Well I am back from my trip, and I would just like to say that the bathrooms of rest stops and gas stations are NASTY. In fact some of them were so gross I would wait to brush my teeth after eating. I never thought I would miss my waterpik so much!! The other thing I found while on my trip, it is very hard to avoid all the foods you're supposed.
I tried sugarless gum, and while it was yummy it was way too much work. I found gummy worms and chewy life savers were easier to deal with than gummy bears and stringy licorice. I also found that there is no way to avoid soda when taking an 18 hour drive. Needless to say my teeth felt very gross by the end of the day.
All in all though it wasn't that bad, just a bit odd to not have all my comforts of home.

One last thing before I go, in the 5 or 6 weeks I have had these things on I have become so accustomed to them that I have mastered moving food out of my teeth with my tongue so much that my husband stares at me amazed. In fact his last comment was i can't wait to see what new tricks your tongue has learned

Your husband is very cheeky! Hehehe - but aren't all men?

I'm getting used to the moving food around with tongue thing too. Getting food out of buccal tubes and molar bands is quite a challenge is it not? Your tongue sure gets a workout slobbering around your way-back molars!

yes he is very cheeky indeed but it's ok.

Yeah the molar and tubes are the hard ones but it's ok if I would eat better than I probably wouldn't hav to worry so much but I figure why starve myself.

I'm glad you had a great time on your trip! Yes, your DH is very cheeky...heehee. I too have mastered getting food unstuck with my tongue. But sometimes, my tongue gets cut on those terrible wires...OUCH!

Well I am now on month 2 of my braces and I really haven't been on much because I broke my foot and have been kinda imobile and not to mention I've had the great fun of making over a bedroom. So while I was away, the bottom haven't moved so much, but the top have had great progress!!! I am hoping when I go for my adjustment on Wednesday they can start pulling my incisor and canine into their spots. Anyway here are some pictures I hope this works for all of you.

Wow I can see a few changes! Has your midline shifted? And your bottom arch seems to have rounded out a bit too.

That spring on your teeth - do you know if that is to push the teeth apart or pull them together?
I ask because my ortho said he'll be putting springs on me eventually and since we almost have a similar problem I'm just wondering that my configuration may be the same.

:D

Hey Kitty, the spring is to push the incisors over and also at the same time to keep them from going back toward the left side. It doesn't hurt or anything alothough my front teeth were a sensitive for a little longer than the rest of my teeth. And my midline has shifted some which is great it's exactly what I need to happen :-)

So today was my forst adjustment and it went pretty well!. I got a new wire on the top, they hooked in the incisor next to the blocked out canine (YAY) and I now have a clear (BOO) power chain that goes across all my inciscors and canine on the right hand side and is hooked to the molar tube. I also got a tie from the premolar to the molar to help pull the canine back without pulling the premolar forward I guess. Anyway here is a picture of the new set up.

Hi Katt,

Just read through your story, your progress is looking good. I remember psoting when I was a couple of months in and feeling like this whole thing would last forever, but time has flown by! I hope it does for you too!

Thanks! I love my ortho she is great. She wasn't going to put all the new get up in but she said well I would rather get it done a little faster and I think you can handle it. So I've had some minor discomfort but I'm pretty much back to eating soft solids again.

thanks bracedagain!. I don't mind the power chain I just wish it wasn't clear because it stains so bad. But I guess I can deal with the staining so my canine can join the fun.
