shinyRiver -- Ack, thought I replied to this! And yeah, I think I'm doing a good job keeping them clean. I had asked when I got the lingual wire put on and at least then supposedly wasn't missing anywhere.
In fact...
Only took 7 weeks and 3 nights of getting floss caught on my upper right wisdom bracket hook (almost every single night at least a tad!) for the bracket to snap off...
Only bracket mishap so far, though! But not sure if I should go by about it or not? Probably should find out sometime this week when want/need to get it back on by at least... Kinda nice to be able to floss 'behind' it without the floss being eaten by the bracket, though. But...feels odd for that bracket to suddenly not be there.
And, since posting, might as well update a tad:
- I can get one of those little brushes in between Mr. NARC and his neighbour(s).
- Wow, left side lateral incisor is actually now slightly *in front of* the canine. Still slightly behind the central incisor, but, wow has he moved.
- Left lateral (and upper central) incisors are *not* happy. Ouch. Hitting quite painfully. Semi-hoping I'll get that third bite ramp (that I *almost* got on brace day) in 2.5 weeks.
I plan on posting more update pictures later this week.

And.....8 weeks since braced! Also 6 weeks 2 days since the bit of lingual wire was added.
Front closed fully, and then open a bit:

Upper and lower:

Erm, again, for the most part, not much has changed. But look at that lower left (right in pic) lateral incisor! I think the right one is starting to move now as well now that the left one has 'escaped' from behind the canine.
Only other (significant) changes I can see are: A) Mr. NARC looks like he's moved back more--Mr. Fangy also looks like he has moved more 'forward' (medially) maybe? And B) Deep bite is even less deep.

jensceana73 -- Thanks! And, again, that lower wire really isn't as scary as it looks! And, what, it probably looks like a built in food processor? It *does* somehow turn rice into mush, though (and, eww, rice plastered nooks and crannies, and there's a lot of those on the bottom!).
I've actually even been able to stop putting wax on that one spot since about when that left lateral incisor budged mostly into place. However, I think that's because the wire has shifted slightly, and, erm, since then the furthest to the right two loop/hook things are, well...pressing pretty good into my gums! Not at all painful, though; like the wire it's more just scary looking.
It'll be interesting to see if I keep that wire or get something a bit less bendy next week! Nine days... Also to see if Mr. Fangy gets included. And if so whether he just gets put on the wire, or gets his springs. If the latter, be warned: he *might* look scarier than that lower wire!

Hmm, what lig colours should I get Wed?!
Tempted by purple on top and black on the bottom.... My lower canine/lat incisor brackets do show a bit occasionally when I talk (I think), but just smiling nothing shows so I'd think black on the bottom would be okay if I ended up with a job interview... (again, still haven't applied yet, so I don't really expect any before I'd get 'em changed again, but never know!).
Other possibilities are: All purple! (Original plan!) Other thoughts? Kinda want purple on top for sure.

Well, first adjustment was today! My ortho said 'nice' about half a dozen times in some form. Really surprised how well (and much) things have changed.
Thought I'd add a couple (well, three) pictures. And, yes, if haven't noticed I am *pale*. I wear white foundation. Awful that my skin is whiter than my teeth. Anyway...
Big crisp pic from the front--purple on top, black on bottom!:

Mr. Fangy and his friendly bumper tube thing (2nd bicuspid still not wired...tried, but not quite!). Mr. Fangy is wire-tied:

Lower arch (now braced back to the 1st molars--those weren't in my last lower arch shot...oops):

Upper wire is .016, lower is .014 (previous were both .014). Not sure what kind. The ortho was trying to remember why I got the fancy wire last time, and while I remembered 'why' I forgot to say the why behind the why--my nickel allergy! SS just wouldn't bend enough with how my teeth were... So I don't know if these are NiTi or SS. If the first I hope I don't react. No tingling yet (only about 5 hours, though) like with the bit of lingual wire, though!
Oh, and the upper right lateral incisor (Mr. Wonky? he's leaning...) got his lig on all the way! He and his left-side match are both quite tender at the moment. As are my lower teeth canine to canine! Ouch, ouch, ouch. The ligs on those hurt going on. And quite a few of my teeth are kinda...clicking if poked.

Re: DesertCat's Story
Well, today (Dec 1st) was 2nd adjustment. Four months, one week and one day in.
Last week our area got hit HARD with snow, and I had to reschedule, so this is a week late (the adjustment, not this post). Bah.
Not much has changed, although lower fronts are more level, Mr. Backwards is more fully backwards, and well, the deep bite thing has fixed even more. Oh, and look at the lower left (right in pic) 1st molar! He is *much* less tilted than he was.
Anyway...
1. Got 'burgundy' ligs this time.
2. Upper arch got a .020 x .020 *square* wire.
And ouch.
3. Lower arch got a .016 round wire (what the upper had before).
4. Bit of lingual wire got 'reactivated'. Both of those brackets got wire ties (instead of just the one).
5. Mr. Fangy may get his pushing spring next time!
Jan 13th--just 6 weeks this time!
Pardon the poor pics...

And...Mr. Fangy gets a bit of special attention:

Mr. Fangy and Co. are screaming for pain killers.

Re: DesertCat's Story
So...yesterday the 13th was 3rd adjustment.
- Aqua on top, teal on bottom...couldn't decide.
- Same wires more or less. Top wire is 'new' as it needed to be longer on that top left, due to...
- Mr. Fangy's pushing spring!
But...ouch.
Mr. Fangy also got a wire tie again I'm guessing because of the spring.
All from Jan 13th...either just before or after going.

And...Mr. Fangy...
His companion has done some more shifting (as has Mr. Fangy himself I'm sure).
Dec 23rd (5 month mark and half way between last two adjustments):

Jan 13th right after home from ortho:

I guess those around Mr. Fangy have to do the 'get worse before getting better' bit. As, apparently, do my front lowers (although they are now in a neat little arch minus that 1st bicuspid..which needs its bracket repositioned at some point).
And, yes, the stuff on that left hurts...I hope it gets used to that spring a bit....

Re: DesertCat's Story
WOW! Only the 3rd adjustment? You're teeth are looking great! So much progress already! And I love the teal ligs, they're so pretty
.

Re: DesertCat's Story
sjs8906 -- Ack, somehow missed your reply! So sorry.
But, yes, fair bit of progress (and yes, that last post was just the 3rd adjustment). And, yep, the teal (and aqua, really) were pretty.
Now, off to make up another update post...

Re: DesertCat's Story
4th Adjustment was March 10th @ ~ 7.5 months in...
Changes:
- Bottom wire is the same...from the *2nd* adjustment in...November. 0.016 round.
- Top...oh boy:
....New wire: 0.025 x 0.019. Rectangular. Ouch.
....New (longer) spring for Mr. Fangy. Double ouch.
....Oh, and lingual wire was bent again, while still wire-tied to 1st molar. Triple ouch.
New lig colours are light blue on top, and alternating light blue and lilac on the bottom.
All pics from the 10th except the upper arch (which was from today the 12th):

And Mr. Fangy:

As can see Mr. Fangy has moved. A lot, really... He is now more or less where the 1st bicuspid should/will eventually be. Distance between points of upper canines is now roughly (4pm on March 11th): 3.7-3.8 cm. I believe this was 4.0 or 4.1 cm at some point before (don't remember when).
Which, by the way, see the funky triangle elastic? Why? I mean I can guess one reason why (it *is* leaning a bit, and still behind his neighbor slightly...no where near as much as Mr. Wonky still is, though...and probably will be for a while!). But...anyone think I should drop back by or something to see if it should have been fully put on? Will it cause any issues if left for 8 weeks (5th May...).
Oh, and Mr. NARC (bicuspid in Mr. Fangy's way) only got an elastic tie this time, and Mr. Fangy just got a wire tie--no lig on top of it this time. Aww.

Re: DesertCat's Story
WOW!!! Your 7-month progress is just incredible. With the exception of that stubborn Mr. Fangy, the rest of them look just about all straight! Don't worry - we all have at least one stubborn one. I have a lower lateral that I have absolutely NO idea how he's going to get in line, outside of doing some IPR and then turning it in. But I trust him.
I'm loving your light blue and lilac ligs, too - they look like Easter! Have you noticed your lilac staining at all? I really want to try a lavendar powerchain next week, but I'm so afraid of it looking horrid after a couple of weeks, so I might go with a darker purple.
Great progress, my dear. Oh, and in case you haven't noticed, I am very pale, too! Yes, I know I live in Hawaii, but skin cancer just isn't worth it to me. I'd much rather people tell me that I look 10 years younger than I am than get melanoma. haha

Re: DesertCat's Story
Hi, and thanks! Yeah, surprised how fast on a couple of things (the deep bite going vamoose and the unjumbling/derotating of the lowers), but some things haven't even been started on (like poking on my right side wisdoms...and that one tooth on the bottom that couldn't get the bracket on the 'front', so it's still rather rotated). But my lower laterals were behind both the centrals and canines, and now they're not. No IPR (as of yet--they are rather trapezoidal, though, so a bit worried it might be suggested--they're now all leaning to the sides a bit
), so your stubborn tooth might just move...
And Mr. Fangy isn't actually all that stubborn...he just has a long way to move and has to move past another tooth.
The *real* stubborn one is that upper right lateral incisor. The flat edge that's at an angle (not the chip on the canine side, the other side)? That's the bottom edge of that tooth. Plus quite a bit of it is still behind the central incisor.
It's straightened a fair bit, really (and probably going to move a bit this go--he hurts quite a bit right now), but it's going soooo slow. And might take a while as let's just say I wonder if that bracket will need repositioned at some point. The left one is also a bit off, but I think the triangle-tie off (intentional or not! got sick so never went back to ask...) might fix him finally.
I put the lilac with the light blue as didn't want all light blue and wasn't sure what else would go with it (and didn't want pink!). And, yeah, spring-time kinda influenced the choice a bit. That, and couldn't decide what to put with med blue or green...
And still don't know for next time!
And no, I didn't notice any staining with the lilac. Not sure if lavender would be diff. I have pics of the lilac at the 4 and 8 week mark (had for a total of 10 weeks) I think near the top of this page? I ate spaghetti sauce (often with added chili powder, cayenne pepper, and red pepper flakes and that kind of spicy stuff--'easy' chili) 1-2 times a day for the first several weeks due to not being able to chew much... But don't drink coffee or tea, nor did I have any mustard (or curry--well, a boxed red curry noodle thing, but don't think that counts). Just blackberries and (a lot of) chocolate, neither of whch I think stain as bad as the other stuff.
Lilac held up super well to tomato stains, though!

Re: DesertCat's Story
5th adjustment, May 5th, 2011 (pics taken the 6th), at ~9.5 months in:
Kinda boring, but...not!
- Same wires.
- Lingual wire removed (still have the brackets for now), no more bumper tube between the canine and lateral incisor.
- Heavy duty (smoke? the 'strong' ones--didn't get to pick
) powerchain on top (from Mr. Fangy to right 1st molar), shamrock green ligs on bottom.

I'm a bit surprised got the powerchain given Mr. Wonky (right lateral incisor) is still leaning/behind the central...kinda thought usually things were more in line? Should get Mr. Fangy marching along, though, I'd think.
Next appointment is mid-July, or almost 10 weeks (bit earlier in the week).
