and myslight overjet.... damn! :-+

----

Just thought I would post my latest 'update' while I am here. So I went to see the Oral Surgeon for my consult today. I saw a different man this time, I thought I was going to see the same guy who removed my other 3 wisdom teeth. To cut it short, he was really kind  and didn't come across as he was thinking "oh no, not a wisdom tooth removal that's still under the gum!". He just asked if I was wanting it removed because of my braces or pain, I said both. While he was looking at the x-ray and giving me the usual ritual of warnings and risks of surgery, he also mentioned that the wisdom tooth is sitting right on the nerve... great. Let's hope he doesn't bruise or damage it too much.
I was so chuffed it was finally getting done and that I wouldn't have to pay privately with lots of these: £££'s, that when he asked me how soon did I want it done, I replied "as soon as possible!" - so I am booked in for the 7th of Feb. Yes, that's TWO days before my lower braces are due to be fitted... I didn't actually remember this until I got in my car to drive back home! I sometimes wonder where I left my brain. The thing is I am also going to need someone who can drive me there and drive me home as they wont let you leave the surgery unless you are accompanied with a DRIVER... Hmm, who can I ask? most people, like, work... during the day/week . So anyway, I am going to re-book it for a later date, possibly March. Doing this will give me time to get my lower brace sorted and ask my brother if he can take me, giving him enough time to sort a morning off work or something. But if he can do it next week, then I might just go ahead, but I doubt he'll be able to book time off at such short notice.

I've just checked out the 'Metal Mouth' part of the forum and saw Admins thread about user name changes, that thread couldn't have come at a worse time! lol. It's a ridiculous coincidence, because I was going to PM admin today to ask if I could actually change my username because I've regretted using my real name on here, although I've just left it and got on with it... but that was until the other day when I received some very odd and worrying comments on my Braces Blog (blogspot blog, not on here) and the person found my blog either through this forum or another one I am on. I am rather    :| :? right now and could really do with getting my username changed. S***! WHY was I so stupid to use it when I first joined. I've got to go through my Blog now and see if I can edit out my comments that are signed with my name, but I don't think it's possible though so I might just have to delete them :(. Nevermind, I totally understand Admins point with people randomly requesting username changes 'just because' - it must be annoying. But the sad fact is, I really would like to change mine, if anything just to avoid future sick braces fetish people, I guess I'll have to deal with the one I just had, but really don't want anymore, not with my current username.

Earlier tonight I also had a brace fetish person try to add me as a friend on my personal Facebook, NOT good - because my home town is visible to 'everyone' so when friends search my name to add me, they can distinguish I am the right person because of my home town/location. Honestly people, think twice about your username before signing up to a forum! :computer: (although I am sure you're already aware of this and not stupid like me).

Erm, anything else to add? *thinks*... nope! Oh, actually, yes... I STILL hate molar bands :)

I can't believe the creepy fetish people are contacting you. If the admin wont let you change your name, maybe you should just create a new username and copy/paste all of your braces story into it? I honestly have no clue why people have a braces fetish, it seems a bit bizarre to me. :yuck:

Luckily nobody has tracked me down yet from this site, but I know i'd be pretty freaked if they did. Someone once tracked down my facebook acount just from a forum I used to post on. I only used my first name but that was enough as I think they just tracked me by my location.

Anyway, I hope your teeth are moving along nicely. I haven't had a chance to read most of your recent posts, but i'll try and catch up on all the stories I follow sometime next week.

P.s. I hate molar bands too!

Hey Jay04

It's actually quite scary. I had another brace fetish person try and add me on my personal Facebook the other day, so that's 2 now. I think they might have found me through being a 'member' of a few Braces groups/pages on there. I just deny them and hope they don't try again.

I think admin allowed username changes before if you used your real name/for safety reasons, but the most recent thread explains that there seems to be an issue with the forum when changing peoples usernames, something to do with something needing to be reset and admin isn't sure what it is. I have thought of making a new account, but I remember reading somewhere on the board that more than one account per user isn't allowed, so I wont be naughty and break the forum guidelines lol

My lower ones don't really bother me, it's just my uppers... my Ortho has put them SO close to the gum that no tooth is showing where the gum is... and I am finding it difficult brushing/flossing them.

I hope everything is going ok for you - I too haven't had time to catch up on the braces stories that I follow on here, even in just over a week I have alot of catching up to do!

Ok, been a busy bee and didn't get a chance to upload my 'bite' photos as quick as I said, sorry .

I finally got some time to take photos on Tuesday 1st February, so firstly are my usual comparison photos of my upper arch, then after that are photos of my 'bite'

Before and at 11 weeks:
Image

Here is my only front view of my bite before and at 11 weeks. I am closing my bite how I did before braces (my lower jaw sits to my right):
Image

And here I am closing my bite with my 'new bite' (I know that sounds crazy, but I actually have two bites! lol... feels very funky having two), when I position my teeth in this way my lower jaw doesn't sit as far to the right, so then my lower midline isn't as off as usual:
Image

Although I do feel my lower gums on the 4 front teeth may have receded a tiny bit more since my before photo I can still see and feel my overbite/deep bite (whatever you wanna call it) has already started to improve. At the moment my upper teeth overlap the lowers by about 2-4mm's (my own measurements ), where as before my upper teeth near enough completely overlapped my lowers and were very close to the lower gum line. Yippeee, I am happy with my progress so far :). I was concentrating more on the crookedness getting better and never really paid much attention to how my deep bite was changing.

One thing I am not so happy with, but kinda am at the same time? because it's because of movement... I have a gap! well, a black triangle in my opinion. It's between my left central incisor and the lateral incisor.

I changed my impacted wisdom tooth removal date, instead of going this Monday... I will now be going on 21st March. Gives me time to figure out a lift, shame it's 20 miles away from my town, that way I could have just caught a taxi home.

Lower braces next week and I'm not looking forward to it. Yet more time consuming brushing and flossing to add to my already long routine

I went out for a meal lastnight for my birthday and it was the first time eating out since being in braces. Basically, it's not something I am going to want to do too much during my time in braces . The food was getting stuck/caught like usual and after I had finished eating I had to remind myself not to start putting my fingers in my mouth or picking at my braces, like I would when eating at home... the urge was REALLY bad though. I whispered to my Mum and she said "just poke the food out with your straw"... I didn't try that so I waited until I got back home. I made sure I did the sucking thing while at the table so that there wasn't anything stuck around my front teeth.

I had a few 'drinks' so came home a little drunk, I brushed my teeth and went to bed without flossing, which today I am feeling guilty about lol.

It was a nice meal, but I can say eating out doesn't sound so good to me now that I am wearing braces

Heya,

Just lookin' at your pics - your deep bite looks like it's improved!! Even without bottom braces! I wonder if mine will too, so far.. it still looks the same to me.

BTW, Happy Birthday! :) I can understand what you mean about going out.. I've gone out a few times, but then I'm dying to brush my teeth - at least with the proxy brush to get all the bits of food caught between the brackets. :p

Hey drgnchsr36,

I think since my 1st premolars have moved outwards it's helped open up my bite a little. Also I am thinking before braces my 4 front teeth were slanted inwards (still are a bit) and have been brought out, so has helped too.

I never really checked the progress of my bite until about a week ago so not sure when the improvement started, it might have only been really recent. My bite feels really messed up at the moment. I'm also still in the same wire I got when my uppers were fitted. I went in for an 'adjustment' in late December but my Ortho only changed my ligs and wire ties, not the wire.

Aww thank you :D. I should have brought some with me, because the ladies toilets were dead so no one would have thought I was a strange woman at the mirrors picking at my teeth

Well my lower braces are on. The pain kicked in about 4 hours afterwards, and have been very sore ever since. My Ortho also put brackets on my lower 2nd molars (very last teeth), which I was not expecting as he never mentioned it to me previously. So ALL my lower teeth are connected to the archwire.

The fitting went well, it took a bit longer than the uppers did, but that might have been because 2 of the brackets popped off when he tried to put on the ligs. The 2 brackets that popped off were on the 2 most 'crooked' teeth. I didn't know it had happened at first, I just heard something drop on the floor and thought "what was that?" then my Ortho told me one of the brackets came off, it must have flown out of my mouth when the lig/archwire popped. So he had to re fit another bracket and then he tried to attach the archwire once again but then another bracket popped off (same side of my mouth), this one didn't go flying across the room.

Once he was finished I went to reception to book my next appointment and I decided to check out my bite (as you do) and noticed that one of my upper front teeth was hitting on the bracket directly below stopping any of my back teeth from touching. Maybe he forgot to ask me to "bite down" before I left to check this, but he was very busy with quite a few people waiting for their appointment. I mentioned it to the receptionist who then asked the assistant, the assistant said that if the bracket is bitten off I can just come back to have it put back on, but I wasn't so keen on my tooth hitting on metal so she went to ask the Ortho. He called me back in to see him after the next patient. He had a look and could see what I meant so said he would put some composite build up on my back teeth to open my bite. So now I have small (some others I've seen on the board look quite big/tall) molar build ups. He checked before I left and asked me to bite down to see if it had done the job and it had, but as I was driving home I noticed the same tooth was starting to hit the lower bracket again! GRRR. I guess it's because when he checks the bite I am laying down, so my lower jaw slips back? then when I stand up the jaw levels itself again and the bite position is different (lower jaw comes more forward) :?. I am going to leave it for now because I don't want to be a pain in the a**, but if it's still bothering me by the weekend I'll call them Monday. I guess if anything, he'll just build up my molar build ups a bit more to help.

He didn't change my upper wire, I am still in 1st wire, he just changed my upper ligs. No IPR yet either, even though at my last appointment he said I would possibly have it done at this appointment. My next adjustment is in 5 weeks where my Quad-Helix will be fitted, yeah, I did just say a Quad-Helix... damn! I remember him saying it at the 2nd part of my consultation but I thought I had gotten away with it as he hadn't mentioned it since.

I went for Pink ligs this time, a light Pink, although I wish I had gone for dark Blue now. I just had a blank moment when the assistant asked me what colour I wanted as she always asks if I want silver, maybe it's because I am an adult and she thinks I want to be discreet as possible. At my next appointment I will take the key ring thingy off her and have a good look through the colours and then choose, the past 2 times I've just quickly scanned the colours while she's holding it and quickly said a colour that I already had in mind. Why am I becoming picky over colours? lol

Anyway, here are my Pink ligs:

Too bad they don't take OFF the upper or lower brackets when you're ready the same way they put them ON, eh? We could all have 2 debracing dates... Hope you're not in too much pain today!

I wonder if because my lowers were fitted 3 months later it will add an extra time to my estimate treatment time :? 18-24 months sounds long enough! I would have much preferred to have them on at the same time :-+. I don't even notice my uppers now, but now feel like I'm starting all over again.

Thank you, definitely not as sore as yesterday and I'm not having to take as many paracetamol. Yesterday my lower teeth felt awful, I know to some that might sound like I am being a baby, but my word they were SO sore I literally wanted to rip them out of my mouth. I remember someone on the Forum saying it felt like their teeth were itching, I actually had that sensation yesterday, very strange feeling. I think I'll be eating quite a soft diet for the next week until the soreness disappears.

The build ups aren't too bad, they aren't like I thought they would be. Mine are quite small though compared to most I've seen on here, so that might be why I'm still able to eat fine (when my teeth aren't sore). I had a good meal that required alot of chewing right after the lowers were fitted (so I wasn't in any pain yet), but the build ups didn't interfere with my eating at all really, which is great.

Hi Chrystal -

I'm so surprised you have to have a quad helix. I've heard that it's awful. I guess just looking at your teeth, the problems seem very mild, but I'm not a doctor. Anyway, I don't mean to scare you or anything. It just seems like you are getting more torture than you signed on for. I'm not sure how your bite is getting fixed. I'm supposed to get elastics sometime soon, but my overbite is a lot deeper than yours and I guess I'm worried now that it will be harder to fix than I thought. Anyway, keep us updated.
