Thanks Jenny and Melissa. I took a couple of pills for the pain this afternoon and was able to eat a bit.
I think that any new strange material in my mouth its a shock at the begining but , I better get used to having "strange surprises" in my mouth during the next couple of years :)

My son will be getting to ecuador at anytime now so I better check.

Thanks again!!! :D

I have not been around for a while. These last couple of months have been very crazy and lots of things had happened in my life and so.....I even forgot I had braces :)

So about 3 weeks ago I had my second adjustment and a bigger wire kind of rectangular was put on the lower teeth and a power chain on the front 6 to close the gap on my right incisor.
The top ones were left as they have been. A molar build up was also put on one of my back molars to prevent to bite down.

Now, the bite.....my bite is absolutely MENTAL...so I realized that because i have a really bad crossbite on my left posterior quadrant and the teeth are moving outwards now, my bite is moving to one side, developing a "corner" open bite which looks so weird when i smile or talk, my right crossbite is now fixed.....at this point I dont care, I just want my bite to feel normal and be able to chew properly. The assistant said that I am definitely a case of "getting worse before getting better"

Next adjustment, hopefully the crossbite on the left has been fixed or at least progressing so they can start closing the corner open bite and level it. We are also going to talk about extracting the baby molar and take xrays of the roots and who knows what else....hopefully something exciting

Ok, I guess thats all for now.....thanks for reading...its been a while.

Here are some pics.

Glad to have you back!!

I must say your arches have really rounded out! :D And, yes, I'd agree that you're in the "worse before it gets better" stage but the important thing is it does get better. I'm in that stage too when it comes to my upper incisors now overlapping(yes...STILL  ).

I find it hard to tell how my teeth truely fit together since I can't bit down all the way because of my molar build up...maybe part of the reason your bite is so off?

Your teeth have come a long way though. Your "wandering" molar is lined up plus your upper arch looks straightened out all around. As for your lowers, they're really straightening out too. The premolar that was practically laying down(left side of pic)is now upright. I'm curious though...how did you get such a large space between it and your canine? Sorry if I should know...I'll have to go back a recap your story(I have a baaaad memory! ).
Keep smilin'! :)

Thanks Jenny!

That big gap between my pre-molar and the canine is there because I am missing another pre-molar there. On the other side (left) I actually still have a baby molar that needs to be pulled out (the one right before the one with the pink molar build up). I guess one that one gets out of the way, we will try to close those gaps or have implants instead.....don't know yet how that is going to work.

Your overlapping teeth will soon move and its not so noticeable
I know how things like that can drive us nuts, i have my lower incisors still overlapping and with the power chain, it looks like its preventing them from moving......oh well.....the wonderful life with braces

I was brushing my teeth and just noticed that the bracket on the molar that I wear on of my crossbite elastics just came off and dancing on around the wire :(

Should I wait till my next adjustment which is about 10 days away or should I call to see if they can get me in sooner?

Hey, Flaka

I would call and schedule an emergency appointment ASAP. My front bracket came off too, and I went to the ortho, as it was really bothering me to have a bracket dancing around (plus it was in the front). He decided to put a ligature around that one (I have damons like you, so it is the only lig I have) so it would not move around the wire. That's one minute and would definetly improve your quality of life, so do not hesitate!

Plus if you get it rebonded, it will be perfect...I don't really know why my ortho decided to leave it loose, he said something about the bracket popping off again anyway, but I wonder how is he planning to move that tooth (I have a crown there, so that's why it pops off so easily)

Hey Jxds, thanks :) I called this morning and they don't have anything available this week so they can't get me in. Fortunetely, my next adjustment is next week on wednesday so they will get it fixed.

I am just worried because is the molar I have the attachment for my crossbite elastic and is now is trying to get back to its old position.

Lets hope it doesnt change much till next week as I can't wear the elastic till is fixed.

I've heard about brackets not sticking well to the crowns, maybe thats why he left it like that like you mentioned. I am sure he has a good plan for you :)

Flaka.....I liked your story and glad to see your progress is going good.

I'm new and will be getting Damons on 11/4. I will be having two teeth removed (my two upper eye teeth) on Friday 10/31.

I;m really nervous about doing both but reading your story and many ohters has giving me courage.

Thanks I love these boards!

I will post my story and pix when I get braced!

I had my 3rd adjustment a couple of days ago. The bracket that was loose got rebonded. I got my archwires changed, same round top, same rectangle bottom.
I decided to go with a purple powerchain as the clear one I had before became yellow.

The ortho told me to stop wearing the crossbite elastic on my left side as it is corrected but continue with the right ones. I got a new elastic configuration this time to correct that loopside looking teeth developed a few months ago. The purple chain makes it look more obvious, but who cares.
I was looking forward to these elastics, even though it looks funky when I talk, I don't care, I just want my teeth to look "normal" again.

No much pain or discomfort this time, things are not "looking" (literally..cosmetic wise) but things are going well :)

Here are some pics from this time.

Glad t hear you have one side of your cross-bite already corrected! There is progress, after all!

Those same elastics are on my way, I hope I will wear them only a few months and m bite will get sorted out as well!

I'ts been a long time.

I think I had my 4th adjustment (?) last month. Nothing exciting happening, my archwires got changed, powerchain changed and not wearing it all around my lower arch but going from left canine to right incisor now. A bracket was repositioned on my lower right canine, I didn't ask why. I think I am just indiferent at this point. 2 more months and I will be braced for 1 year and I am not happy with the progress.

I am still wearing elastics on my right side for the crossbite, those molars are extruding. The loopsideness/cant hasn't changed and its really frustrating. I also need to have a baby tooth and maybe one permanent tooth pulled and he says he wants to wait. The ortho doesnt seem to be worried about it, he says it will be fixed and need to be patience. I don't want this treatment to become a 3 year treatment

Sorry for the more negative than positive post. Its been a while, I needed to vent.

Hi Flaka,

Sorry to hear you're kind of down in the dumps about what's going on(or not going on :? ). I think a lot of us hit a "plateau" at a certain point in our treatment and get frustrated. I know I have been with my overlapping front teeth since my second month although doesn't quite compare to your issues. I guess the only advice I have is be patient and I know that's easier said then done but, hang on...it'll get better. And, of course, you can always vent here...that's what we're here for and, to some degree, we're all going through it I suppose :D .

Did your ortho say why he wanted to wait on pulling those teeth?

Chin up  !
Keep smilin'! :)
