Thank you!! My mouth is pretty happy with how it looks, but this lovely new purple powerchain is really doing its job today. I have 2 teeth screaming at me today, and I'm telling them to shut up and leave me alone.

I love that lig colour!

You've inspired me! I may try a colour when I get a little more comfortable with my ceramic braces :)

Cathy, your new purple ligs look awesome! :D I knew you've been psyching yourself for up a while to get some color. Nice choice... Congrats!! Doesn't it just add to the fun? I remember at first, how hesitant I was about getting anything but boring silver ligs, but looking forward to a new color every adjustment is cool and actually helps pass the time! 8)

Keep up the good work... :)

Thanks, Mike and nightowl! Yep, I'm having a blast with them! And everyone here's right - not ONE person has said a word about them. One girl said, "Oh, they put your wire back in!" I told her I've always had a wire, but I guess the new one is a bit thicker and more visible. I'm pretty sure it's a leveling wire, because all of a sudden, my teeth are higher than they were before. Overjet is about half its original size (about 3mm now; looks more like an overbite now!) But not ONE person even noticed the purple ligs. Which makes me think... "Hmmm... which color next time?" Methinks it'll be Screaming Pink, which is the color blouse I'm wearing today. My coworker just said at lunch "We should all wear pink one day this month to commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness". Well, my next adjustment is on 10/26... hehe...

I'm putting the staining issue to the test today. Teeth are sore (not to mention a canker sore I got on the back of my tongue from it suddenly wanting to scrape against my molar band), so I ate chicken noodle "full of turmeric" soup for lunch. So far... purple is still purple... :knock wood:

Alas, my middle gap has gone bye-bye for the time being. :( However, the canine that's being yanked back has formed yet another nice-sized gap next to the lateral incisor, showing me that the powerchain/wire combo is definitely doing its job. Yay! :D

Hey Cathy!
Great progress! The overjet is clearly reduced and your arch is rounding out nicely!

I think the pastel purple ligs are lovely and feminine on you!

Thanks, msbee! So far, so good... No staining, even through turmeric-laden ramen AND pizza! They're not really pastel; they just photograph that way. But the darker purple is really nice, too. Very glad I got over my trepidation and just went for it. :D

Hey Cathy! I think you have finally convinced me to get a colored powerchain at my adjustment today. I have ceramic brackets, and have a clear power chain on the bottom...just on the left side to move 2 teeth over. It looks yucky yellow! I think I would prefer to look down there and see a little purple, rather than yellow yeck that looks like bread is constantly stuck in my teeth!
Thank you!!!!

LC'sTeefs-

I'm glad to have been of assistance! I have learned SO much from this great website and the people here are really helping to make this journey so much more bearable. You all are the ones who gave me the courage to go for it. :D

It's amazing how much LESS conspicuous the purple chain is than the "clear turned chartreuse yellow" one I had. And if yours is off to the side, it's not very noticeable to begin with. I, too, have mistaken the yellow color for food and spend god-knows-how-long digging around to get the food out... the food that isn't there in the first place.

Good luck today, and let me know what you get!

I got purple! It's a darker shade than yours, but I like it a lot! It's not visible to anyone but me, but it's a start. No more yellow for me, girlie!!

WOO HOO!!! My purple is actually pretty dark - the first couple of pics I posted (front and side view) made them look pastel, but I posted another one taken with my cell phone and that one shows the true darker shade (as well as my not-so-white teeth, so you all know I wasn't lyin'! haha)

Love it, love it!! I'm def. getting hot pink next time, in 3 more weeks!

My ortho assistant told me she actually has had ONE person actually request YELLOW ligs. She said she told them, "Uh... ooooo-kay..." She also said it was a young person, and didn't mention if it was a one-time only thing. I say - that person must've had incredibly white teeth to begin with.

Thank you so, so much, ashesgap! I am now going to go through and read this girl's story. She had beautiful teeth to begin with, so I can't wait to see how the story ends. You, my friend, are truly a lifesaver. :D

Holy mother of God... Those are some BRIGHT ligs!!! I think they make my Plum Crazy look like Clear. I like the way they fade to a still-pretty pink shade. I am SO TOTALLY getting those next week! I can't wait now!!

I had purple power chains at one time. Loved them. It sorta said, "Yes I have braces. I'm not ashamed of them. I'm glad I'm able to do something to make my teeth better."

Never did pink. Didn't know how they'd look on this post fifty year old.
I wore braces (this time) for 1294 days or 3 years, 6 months and 17 days.
But who's counting?
