I bow to your superior knowledge: the mustang must be a later model, but definitely a 1960's version.

Are your cars manual (stick shift) or auto transmission?

Ken, will you marry me?

I'd be in heaven with all those cars!

When I met hubby he had a 78 Firebird TransAm in beautiful condition and we had some great fun with it before sadly having to sell it to get the deposit for a house.

Now we just have an old British classic, a 71 Spitfire mk IV but our next dream car is a Corvette C3 (convertible of course) but that's a loooooooong way off

Last year hubs was interviewed for a job in Washington and one of the perks of the job was at the end of the 3-year posting you could have an American car shipped back to the UK along with the rest of your personal

possessions. Sadly he didn't get the job, but I doubt he'd have been able to choose which one to bring back anyways! He'd probably have left ME in the US so he could squeeze an extra car into the luggage

I cope just fine with the steering wheel on that side

I have to admit I have never driven outside of the UK, and I never drove the TransAm for the simple reason that my feet didn't reach the pedals and the clutch was too heavy anyways.
I love driving Kimmy the Spit though. We call her Kimmy after her numberplate. Cheap to buy, tax-exempt and cheap to insure. We bought her as a non-runner last summer and got her roadworthy asap so we could at least have a bit of fun in her before winter. Things like the soft top counted as non-essentials and that's why it's only just been done.

Do you find though Ken that you're constantly fighting a losing battle with these classic cars to keep them in running order? The other day I went to drive Kim to work and the headlamps don't come on anymore

yet they worked perfectly well last week! So I will be out with the multimeter AGAIN tomorrow trying to track down where the fault is, and I bet anything you like, as soon as the headlamps get fixed, something else will stop working

To my immense embarrassment, hubby discovered that the lack of headlamps was down to a connector having come undone in the driver's footwell. Where it's such an old car it's had loads of tweaks and stuff done on the electrics over the years and most of the wiring is just hanging down inside the car

I must have caught the wire with my knee while getting in the car, and pulled it out.

Perhaps when I finally move to oHIo, I'll stick to doing the cooking. I'm evidently not cut out to be a car mechanic

Denise, Ken hasn't banned you I'm sure, but it sounds like he was hedging his bets by keeping me sweet, just in case you'd deserted him

I don't have a speciality cooking-wise. I work in the kitchen of a small psychiatric unit so the menu is pretty unambitious. Reminds me of when I used to have school dinners. I'm not really keen on cooking at home either

once I've been boiling potatoes all morning at work, although I can do a mean (although lig-staining) curry when I put my mind to it.

Ken, a new wiring loom for the Spit is a possibility, but classic Brit cars are as you say notorious for poor quality electrics. We lag way behind the Americans when it comes to trim on cars. Our 77 TransAm had electric windows, air-con, the works - but it wasn't till probably the mid to late 1990s that such things were pretty well standard on new British cars.

Here's hoping you don't get buried under all those spare parts in the basement. Don't forget to make room for Kimmy cuz I don't want her kept outside when I ship her over.

Sending over some handcuffs, ken. While I've never been addicted to ciggies, my smoking mates who have quit say the first few weeks are the worst. So hang in there, you can do it.

Hey Ken, ole buddy, glad to hear you are joining the smokeless crowd. When you get the urge, it should help to breathe very deeply and slowly for a couple of minutes, (sans smokes of course). The slow, deep breathing will have a relaxing and calming effect. Also, drink more water too. Hope this helps and I am rooting for your success!!

Way to go! Quitting smoking is one of the hardest things to do, so you deserve huge props!

I concur with Meryaten, spend the money that you aren't buying cigarettes with on something you want, you deserve it!

Good to hear about the adjustment going so well, also. Here's to more progress!
