Wow Bip! Sounds like an awful time!! Can you get to the pharmacy for more wax? Also, I have found Rincinol good for ulcer pain and healing. Orabase is good too...

This must mean the teeth are really moving!! But I would call the ortho just to see what they suggest--won't hurt to call...

Get better!!!

OK, yesterday's appointment was so so weird, took an hour. OK, so first, the ortho took off some wire ties (I think 6) on my lower teeth, then put these metal lacing stuff over it, then put a powerchain over those 6 teeth only. That was all fine, but after that, I think he was deciding whether or not he should do anything to my top row. After much contemplation, which involved getting out a ruler (those random bendy ones) and measuring all my past archwires and the one I had on, he decided he would replace one of my brackets. Ouch, did that hurt. Tie wires went on on again. Strangely, at this point, he put a powerchain over two of my two top teeth only. mhm, I haven't figured that one out yet. Powerchains are so much harder to clean out, food gets stuck in there so so easily.

5 hours later after the appointment, looked in the mirror, got a huge shock! My two front teeth which were gappy, closed 2 months ago had gotten a gap in between. 5 hours, ONLY. I am utterly amazed at my teeth. and the place where he placed power chain over on my top teeth, the gap closed miraculously. Wow, wow, I am not sure this is supposed to happen....mhm...I am tempted to call......no, I will not, be such an annoyance.

My next ortho appointment is in two weeks time because I am taking a 2 month holiday, won't be in the country, so he wants to see me beforehand. Move teeth MOVE!!! :)

Hey Bip--It's been a while!

So these are good changes, right? Sounds like it...I have read many stories about things changing like even when people were on the way home. At my adjustment last week, I had no bite when I was walking out of the office!!! I have always had a bite, so this is really, really weird.

Other than that, how are the teeth feeling? My adjustment last week was the very worst so far....do you have the stainless steel wires yet? It has taken about a week for my teeth to settle down, but it's pretty ok now.

I'm anxious to see what changes this no bite thing brings about! :Questions:

Hey, have a great trip next week! We have a 4 day weekend with the Thanksgiving holiday coming up next week---yipppeeee!!!!

Hey klobird! I got the stainless steel ones on 2 months ago...guess I am slightly slack at updating :P oops. haha It is sooo weird, my top teeth hurt and my bottom ones don't. So basically, my bite is pretty much non-existent at the moment. aww that is no good, hope your teeth have settled down. Mine sure haven't, seriously, I swear, with some extra pressure, I will be able to pull my teeth right out. Wow, nearly 7 months, doesn't time go by fast! How are your teeth now?? Everything calming down????

Ya, Bip--it's all good--but no bite at all yet-if the ortho told me to bite down right now, I would just have to open my mouth and slam it down and wherever it lands would be my bite I guess...

My teeth don't hurt at all now. I'm back to eating all the no-no's. You know, you have had a heck of a lot more junk on your teeth than me. I'm going to get some pics up, and there's a ton of work yet to be done to get my teeth in shape.
So, maybe I'm going to get all that stuff coming up...I haven't even had a power chain yet. So, if I get one next time, it will have been almost 9 months before getting it. And I've only had one tie wire on the 2 front teeth. That's it.

It's just better for me not to know what's next...I've freaked out about the Forsus for 6 months, and don't even have to have it now...

Do you mean your teeth are loose? I've heard of that, but mine have never even been close to loose...

Hope your soreness doesn't last long!!

Hey klobird, good to hear from you. Oh the other day, at the ortho's, I was waiting to be called in, I picked up a 'braces self care' pamphlet. Seriously, I eat EVERYTHING that should not be eaten :P Oh well, hasn't caused any problems...yet. My teeth, actually 1 tooth is sooo loose that whenever I bite down, it makes a clicky sound, then makes me freak out thinking one of my bracket has come off. hehe, no more soreness, it lasted only about 2 days. I shall upload a photo soon, of my awkward powerchains - which do not go the whole way. I will be in elastics much longer than you though, I am a Class III malocclusion. Anyways, enjoy the food on the no-no list! :P photos up soon..I hope! :)

It is been forever since I posted, didn't even realise I was past the 8 months' mark. OK, some updates. Well, not much. I am on holiday currently, so no ortho for 2 months and so paranoia has overtaken my life. Every time I eat something, I always have to check that nothing has fallen off. My poor tongue has suffered as a result, it has been forever searching around the mouth for loose brackets...mhm I am pretty sure this isn't good for either my braces and my tongue...

My midline is slowly slowly shifting to the right, though extremely slow. My bite has now leveled and now I see what my ortho mean of me being a Class III malocclusion - not too serious though.

Anyways, lets hope I get these babies off at the end of this year. Wow, it is 2012 already. :)

Update update time. I have been quite slack lately. Last Thursday had an adjustment. HELL did it hurt. No wire changes, but lacing for the front 6 teeth for both the upper and the lower. Ouch...The pressure was sooo bad. OK, then there were single powerchains. 2 on the bottom, 1 on the top. Ortho couldn't get it on because the space between the teeth were large. He had to pull and pull and pull, I felt like my teeth were going to be pulled out as the powerchain extended. Phewf I survived the first two. The last one was the hardest to put on, ortho had to stretch it to such an extent that it slipped and scratched my gum..oww

The pressure however was worth it, the next day, I noticed gaps closing up already!!! So excited, I must say that was the highlight of my day in pain. Once these gaps are closed, new archwire time!!!! I hope I am going along as scheduled, so I can get these torture babies off when I hit my proposed mark!!!

Wow, haven't posted in such a long time.

Some updates:

Yesterday, I got two spring coil things on each side of my lower arch to stablise the teeth - whatever that means. Afterwards, I attempted to eat dumplings, BIG mistake. All the filling got caught in the spring and it took forever trying to rinse it out! Then I heard a cracking sound, thankfully, it wasn't the springs popping out from the brackets *cross fingers and hope that they will stay in till my next appointment.*

I also got new molar bands on the 7's of my upper teeth in my last adjustment. Ouch they were painful, I went through box and box of wax. Thankfully though, this has stopped rubbing on my cheeks and after 4 weeks, my posterior crossbite has improved tremendously. According to my ortho, another 4 more weeks will do.

It has been nearly a full 12 months since I first got my braces! Hopefully, I would be able to get it off sooner than the 24 months mark!! :)
