Adjustment 2
Adjustment two has just passed. The ortho was happy with my progress, which is good. I got to get my spring removed, my wayward tooth wired in with a wire tie, and new ligs.
Here's a pic (mind the silly tongue action, I was excited about the new colour):

Hmmm it must be then. I'm thinking they want to get the flaring, or most of it taken care of. It's much better than before, I think, I haven't taken any profile pics lately.TL I'm on my second wire (in nearly 18 months) ... it's still round, and most of my gaps have been closed using powerchains.
It's probably an ortho's personal choice ... but it can be done most anytime I think.
What does the shape of the wire have to do with anything anyways? Does it give it strength or something?

3 months down.... No pictures this month, life is a little bit packed.... Plus, I found that whilst there were noticeable changes (to me) at the ends of the 1st and 2nd months, this month has been a bit slower. I think there is perhaps movement happening at the back, but recently not much appears to have been going on up the front. As a consequence this month has felt like it has passed more slowly on the braces front.
I'll add pictures after my next adjustment, which is Wed 28th Feb, and get your views.
Until then, wish me luck juggling a new job (in educational policy) with finishing writing up a PhD thesis. Man am I masochistic or what??!!

I just had my third adjustment today, just over 3 months into my braced period. It was a long and fairly eventful adjustment (much to the orthos surprise), and I am really happy with it. This may sound bizarre but the gap between my front teeth has literally halved in the 6 hours since my adjustment. Okay it was only about 1mm, but still. I haven't seen movement like that ever!!
Things that happened today:
1. New, stronger wire on top (first wire change so far)
2. New ligs on top (still light silver, which I love)
3. Removal of temporary bracket on wayward lower tooth and replacement with a Damon 3mx to match with the rest of my lowers
4. Replacement wire on the bottom, but the same as I had there before
I'll add pictures when I get the chance.
Sooooo excited that my gap is finally going!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's been almost a year since surgery and I started creating it, and whilst I have been happy since it stopped being almost a centimetre, full closure will result in a large party at my house.

My 4th Adjustment!
It was my 4th adjustment today. I think! (I am losing track of things these days). Anyway, it has been 4.75 months.
The 6 weeks since the last adjustment have gone swimmingly. No dramas to note.
At the adjustment today:
1. I was given a new rectangular wire for the bottom (014 NT) and kept the same, 2nd, top wire (018 NT).
2. This nasty bottom wire now goes to my 7s, which is going to be a challenge!
3. My top ligs were changed from silver to tooth. My orthos adult client numbers are increasing and he finally seems to be understanding many of us have common needs, which are different to those of children. He is now getting us to experiment with colours so he knows what to order, and he is finally getting that we/I want to know some of the details of my treatment!
4. I was told by the hygienist that I was doing a great job with cleaning.
So it was all good. And here are some pics!!
PS. Please note absence of gap!!!
