Re: New to the board
Maple - good luck at your adjustment.
I still do not see a change except that the other teeth have moved around the crooked tooth. Frustrating. Even the lovely space that had opened up for the tooth to turn is now gone.
No idea what ortho will say... guess I will find out soon enough (adjustment in 2 weeks).
Took pics to compare...

My one year anniversary for having braces is Wednesday - that went fast!
Re: New to the board
You've made awesome progress regardless of the one tooth. How frustrating though! Did they put power chains on either side of the tooth?

Thanks!cata wrote:You've made awesome progress regardless of the one tooth. How frustrating though! Did they put power chains on either side of the tooth?
No, I am surprised he didn't do a chain on the one tooth instead of what he did do, it seemed to me that if he had done that it would have turned and had the space still...now the space is all closed up again and the tooth is unchanged. ~sigh~
I go for my regular dental cleaning tomorrow and then for an adjustment at ortho next week where I guess he will tell me what is next as far as the crazy tooth.

Holy wow! Well congrats for sticking around this site for an entire year, and for enduring the adult metal mouth too lol. 12 days until my 1 year braceface celebration, I can hardly believe it as well.
Best of luck for the next year or how ever long you have!

Thanks Maple! You are closing on your 1 year mark also. I have 1.5 years left I think... I mean, I am dreaming it is less...but reality it probably is another year and a half.mapleleafman888 wrote:Holy wow! Re: New to the board
Yup today is my 1 year mark (posted a new photo)! Again, time goes by soooo fast.
Asides from your wonky tooth, as you call it, what else is left to work on? It looks like the rest of your teeth are straight.
Oh, and what went on at the last adjustment?

I had my latest adjustment last week. He walked over looked and said, well, that tooth is larger than I realized. He said he is going to make it fit, and then proceeded to file between my teeth some more. Man do I dislike that. I guess if it gets the tooth in there then it's worth it in the end.mapleleafman888 wrote:Yup today is my 1 year mark (posted a new photo)! Again, time goes by soooo fast.

They just re-cinched my top wire, I got a bigger wire on the bottom and that's about it.
Everything else is good as far as my bite and my top teeth are all in place. The lower is a bit misaligned now because of the turning of the crazy tooth. He said at my next adjustment he expects to take off the sliding bracket and replace it with a regular bracket to get the wonky tooth in it's correct spot. I sure hope so. It has felt like I took two giant steps backward!
Your smile looks GREAT! I know you are thrilled! I still have not asked how much longer he thinks I have. I have been waiting to ask until I See some major improvement in the wonky tooth.

Re: New to the board
It certainly looks like it's moving! Your teeth are beautiful, by the way! Here's hoping your wayward tooth gets inline quickly
•Braces placed August 14, 2014
•Deband November 11, 2015
•Permanent retainer top and bottom
•Essix retainers top and bottom 16 hr/day for a year and then nightly afterwards.

I agree the tooth IPR has to be the worst! Hate shaving away good tooth but oh well at least it's getting worked on, yes I definitely see in the picture that the tooth is coming around! Is it pretty painful?TrustGodAuburn wrote:I had my latest adjustment last week. He walked over looked and said, well, that tooth is larger than I realized. Well TGA, I'm no ortho but I can not see how you'd be another 1.5 years out...in my unprofessional opinion maybe 6 months hahaha! Or do you have some tooth in the center of your palate that needs to be tugged over 29mm?
Thanks! I'm happy with how things are looking, on Thursday I go in for my regular appointment. Ortho said he would start working on my upper heights now that mostly everything else is aligned, still have about 2-3 mm of vertical space on my right side before my teeth touch.

I hope your unprofessional opinion is correct...imagine the FREEDOM of not having braces. LOL.mapleleafman888 wrote: I agree the tooth IPR has to be the worst! The tooth that is turning and the two beside it are rather painful. I find that I avoid that area when eating, drinking, swishing, etc.
So glad to have that first year behind us tho!
