Re: Angel269's Story

I had a moment today that I just had to share.

When I was initially seeking ortho treatment I was going to go with Clearstep (UK based aligner company) at my local dental practice (that I go to for my routine dental treatment). The person who dealt with Clearstep cases at the practice was the owner, a guy that I just did not like his attitude nor the way the practice had messed me around since making my enquiry and even after the impressions and records were taken.

When the treatment plan came back it was higher than quoted with a timeframe of 16 months. I had been informed 8 months roughly with the fixed system (which I currently have) and basically told the guy that I would not be commencing with treatment due to increase in price and timeframe etc. I told him that I would be going with clear fixed and he was saying make sure you know what you are doing and you will still be able to see them blah blah blah.

Fast Forward about 9-10 months now e.g today. I was walking down the street and there were roadworks and traffic was slowing down I saw a car slowing for traffic which I knew belonged to the dental practice owner e.g Mr Clearstep guy from the practice I go to and he looked at me as he slowed down and I was just trying not to laugh to be honest, I'm sure he knew it was me. I was so close to giving him a big grin as if to say "hey look at my teeth, they are looking great and are nearly done with fixed treatment" but I couldn't do it. I think if they had come off at the beginning of the week like they were meant to have done I would have given him a huge grin.

I would have been probably realistically less than half way through treatment and with no hope of finishing treatment with these aligners, especially given that I have read that Clearstep went into administration within the last couple of days.

Can't wait for them to come off now. I am feeling very low, as yesterday my Grandma sadly passed away so I am struggling to come to terms with it despite being in residential care for 6 years-she was often unwell but bounced back so I was just unaware that she was unwell at the time.

Funeral will be within the next couple of weeks and I will be seeing people I haven't seen in years or possibly met before. I will feel much better once my teeth are "free" and not having anything going on that may draw attention when meeting lots of people so Thursday just can't come soon enough. On the upside I have booked a hair appointment on the day of my debracing (Thursday 14 March) and will be having a nice cut and redoing my colour, a touch of pampering to my day too :-)

Oh Angel, I'm so sorry to hear of your grandmother's passing. Please don't stress over seeing family with your braces on. I can't imagine they would be anything but supportive considering the occasion. I can't believe your day is just around the bend, you lucky thing!

Thanks guys :-)

With just a few days to go, I will be glad for it to finally be over and less stress about my teeth. Will find it easier knowing that I will look better when I see people in the next couple of weeks.

Just need to focus on Thursday at mo, as a distraction from our difficult news on Friday and celebrate my sister's 24th Birthday that day, as well as having "free" teeth :-)

It was a very long winded process.

A few brackets just slightly crunched off but a couple felt like my teeth were being pulled off!

Alot of polishing, levelling and scraping went on. Must have been sat in the chair for about an hour!

John said he couldn't believe how different my face looked since treatment has finished and I will also be having my mouth shots (not full face) being used in their before and after ortho treatment.

I go back next week for my Essix retainer-I currently have my bonded in place, which I am finding odd with my bottom teeth touching.

I also plan to have a photo of me on Facebook smiling, as there aren't any of me on there smiling or really any to be honest.

Looking at your photo again, that is a really glamorous smile. No wonder your ortho wants to use it!

Jem

That was one I took on my phone :-)

He took one yesterday and I looked at his before photo and had to look away, I was cringing so much at what they looked like. I can't believe how different it has made me look.

Have put my photo on Facebook and a friend put what a lovely smile. My Dad hasn't seen my photo on Facebook yet-he doesn't even know I've done this. I reckon he'll call me and ask questions tonight (he lives in France).
