Your teeth are looking awesome! Looks like they are making progress, so that's good.

Hey all!

Just thought I would update. My teeth are on the move! I'm still on holidays and my next adjustment isn't till the 23rd, so my archwire and powerchains are looking pretty gross, but my midline is straightening up! Also, the gap that was on my top right (left in the earlier photo) has closed. Here's a photo from a week ago:

I'm pretty happy :)

Just wondering which tooth you're referring to- I don't really know what's in crossbite at the moment, as I'm not very good with ortho stuff!

EDIT: I was in a hurry earlier, so I realise I may have come off as sounding a tad illiterate. What I meant to say is that I don't exactly know what the "correct" bite looks like, so I don't know how to spot a crossbite etc. I just know that I have one.

Thanks Meryaten, that's the one I thought you were mentioning, I just wasn't sure. I mentioned this problem to my ortho at my last adjustment, but she wasn't too worried, she just said that as things shifted it'd get better. I'll be bringing it up again on the 23rd.

Also, thank you everyone for your lovely words of encouragement!

Another adjustment!

Not too many changes at this one- more IPR, the powerchains were removed and I got a different colour down the bottom (purple). It was such a relief to get the top ones changed- it had been over 8 weeks since my last adjustment, and I’d been overseas and enjoying Christmas, so my ligs were nasty looking. I’m a bit annoyed, though, because my ortho didn’t change my lig on my top lateral where I have the wire hook, so my tooth looks really dingy in comparison with the others, and she also didn't change my archwire, which is really chipped (you can't really tell from the photo). I’m now wearing one of my three elastics 24 hours a day, and the other two at 12 hours a day like before. I also have to get an X-ray before my next adjusment (which is on March 11th) to check on my roots and because I’m going to be getting some brackets adjusted.

Here’s a picture!

Thought I'd shift this onto the third page so people don't have to go back.

Haven't written or posted pictures in a while because my computer is dead and I'm waiting to get my new one, but I thought I'd pop in and update.

Things are coming along well. Like I said, I won't be having an adjustment till March, so nothing to report there. Just had a dental check up today, no cavities, she said she was really impressed with my hygiene and that I didn't have to come back for a year!

Also, as I mentioned in my previous post, I'm getting an X-ray of my teeth next week, for three reasons- 1 is to check my wisdom teeth, 2 is to know how to readjust some brackets at my next adjustment, and the other is to check how my roots are going. Just wondering if anyone else has had to have an X-ray to check on their roots 6 months or so into braces. I'm sure it'll be fine, but I'm just a little paranoid there's something wrong with my roots or something!

Any feedback much appreciated,

DW :)

I'm sure there's nothing wrong with your roots. Sounds pretty normal to me. I had a panoramic X-ray about 6 months in too and then my ortho decided to reposition two of the brackets based on that X-ray. I wonder how many more x-rays there will be. I get excited about X-rays (not that I want to be exposed to a lot of radiation) but the pictures excite me. I get to see the changes and because all the x-rays and photos that they take at the office get uploaded to their internet database, if I log into my account I can look at them online too.. and well.. I'm OCD or something, I've saved digital copies for myself of all the pictures and x-rays they've taken... for posterity.. yeah. .

That's so cool that you can log on and access photos and X-rays and stuff! If they had that at my ortho, I'd be doing the same thing. As it is, I take regular photos of my mouth and date them. It's fun to layer them on top of each other and see the changes.

Again, no photos, sorry! I should get my new computer in a week, so new photos will be posted then.

Only thing to report is that I got my x-ray the other day, and the technician commented "you're looking very straight", which was a little... amusing. It was cool to see all my teeth lined up in black and white. My left wisdom teeth seemed a little impacted. I'm assuming I'll be getting them out at some stage this year.

Finally, a photo!

Sorry it's so washed-out looking. I couldn't get any good light. Probably there aren't very obvious changes, but my midline is definitely improving and my right lower canine is moving in the right direction- behind my top teeth! I'm looking forward to my next adjustment, because I'll be getting brackets readjusted (hopefully then my two front teeth won't look so uneven!) which means I'll definitely be getting a new top archwire to replace the grungy one I have now.

As always, the ligs are looking HIDEOUS! I'd get "pearl" or "smoke" ligs, as have been mentioned in other threads, but my ortho doesn't have any like that. She only has clear, or really obvious ones like colours and black. I think she may also have grey, but I don't know what they look like on ceramics. Does anyone have any photos?

Anyway, here's another photo of my teeth!
