Laurie- I just got reading your whole thread and it was really informative! Its great to be able to read other people's experiences so I know what to expect on Thursday!

The positive attitude you've kept/tried to keep throughout this is really inspiring to me - I hope I can be as chipper as you seem, despite the discomfort!

Good luck with everything, and I will definately keep tabs on your thread to see your progress! :-*

KK I really think I did the right thing by taking them too. I had a classmate die when I was young and I needed too see him laying in that casket to know it was real.

kirjax I keep telling myself that when this is over I'll be the proud owner of an awesome smile. Today my motivation is having a family photo taken right after they go off. It will be the first picture of me, my husband, and my kids where you can see my teeth. Now I just have lose some weight before then! Image

mindykatz I'm glad you like my journal! I really try to stay positive. After all, I'm the one who decided to do this to myself and I really hope I'm not into self torture..... although I'm starting to wonder!

I feel you with the headaches! I've been having some issues with my bite as well. Actually I had headaches before they went on, which is why I wanted them so bad, but the changed bite with the molar bonding is hurting me as well. I'm still just wanting to tear them out, even though my cheeks are also starting to heal. We can both try really hard to stay positive!! :?

Oh - and the Redneck Invisalign made me laugh so hard!

alliphd I've gotten just past the wanting to rip them off phase but I'm sure I'll get right back into that phase before long! LOL! I expect I'll go back and forth between the two feelings quite often.

Meryaten I did try to do something. I went to the el cheapo Dollar Tree Store with my mom last night! LOL! Is that hick or what? Image We just kind of went up and down the isles perusing all the differnt things. It was nice to get out of the house and be without the kids for a bit.

Linda I do think that's part of the reason I'm hurting. Because it's not just my teeth and my head.. it's all over. My husband raised and eyebrow last night and asked me "What are we stressing over?" because at 10:oopm last night I was making dinners for his mom who is sick and mopping the floors. I always clean or cook or do both when I'm stressed. My kids have been super clingy which I understand but it's hard when they get that way and stay that way.

I'm down to wax only on one cleat so I think I'm doing good. I've got my mouth cleaning routine down pat and I think I'm doing a good job at it to boot. So things are looking up. I just can't wait to get past these headaches. Image

Laurie you do look very nice with those camouflage colours. I thought about getting some nice colours too, but I have damon braces and they seem to not have these things. So .. there goes my creativity :?

I can understand how you feel since I also experienced a lot of grief lately too. I do keep a positive attitude, but the last month was for me a pain. Had extractions, couldn't eat, headaches and many many appointments with my dentist/ortho. I had some very bad first days in braces, but I am feeling better now. And most important I HAVE MY GOAL in front of my eyes. A perfect smile and a healthy bite.

Today a friend of mine teased me a bit but I didn't care. Weird since I don't like this. But I looked at her (she would also need orthodontic treatment badly) and felt bad for her. I am on my way to solve a very important issue in my life, while she's just making fun and doesn't do anything about hers.

Another friend of mine is already thinking seriously to get braced too. I told her that it would be a good idea and we could "share" the pleasure together. The fact I don't regret it and passed quite easily on some bad days with tooth pain after the b-day made her realize that it;s not such a stupid idea. few days ago, while I couldn't close my mouth for the huge pain I would get from touching upper and bottom teeth, I also told her that yes, I cannot eat anything harder, I cannot chew from the pain, I have to spend many minutes for my oral hygene, but YES I would do this 1000 times again. I don't regret getting braces, I regret not doing this earlier in my life.

I would just like to tell you to keep a positive attitude. As some already told me: you can take some pain meds when the headaches are too strong and don't forget rest is also important. And always think about the result.

I read a lot of stories here and saw many before/after pics. I KNOW that I'll look good after all the stuff is done. many of the people I know have no idea how efficient such a treatment can be. but I have seen many things and know it works.

Keep on telling yourself this and try picture your new smile. You'll get to it :)

Three weeks....

I know it hasn't been long since I had these little darlings adhered to my teeth but since I haven't much to say I figured I'd just post some photos as an update.

I also know that not much has changed. Some movement I'll grant but nothing earth shattering by any means. None-the-less I'm still happy about what has changed.

I can see the movement, you must be so happy.

Love the lig colours as well, very colourful and me being an army wife think that it is a great compliment to those that serve their country.

Hi Laurie.

Just checked out your camo colored ligatures. As an army guy it might be a thing for me too but I think I would go for a darker green instead.

Never thought of that combination before. Keep hanging in and good luck with your treatment. It will look fantastic in the end.

Thanks KK, I've noticed most of my movement is on the left side. I'm not sure why but it is.

Linda, I know those laterals are moving but it's hard to tell what they are doing. I think you're right though... they are coming down.

Lil Sunshine and {b]WiredSkull[/b], the camo has been interesting to wear. My husband works in Military Surplus and made sure everyone at his shop saw my lig colors. The brighter green was my mom's idea to kind of give it a bit of flash but I agree that a darker green probably would of fit in better.

Hi, Laurie! I missed the welcome wagon :D, but I still wanted to wish you a warm welcome!
Well, it's done. The uppers at least. I thought I was getting both but I'm not able to have my lowers until my front two teeth move outward some or I'll wind up biting off my lower brackets.
Congratulations on getting braced! :-V
My lower arch is lagging behind for the same reasons. There was too much danger of sheering them off with the uppers.
And what colors did I pick? Well CAMOUFLAGE of course! I call it my Redneck Invisilign.
ROFLOL!!!! TOO FUNNY!!!

Now I just have lose some weight before then! Image
Ok, you're a riot! :-*
Good luck in the weight loss department. There are some great **free** calorie counting websites on the internet that may aid you in keeping track of your caloric intake and fitness.
I really try to stay positive. After all, I'm the one who decided to do this to myself and I really hope I'm not into self torture..... although I'm starting to wonder!
:jokerlaugh:
It really does get better. The veterans on this site try to reassure newbies that all will be well, but it's hard to believe it when your mouth aches. :soremouth:
But, ya know, they're right!
I finally had an adjustment that did not hurt and I was AMAZED!!!
So, hang in there, you're doing great!

Thanks for the responses LithpingLitha and Rage.

LithpingLitha.. Isn't it frustrating waiting for those uppers to get moving so you can get your lowers started? Ugh! People keep asking me if I'm going to get the bottom teeth fixed as well. I always do a mental head slap/eye roll when I get asked that. Uhmm yeah... I am. Why would I only fix half my teeth? Although that attitude is quite snarky of me.

Rage.. The headaches have gone away for now but I know they'll be back. Definitely not looking forward to that. Although it's given me a new appreciation for those who have TMJ to deal with on a daily basis.

Well Monday I have an appointment for an adjustment. Maybe I'll get the lower braces on and maybe I won't. I guess it's just wait and see right now. I'll be sure to take some photos and get those up after my adjustment. I've got a wedding to go to this month so I'll be going with plain gray ligs.

Plain gray ligs for a festive wedding? I think I could see some movement in the photos. I think you will see quite a bit of movement the next couple of adjustments. Mine moved quickly and then seemed to stop and fight the progress.

I enjoy reading your posts, keep them coming.

Hi Laurie!

Best of luck with your adjustment tomorrow -- hope all goes well for you. I just got finished reading your entire journal -- it's great and you're a hoot! I'm trying to catch up on all of the journals, which are well worth reading!

It will be interesting to see whether you get your lowers braced tomorrow. I have a deep bite, but I was told during the taking of my impressions on June 19 that I'd be fitted with both uppers and lowers -- I think somehow they "build you up" or something so that you don't bite off the lowers. I've been wondering about that quite a bit and it makes me a little nervous about how I'm going to chew stuff. Then again, it's not unusual apparently!

Keep up that great attitude! Your teeth look great anyway -- cuspids are really the only teeth really out of whack and they seem to be coming into line nicely already :!:
