Re: Crazy4Snow's Path to a Perfect Smile
Well, today marks 2 weeks in braces and I thought I'd share with you the changes that I see. My snaggletooth upper left lateral incisor...I see a big movement there especially if you look at the archwire on that tooth. Yay! And then, the canine on my upper right is noticeably moving as well (or the teeth around it are), I'm so excited!!! And finally, my lower central incisor has visibly moved..yay! I see other changes after studying the photos for a while but the ones I mentioned are the most notable.
This is the exciting part of having braces for me, seeing results! Makes the agony somehow worth it.
Here's the progress photo:

I'm 40 and am thinking of getting braces. I enjoyed hearing your story and it gives me a little bit of strength to go through with it. I am scared of all the after effects but i think it will be worth it. Thanks for your great attitude and stay positive and i hope things work out.

Thanks khub!!! It's hard work doing a blog, designing it, learning HTML (that alone is agony), posting at least every other day...but it's also a lot of fun and I'm going to enjoy looking back at it all one day when my smile is perfect.
I'm also hoping it can somehow help someone else, I know I was full of questions and such so the more information "out there" the better!

Re: Crazy4Snow's Path to a Perfect Smile
The pain is back...how I wish for the "numb teeth" sensation again! I updated my blogspot blog and wanted to come here and post some progress photos as well.
Today marks exactly 3 weeks since I got braces and here's the photo I took this morning:
Have a wonderful day y'all.

Re: Crazy4Snow's Path to a Perfect Smile
Well, I've discovered that I'm grinding my teeth at night AND when I'm not grinding I have a tendency to slight suck in my cheeks and then of course wind up biting them. OUCH!!!
The canker sores have finally reared their ugly head and wax is my new best friend.
I still can't chew because my back teeth don't come together...still. I'll be so glad once my top front teeth can clear those dang bottom brackets.
How long has that taken y'all?

Your teeth are such a beautiful colour and shape, they're going to look amazing when the braces come off! To answer your question about the bite, mine was mostly normal (as normal as it can be with these metal devils stuck to my teeth ) after about 2 weeks, but it's so different for everyone that I wouldn't worry too much about it if I were you. It definitely isn't pleasant, but I think it's totally normal. Keep the updates coming, I love seeing other people's progress pics!

Re: Crazy4Snow's Path to a Perfect Smile
Thanks Steph. I'll be so happy to have them reshaped when the braces come off, all the edges evened up. I love seeing progress pictures too! It lets me know all this crap is worth the pain and aggravation.

Re: Crazy4Snow's Path to a Perfect Smile
Wow, I was studying those "smile" pictures I posted earlier today and noticed that my ligatures have faded big time. I thought maybe it was the lighting with the camera but when I checked in the mirror (which I seem to do many times a day, lol) they have in fact faded.
That's okay...I think I'm gonna try plain ole silver on my first adjustment, I'm kinda tired of colors on there.

Re: Crazy4Snow's Path to a Perfect Smile
I can't wait to get mine evened out too! I think with everything moving around, the uneven edges have become MUCH more noticeable. But, I guess that's part of the "it gets worse before it gets better" phase. And you're right...all of the crap we have to go through with these things will be well worth it in the end! At this point I mostly just want to fast forward through the next few months to when my teeth are all nice and straight, because at least then the braces look pretty as opposed to uneven wires and stupid coil springs (in my case lol).

Re: Crazy4Snow's Path to a Perfect Smile
I agree Stepher...I like a straight archwire! My sister said if she had to wear braces she'd want to sleep through the whole 2 years. I'm like ummm....no thank you...I like seeing the changes.
Nothing worth having ever comes easily...we'll appreciate our smiles when we're done.

I just updated my blog with the 4 week progress photos...since I've posted so many photos lately here I thought I'd skip it this time before y'all get bored looking. But if you ARE interested in seeing the pictures just visit my blog and there they are.

Re: Crazy4Snow's Path to a Perfect Smile
I like seeing your progress pictures. I'm always amazed at how these little brackets and wires can totally change someone's smile. I'm not taking weekly progress photos, but mostly my braces are closing gaps, not straightening. I'll do a picture before every adjustment though. (I don't feel like I'm seeing much movement either, so kind of a bummer).
I like the colored ligs! I've only ever seen people getting clear at my ortho, so I'm not even sure if he has colors.
