Hey klobird! Nope, I have metal - lucky me....haha wow, 2 hours make a difference?! wow. Yeh, same I am not running to the bathroom as frequent as I used to
Re: OK--This was not the plan!
I have all metal also.
I have to admit that I don't run to the bathroom as quickly as I should to brush my teeth too. I still brush 3 times a day but I am not as psycho as I was the first month.
I have a 3 month cleaning this month. If I have a cavity, I will probably break into tears.

Hey Tink and Bip--
I see superdentist next Monday. I might have said this before, but if I have a cavity it's only because I brushed a hole in my tooth! I know I would have to ask superdentist how that would even be possible with all the cleaning, and drinking almost all liquids with a straw...
Hey Tink---when you have your cleaning, do you get your wire out first? I'm on vacation next week and I am going to be spending all Monday on dental stuff. First, go to ortho to get wires off. Then go to superdentist. Then go back to get wires back on...well..it might be kinda nice to have the wires off for a while! Do you get your cleaning every 3 months??? Did you decide that or the ortho/dentist?
Bip--how many adjustments have you had so far? Your next adjustment makes adjustment # what? How many times have you had your wire changed? Has your ortho said anything about elastics yet?
OK, so I don't actually "hate" people who are getting their braces off...I am just so extremely jealous, and feel like it is so far away, that it will never actually happen...I think I would have a better attitude if I saw some real changes, but I really don't see any change that is wowing me yet....

Re: OK--This was not the plan!
I have to post this---I just woke up from a "braces dream". I had looked in the mirror and my teeth were ALL OVER THE PLACE crooked and my braces were climbing hill and dale and all out yonder!!
You know, I've heard they might get worse before they get better, but

My dentist wants me to get the wires out. The ortho wants me to have cleanings every 3 months and my dentist told me that it would not be a bad idea. Even though it is a hassle to make an appointment to get the wires out, a cleaning appointment and then get the wire put back, I would rather make sure my teeth and gum are doing good. Maybe next year I will be more comfortable with everything and go back to every 6 months.

Re: OK--This was not the plan!
The exact same thing happened to me. I also could not prepare myself for my LAST SUPPER! LOL
I only had 4 spacers put in though. 3 plastic and a metal one.
I enjoy reading your posts

Re: OK--This was not the plan!
Hey Pooh--what is a metal spacer? The last time the assistant told me that if she couldn't get the rubber spacer in that she would have to use a metal one..(she kept breaking the floss trying to get the rubber one in..) She finally got it in, but gave me the feeling that metal would not be fun at all...???
Re: OK--This was not the plan!
Hey klobird. Just like you've mentioned, metal ones are the alternatives to the plastic spacers -- if they cannot be placed in. I was only the second individual to get one at my clinic...something I'm proud of I guess LOL
The assistant also hinted to me that metal ones would be more uncomfortable. However, to my surprise they were easier to put in and feel much better -- no pain! Though I must add, I can't see the metal one so unless they're really good or mine fell off (hence, the no pain). LOL

Re: OK--This was not the plan!
Well, I guess what I don't understand is if they put a metal spacer in to make room for a metal band, why don't they just put the metal band in then?
Ok, so 15 weeks down--89 to go....

Re: OK--This was not the plan!
Hey klobird! Ah, spacers...the metal ones made me paranoid - I kept on fearing they have fallen out. Seriously, I understand...why on earth do they need to put spacers in?! What is the point of all that...hehe let me know if you find out, one day So how are your teeth feeling??
Re: OK--This was not the plan!
I see change!! One rotated tooth in front is moving--slowly--but it is moving!! And I think my overjet is actually coming in some...he said that after this adjustment I would start to see change--whew, finally. I was getting a little bored with the nothing happening thing
Ok, so last night I was flossing. The archwire popped out of the back buccal tube. This tube is connected to the very rotated back in "no man's land" molar. So, I was trying to put the archwire back into the buccal tube and it popped backward and broke off!
Well, tomorrow I go to the ortho's office to get the archwire taken off and then I go to my regular dentist for my 6 month check-up. They are going to see that the archwire broke off at the end. I get charged $50 when something breaks on my braces. If they are putting the same wires back in when I come back from my regular dentist, but tell me they are going to charge me the $50 to put a new top archwire in, then I'm going to tell them to just keep using the broken one until the next wire change and see what they say/do....
I figure it's my rotated tooth in the back, and I already paid for the archwire that I broke. I could care less if that rotated tooth ever moves. It's so far back that I can hardly see it! So, then if they still charge me $50 for breaking it, even though I leave it all the same, then I have to assume that they are just punishing me like a child or something. And I will flip out on them, I know I will....ok, I need to figure out how to keep my cool in case they are the sh*t heads they have continuously proven to be.....
We will see--I can be a nasty little b*tch when the occasion arises, but then I'm always sorry later. But man, when they are unreasonable it's really difficult to keep my cool, and I have been working so hard at trying to get along with these people...

Re: OK--This was not the plan!
So, anyway--long story short--they didn't end up charging me the $50. They said that the broken archwire was still usable, and that very back tooth can wait until the next archwire...it would have been a really bad day if they had charged me the $50!!
So, my regular dentist said my teeth are "immaculate". That there isn't anything right now that she can do to make them better...my teeth are very, very far from being great teeth--but with what I have, they are the best they can be! So, I'm happy about that. I still need one crown, but not until I am done with braces. I don't have to have any gum grafts. EVER!!
YIPPEEEE!!!!!
OK, she was "wowed" by how much my teeth have changed for the better...I was really surprised. I just don't see it... She asked if I wanted to see my before pictures and compare. I didn't want to. I still feel really ashamed of my teeth, even with the ortho treatment.
I asked her to measure my overjet to see if there has been any change. It went from 7mm to 5!!! I am really happy that there has been movement!! REALLY HAPPY!!
So, in 4 weeks from today, the ortho will take pics of everything and evaluate the root positions, and decide if brackets need to be repositioned etc. He said it would be a long appt. hmmmm.....

Re: OK--This was not the plan!
EFF IT ALL TO EFFING HELL!!!!!!! I was flossing my teeth and realized the ortho assistant forgot the wire ties on the 2 front teeth-aaahhhhhh. That means I have to go back AGAIN.
I thought I had 4 weeks of peace to look forward to!!!! AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: OK--This was not the plan!
That sucks!!!
The assistant I had last time didn't put an o-ring on my 2nd premolar and when I was flossing, it moved back. A week later, I went in to get a wire clipped and brought it to the ortho's attention. She said that I sure did move it out of place. She had to add a o-ring and that stupid tooth has been aching off and on for the last week.
I think I am going to consider checking my teeth before I leave the ortho's office each time. I am not sure if I will wait till I get to the car to check or be a brat and bring a pocket mirror with me.
Hope you get it fixed smoothly.
