Re: BeautifulDisaster - Story Revealed
And here's my four month update.
I finally had my first wire change!
I had my teeth cleaned yesterday, which was a 2 hour ordeal. I went to my ortho to have my wires removed, then to my dentist's to have my teeth cleaned, then back to my ortho to have my wire placed back. I also got a metal bracket bonded to one of my upper premolars because it had popped off a second time. Hopefully that keeps it from happening again.
I'm going back in 2 weeks to have a bracket placed on my lower left canine.
I love the progress so far. My ortho jokingly asked, "Weren't we about to pull four of your teeth?" My arches are developing so well that he doesn't think we'll be needing the extractions after all.

Re: BeautifulDisaster - Story Revealed
I wasn't planning on posting until my 5 month update, but getting a bracket on my lower canine seemed like enough of a milestone to merit a picture.
It looks a lot like the other lower canine did when I first got braces. I got demoted to a thinner wire in the lowers to allow for gentle movement.
I haven't been this sore since I first got braces. The canine and the surrounding teeth are giving me grief. I haven't been able to take anything for the pain because of an upcoming medical procedure. I'm sure the discomfort will taper off in the next couple of days.
My next appointment is in 6 weeks. I think they will keep me on the same wires. Our focus right now is to keep widening the arches while gently rotating teeth into place.

I appreciate all the responses!
Luckly, the soreness only lasted about 48 hours.
I am now 5 months into braces. I'm glad my lower left canine has found some space to squeeze in. My lowers have definitely come a long way!
I just had a filling on my root canal molar. Once my braces come off, my dentist wants to insert a post on the root and add a crown. My wallet is already cringing, but luckily I still have some time before I get to that point.
I am scheduled for my next cleaning in June. I will have bitewing xrays to check for cavities.
I'm looking forward to next month's update. I plan to compare my 6 month pictures to Day 1. Even though the progress is evident, I'm excited to see how far I've come.

I've made it to 6 months!!!
The pictures pretty much speak for themselves. My teeth have come a long way!
I had a short appointment today to change my ligs. I also got a metal tie on my upper lateral incisor to help move it in line, which should also help the neighboring canine rotate into place. I'm hoping to see some noticeable movement between those two teeth in the next update.
My next appointment is in 6 weeks. My lower 2nd molars will finally join the bracket club. My molar bite turbos will be removed. I believe I will also get new wires.
Overall, I'm very happy with my experience in braces so far!!! I couldn't have picked out a better orthodontist. I am very grateful he decided to take the chance of going with a non-extraction treatment. My smile has really been filling out, and i couldn't be happier!

Wow! Your teeth look really great! An amazing transformation in just 6 months! Braces really are worth all the trouble and expense
Re: BeautifulDisaster - Story Revealed
Hey BeautifulDisaster! I can't see your pictures yet (new member), but it sounds like things are going really well for you. Congrats I also have severe crowding and am due to have 4 extractions. I was just wondering how crowded your teeth were and how are they expanding to make space? I really want to avoid extractions, but I have receding gums so I'm not sure if that will be possible
Re: BeautifulDisaster - Story Revealed
I envy your progress!
