Hi Jem

The toothpaste is £3.05 too. They had the wax though in the town store that I tried. I just got the one box when I went into a larger branch on Sunday but I really think it helped in the early days alleviating the rubbing that I experienced from the brackets. I don't bother with their Expert mouthwash, just an alcohol free one does the rick for me. I once tried the mouthwash you shake, green one and noticed that bits of bright green where stuck to some of ligs towards the back so never used that again!

I think I am paranoid about the decalcification too, as I think my hubby suffered with a small amount of that after fixed metal as a teen. I am hoping that this toothpaste I use just isn't a selling technique but am hoping that it will help to prevent decalcification spots.

Congratulations on getting so close to debanding! You got your braces around the same time as me but I have about a year to go probably! Your teeth look amazing though, really pretty! Fingered crossed for you that you get the movement you want soon.

I have made a firm decision. If that right canine hasn't moved in the next month I will be being debonded. I have been told that what I have wanted to achieve has happened (diastema closed) and as progress is the way it is I can be debonded at any time.

I always knew that I would need some composite anyway. I have figured if it hasn't moved by then after all this time it is unlikely too so what's the point hanging on waiting for something that isn't going to happen. I don't see it as a case of giving up or being impatient but more of case of being realistic over a situation.

Am just annoyed as I have seen nothing on the right for over 2 months with a strong powerchain on. I don't think it will go and may well find out about my debond soon.

I am hoping I won't regret it as I wanted them off before end of March anyway and will have bonding but am just disappointed at this right canine for not moving.

Hi Angel,

I know from my own experience how frustrating it can be to see no apparent progress, especially when you are starting to go over your estimated treatment time. I am not a very patient person but the braces experience is teaching me that sometimes you just have to be patient to get what you want. I am well over my estimated time but am finally starting to see some progress with my wonky left lateral. I will probably have taken double my estimate before I am finished, but it will still have been worth it.

You and I are lucky in only having short treatment times compared with most people on this board; for people with 24 month estimates, it seems as if most of the visible progress takes place in the first 12 months and they spend the second 12 months only having more subtle changes to correct their bite .

Your teeth look fantastic in your last photos and I think you have had the best improvement in a short time of pretty much anyone on this board. You could have your brace removed now and be very pleased with your result. But you may end up having slight regrets that you did not quite get that canine to where you wanted it. I think canines have longer roots than incisors and perhaps take a bit more shifting.

I know that you have targeted this wedding as a date by which you want your brace removed, but would it really be a problem to still have your brace on at this wedding? Your brace is virtually invisible and as you have said several times, people just do not notice it.You have grown visibly more confident over these last few months and I am sure you will enjoy the wedding just as much whether you still have your brace or not .

If it were my decision ( and I know it is not ) I would hang on to the brace for a bit longer until I was satisfied that the outcome was as good as it could be.

Best of luck whatever you decide and please keep in touch.

I have just looked at your last pics again and your teeth look fantastic. You have had marvellous improvement and I think you could be very happy with your outcome if you got debraced now. I look forward to seeing your pics.

Hi Jem

Thanks for that. I always knew I would need some composite bonding anyway and I am just so glad that my teeth are upright and the diastema has gone.

Angel!

Just realised it was February and the big month so thought I would come in and look for an update. Your teeth are looking great my lovely. I know the composite bonding is tempting, but it really is a pain in the backside and tends to fly off if you chew a hard sweet. (I had lots before, as a form of masking work, bit a polo and watched as my 'tooth' flew into the windscreen in front!). Isn't your nieces wedding in April? Why don't you set an appointment for the week before the wedding-if it hasn't closed by then, get the composite, if it has... Great.

Keep going, your teeth look fab. Xxx

Hi TingrinTeacher

Thanks for the message. At the moment I am just keeping all of my options open but it doesn't look like after this time that is going to close so it may be the best it can be.

Will keep you all posted though.

Your teeth look great.

As I said before, I also have a mid-line diastema. I am getting braced on Feb 21st. I cant decided between the ceramics and the metals. Any suggestions? I go in for spacer tomorrow...

Congrats on being close to your debanding date, and again your teeth look great!

Ceramics I would pick everytime. I also have a tooth coloured archwire and I love how people have genuinely not noticed, so it will be a massive surprise for those who don't know I am doing this.

I think it varies, some retain their coating better than others too.

I now have a date (not that kind, I'm married!)

That right canine still hasn't moved after this time so i am now at that crossroad where i am going with a small amount of composite like i was going to need anyway.

So, i am being debonded in 2 weeks, 4th March at 11·15 (GMT)
