I had my adjustment today. We moved from Ni-Ti to steel wire (.19x.25 I believe) and I don't have my wire tie on my front teeth anymore; other than that everything is the same. Class 3 elastics (switched from Japan to Bear but apparently they're the same it's just a different company), powerchained 2-2 on top and 3-3 on bottom.

My diastema has been closed completely since a day or two after my last adjustment. There has been no noticeable change at all for the past 8 weeks. I admittedly was awful with my elastics but I'm gonna do better this time and hopefully we will see my lower arch move back.

My powerchains are blue! The next ones I get will either be purple again, or gray, depending on what my friend wants. (It's right before her wedding and I'm a bridesmaid.)

In non-braces life, I've lost over 41 lbs now and can't wait to close in on 50! Things have been very stressful due to work-related issues. Sorry I've been so quiet. :)

They're coming out almost lilac in the pic, but they're actually like a royal blue.

They're looking great! :) The spaces are really closing up. And I love the powerchain colors. Sometime I'm going to be brave and have colored bottom ligs. lol. Maybe in the spring. :)

Also congrats on the weight loss! :D

Thanks everyone! Ridingboots, thanks for reading this whole long crazy journal! I'm a lot less stressed than I was back then (about braces, at least), but it was way more exciting then lol!

I'm happy with my weight loss too  I've got a long way to go yet, but it's nice to see progress, both orthodontically (is that a word haha) and weight-wise.

nicolie, it's so funny that we are basically braces twins at this point! (Except you didn't have any pain haha, I haven't forgiven you for that yet!) However, we will deviate this time as my next adjustment is 8 weeks again, not 6, and it's on December 29. Maybe we'll meet up again in the spring!

Ack, MY TEETH HURT SO FREAKING BAD. :soremouth:  :soremouth:  :soremouth:  :soremouth:  :soremouth:  :soremouth:  Even soft cheese and a banana are hurting them. My front teeth hurt like usual after an adjustment, plus now that I'm being a good girl with my elastics, the molars that are anchoring them feel like they are being stabbed. Hopefully it will all calm down in a day or two. My mouth hurt so bad when I woke up that I gave myself a 2-hour break from my elastics and it was like stepping foot on land after being stranded at sea for months, lol. Such a HUGE sense of relief! When I put them back on my mood instantly soured by 50%

Here's to lots of good progress for all of us!!! :jump:

Oh, also wanted to say that I'm really tired of my vampire teeth - my upper canines are so far apart from my laterals & centrals. I keep asking about them at every single adjustment, lol, and apparently we can't move them back together until we get my lower arch to cooperate. There will likely be many more months of vampire teeth

Woo hoo, your teeth look great!!

I'm almost a triplet with you and nicolie as I got braces May 21...not sure how our adjustments have lined up, though. I have my next one on Monday.

I looked back at your initial photo and the change is huge. You must be so happy! I had vampire teeth too, though in my case it was because my canines protruded out. You will be amazed at how quickly that will go away once they get moving. I had vampy teeth my whole life and within about 2 months, they were gone.

Your progress is great. I just read through your whole journey, I am happy for you that you are seeing alot of progress. I just got my braces on Nov 6. I have a gap that i hate and I hope my gap closes just as fast as yours.

I need to change the title of this journal to "Omg I am so BORED with braces"

Nothing changes anymore, just the same old pain of cleaning them day in and day out and remembering to put my elastics back in. No more fun progress pics. Plus, I got engaged earlier this month and even though we're not getting married until May 2016, that won't even be 2 years in braces yet, and I'm scheduled for 2.5 years. So looks like I will be a bride with braces. :paperbag:

I have an adjustment on Monday and I hope we go up in elastics strength or something just so I can see some movement. I see now why so many people say they want to double up on elastics or change the configuration - it would be so nice to see SOMETHING!!!!

Sorry to complain. I just hope this time goes by quickly. :gavel:

Thanks Ridingboots! I will try my best to keep a positive attitude.

I just got out of my adjustment. Thankfully we moved up in elastics strength, from Bear/Japan to Rams. I hope to see some movement!!! It's a struggle to stay 100% compliant when you're so bored but I am going to focus on flossing (kinda fell by the wayside) and 24/7 elastics wear so that I can maximize my chances for progress. Nothing else changed except my powerchain color. I got a silvery gray to kind of blend in as I am in a wedding in less than two weeks. I am also apparently in a finishing wire and have been for awhile. She said I have one of the heaviest and other than him tweaking the shape we may never change it. So hopefully most of my adjustments from here out should be minimally painful.

I only have 4 weeks until my next adjustment -- first time it's ever been that short. More motivation to be as compliant as possible! I also have a cleaning - on the 19th I think. I'm so excited to see my dentist as I have missed her so much! I'm going to ask to be put back on three month recall as its so hard to clean around my braces that I want to make sure everything gets professionally cleaned more than 2x per year.

Congrats on getting engaged! We've both gotten engaged since getting braces and will both be braced brides.

I know how you feel about getting bored, I'm pretty much there, too. It doesn't look like I'll be getting elastics before surgery though, but I finally got my first power chain. It's not so bad but I only had one small gap.

I've lapsed on flossing as well, but got a WaterPik for Christmas. I see why people here are obsessed with them.

How's your weight loss going?

Am I remembering right that someone on here got her braces taken off for her wedding day and then put back on?? Or am i imagining that? I can imagine that would be a pain (and maybe expensive?), but maybe it's an option? I WISH I had had straight teeth for my wedding (almost 5 years ago now). They seem so obvious to me in my photos (especially my front teeth). Having braces and nearly straight teeth would probably have been better!

Do you happen to know the series of elastic strength? I'm in rabbit right now and was in fox before and have no idea where I am on the scale of elastic strength. Ram sounds pretty brutal !

Congratulations and have fun planning your wedding!!
