Congrats on a DeBraced date-- Good on ya for surviving thru this.
I was braced in April 09, and found out last week, I'll be debraced in August as well- but then need to work around implants to replace missing teeth from a childhood accident
I've enjoyed reading your story line, and really appreciated the tongue twisters-- to practice every day, particulary after each adjustment.

Another great day today: ortho called to schedule my impressions appt for NEXT Monday..whoo frikken whoo!!! That ensures that I'll have my hawley retainers at the debanding appt, still scheduled for 8/20. I see my dentist this Saturday, for a quick look-see/sign-off visit and I don't expect anything major, other than for him to check the back of the lower incisor where I had a root canal done..it might need some additional fill/bonding before I get impressions made two days later. Now I am wondering, if the hawleys come in EARLY...if I'll get a call to get debanded EARLY as well??? I have to remember to ask if that is a possibility.

Checked in with my dentist today and it's still a 'go' for debanding!!! He will speak to my ortho on Monday before the impressions for retainers are made, to confirm what all needs to be addressed after the braces are off <a bit of bonding on the back of the root canal tooth, some general cosmetic reshaping, etc> that won't effect retainer wear...but basically I sat down, bit down, opened up, bit down, smiled big and was outta there zipadeedoodah quick!
Now, to decide what colour acrylic on both hawleys <if the lab my ortho uses HAS colours>...more reasons to lie awake Sunday night in anticipation!!

Impressions done with ligs and wires off went fine...messy but got to brush before everything was replaced..pure heaven!!! Went with NEON rainbow ligs on both arches this time...told the lip balm story to the tech and doc...much laughter! Chose transparent purple with blue sparkles for both hawleys...should turn out kinda cool. Debanding is set for early on the 20th of August, after which I will search out corn on the cob, peanut brittle, a frozen Snickers bar, and a candy apple.

Forgot to mention that after the impressions were taken, the doc replaced my lower archwire <which hadn't been touched in many many months>, she twisted one end to prevent poking as always...might be my imagination but things do feel a bit more snug now.

Yup, bottom arch is definitely tighter and sore today. You'd think so close to debanding, it would be pain-free..but noooo! Heck, I don't mind so much as the countdown has officially begun. Ordered retainer supplies today...one step closer!!
