annashefia wrote:rhibee83 wow 5 teeth?! thats crazy! have you had a few orthodontists tell you this? i would get a few more opinions before taking that many teeth out, and especially for the self ligating brackets they are designed so that you need very little if any extractions. just my 2 sense.
and thank you so much!! im sooo excited!! im wondering if i should get a full mouth whitening before i start treatment, because only the front teeth are whitened...hmmm maybe.
and yes im soo glad my office is doing payments! And interest free too, which is just amazing. It would be worth it even if i got a lower quote elsewhere. Im so comfortable with my ortho already and the office is so up to date and high tech.
I wonder if self ligating braces will be more expensive for you? my office said they weren't, only if you were to get the tooth colored ones. Hopefully they arent!!!
I have only been to one, BUT my teeth are crowed and I have two baby teeth still and they are decaying and have to come out, there fore the ones on the other side have to come out too to make them even. I am no good with technical names but they are the 5th tooth along, top bottom left and right. so that is 4. the 5th is a wisdom tooth that has come through on the top left side. I have a wisdom tooth impacted on the top right but that one is staying in as it is near my sinus and the dentist said if a surgeon was to remove it there could be a high risk of my sinus being damaged as well. so I am choosing to leave it and he said once my teeth move who knows it could come threw and be removed properly.... so that is 5 teeth... I have read alot of people have had 4 teeth out and seems to be the same ones that i am having out, so i hope this is the right choice.
i have no idea what sort of braces I am getting it is really confusing at the moment and i keep forgetting what the orthodontist is saying to me cos i try to take in so much information. When i see him on tuesday i have some questions written down and i am going to write what he says next to them so i can remember. I just want a plan in place and i hope tuesday i will FINALLY understand what is going on! lol.
welcome not long till they go on now i have a 2yr sentence too and honestly its gone so fast and mine's costing me around the same price with a interest free payment plan through the ortho too (thankgod for that!) as otherwise I would not have been able to do it either! have a fun holiday! i didnt find there is anything I cant eat with my braces!, i am just very careful and eat on my back molars maybe not toffee's but i dont like them anyway
That's great news. Looks like you dodged a couple of bullets today. Don't worry about the time to fix your bite. At that point in your treatment you will be fully used to them.

Lol that's why I like this thread, were all here for the same reasons!

2XRound yes I did dodge huge bullets! And I couldn't have been more relieved. And yea I know I'll start getting Anxious during the last few months but I know it will be worth it!

Rhibee83 I know!!! We are only going to be a few Weeks apart from each other it's going to be exciting to track our progress side-by-side!!!!!
TWO DAYS FOR YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!! so excited for you!!!! I have a month exactly till I am fully braced! a month apart is still ok, we can still track our progress pretty well
best of luck for the brace day!!! you will have to post a pic when you feel comfortable
Congrats on getting it started. I had an NHS attempt at 16 that did the usual extractions and ineffective plate, then waited 30 years to get my deep bite fixed. My bottom incisors are 30% worn and crazy-paving chipped, in hindsight should've got it sorted much sooner but thought it was OK as I'd had braces as kid and they'd done nothing so why go through it again. Only this time, hopefully, they'll actually fix the bite not just yank out a few teeth!

how long did he say you will be in the braces for?
Hi guys! so im posting my last update before braces go on tomorrow!!! I just picked up a water pik because ive heard (and can only imagine) how hard it would be to floss between the braces...lol i have a tooth brush and tooth paste i have already put in my purse so that i dont forget when im running out the house at some point. what else do you guys recommend i have on me at all times? i know i will be getting wax from the ortho, i wonder what else they are going to give me? i just cant believe this day is already here! i have been waiting over 5 years for this day and i couldnt be anymore excited! Oh and i had an amazing time in hawaii, i really didnt wanna go home! We are already planning another trip!
anyways i just wanted to post my last update. i cant wait to read up on this forum in 2-3 years and remember this night, because after tonight my life is gonna be different! 2 years of metal in my mouth and then a lifetime of confidence!
well i think thats it for now, i will post pics asap tomorrow after my appt! toodles!!!
oh and THANK you guys so much for all the support and to all the friends ive met on here!
Hi Anna, hope your appointment goes well. I'd add a small bottle of water (maybe one of the ones runners favour as they're flatter and seal well) as I found I was really thirsty for the first week or so after getting the brackets fitted; sipping water every 15 minutes made a big difference in keeping my cheeks moist so they didn't get so prickled. And chap-stick (I now have one in my desk at home, at work, in various jacket pockets where I've forgotten to pick one up and ended up buying more).
Don't be afraid to use the wax if stuff rubs. The little rectangular boxes it comes in are ideal for keeping elastics in if you need to take them out for eating away from home.
