I think that when you finally get your braces off you will be VERY happy with both the result and your initial decision. All that needling that you had to put up with from your family will very quickly fade into the distance. I'm happy for you!

Hi Angel. Hope you don't mind me saying, but I've really enjoyed having a read through your story and seeing the extent if our progress because I have a similar sized gap between my two front teeth to you so seeing how fantastic your teeth look in such a short space of time has really motivated me. I hope I see progress as quickly as you and that my teeth look as good as yours do in 6 months time!

Hi Louise

Thank you for your very kind message.

I cannot wait to get these things off, more to do with food inconveniences than any pain. I have my next adjustment on Friday and all being well they should come off February, as I'm waiting for one gap to close in front of my right canine.

Currently have some lovely snow going on :-( Have had a call this morning to say the practice is still open so I will be leaving shortly and hoping *touch wood* this will be last appointment for an adjustment.

Just got back. Not happy and need to rant.

The right canine has moved more but not by very much. When I asked how much longer he said a good couple of months. He said I could have them removed and more composite put in that area if I wish but if I can wait much more to close it I will.

I am pretty sure that if he had noticed that right canine catching on the lower tooth before last month it would probably have closed like the left has by now.

I have also previously had an archwire changed when it has peeled before at no charge and today he said the ligs cost pennies but if the archwire peels you would just have to come in for another chargeable appointment.

I do not have an appointment booked at the moment as he said possibly leave it up to 8 weeks (archwire will look great by then!) and if I am happy after then we can debond if not he will renew power chain again.

Just feeling really cheesed off, as I was hoping to have a curry out with hubby for his birthday next month with naked teeth (no get of staining or the dreaded stuck food)

Rant over :-+ and will post pics as per routine soon.

Hi Angel,
Well, I certainly don't blame you for being frustrated. But your teeth look terrific and what's a few more weeks? You've been through all this so far with very little complaint. Just hang in there. It'll all be over soon.
I think I'd be disappointed, too but the process takes as long as it takes, right?

Hi Angel,

I agree with Dee- your teeth look terrific and have reached that state in double quick time. I know what it is like to go over estimate, even when the estimate is short, but it is not the end of the world; you and I will still be finished far quicker than most people on this board.

That curry will be even nicer after a few more weeks and I am sure you will still manage to enjoy your husband's birthday in the meantime.

All the best

Thanks for the lovely comments.

I'm just itching now to get them off and miffed that just one pesky tooth is playing games. I want to smile and have photos especially when they are contoured once these things come off. I would just want to put a photo of me smiling on F.book and surprise all my friends on there, as barely anyone knows I have done this. My niece has her wedding beginning of April-they will be off for that!

Totally understandable and I don't blame you. I think you'll just have to be a little bit patient. I know if I were in your shoes I'd be really anxious, too. Hang in there!

Have been away so only just got to the forum.

I have found that since my adjustment Friday one tooth on my left (sadly not my right) had a really crazy itchy feeling. I wish I had had the same feeling on the right, then I'd know that the awkward canine was moving.

Really hoping that the right canine does move as its getting a bit silly compared to how the left looks.

Your teeth are blimmin fabulous! Try not to get disheartened, you've done so so well. Just focus on that wedding and look forward to seeing the pictures afterwards. Not long to go.....!

Thank you for you very kind comments.

Something made me smile today. I went into a chemists today (large UK chain) looking for a new tube of their own brand orthodontic toothpaste. I looked around a couldn't see any, despite buying some from that store before. I went and asked the assistant if they had any and she came out to the shelves and had a look and couldn't see any. She then said I can order some if you like and I said I will try another local larger branch of the store. The assistant said is it needed quite urgently and I said yes I have run out. I said that it didn't need ordering as I would probably only need one more tube as they wouldn't be on much longer. The assistant looked a tad puzzled and I kinda pointed out my brace and she said I genuinely hadn't noticed and thought you were getting the toothpaste for somebody else :)

Sounds silly but just cheered me up, especially when people genuinely haven't noticed.

P.s-Will be going to source a new tube tomorrow, didn't get round to it today.

Hi Angel

Nice compliment from the Boots staff, although unsurprising having seen your pics

My local branch of Boots also stopped stocking the orthodontic toothpaste and other orthodontic stuff. I suspect they didn't sell much. So I had to go to the bigger branch in town last week. I bought 2 tubes which perhaps shows I am less optimistic than you about getting debraced. One of the boxes was quite dusty which suggested it had been sitting around in Boots somewhere for a while. I was appalled to note that Boots charge £3.05 for the little boxes of wax that my ortho sells for £1. Fortunately I have not had to use much wax and still have a fair amount left in the 3 boxes I originally bought and keep in various locations for if needed.

All the best,

Jem
