So sorry  to hear your bad news- my thoughts are with you now and if I could fly over I would come and look after your kids so you can go to your ortho.
Is it worth perhaps getting a second opinion from another ortho.....!

Never give up- there is always a way - you will then have a life time of a perfect smile.... :-1

Hi all! I am thrilled to report that my "little green dudes" still aren't causing any problems. :D They are slightly tender when I bite down on them but other than that no pain at all!

Denise: I sure have told hubby! I am way too excited not too. LOL. That man is always 210% behind me in whatever I do. We've known each other since my 6th grade year and his 7th grade year so he knows how important this is to me. Last month I asked him about a few color options and he told me that any of them will look good. I love my hubby sooooo much.  R&R just could not get here fast enough I tell ya. I'm so glad that he is always right there ready to go through whatever it is that I do. Anyway, enough gushing over my hubby lol. I am getting just the regular metal brackets. I really wanted to get the clear ones but I would have had to come up with $300 more for the down payment so it just wasn't going to happen in 2 weeks. I put my down payment yesterday, too. The butterflies- ahh yes, the butterflies. It is crazy how many emotions you can have at one time. I am excited, scared, curious, nervous, and so much more.

Nikki- Hey girl! I'm glad to hear that your braces are treating you better now! When are you going to start doing progress pics? I think I will do mine every week to see if there is any movement going on. I got to thinking today and if little rubber bands can move your teeth in a week, imagine what braces can do. :)

Sara- Hi hun! Thank you for the thoughts and kind words. I decided that one way or another this is going to happen. I even talked my friend into coming and staying with my babies for my braces app. It's at 7:00 am CST so she is going to just come over and go to sleep in my bed with the baby until either I get home or they wake up. I'm so glad that she finally said that she will keep them for me. She is leaving for FL that day though so my app has to be early in the morning. It all works out perfectly, though. Thank God!!

Peggy- Thank you! They haven't been bad at all so far to my great surprise. I was dreading them b/c everyone talks about how bad they are. But they have proven to be no problem for me. :D Boy am I glad!

Congrats on getting started angel84. I'm got 4 teeth extracted last week and was totally unhappy when I heard that that would be the plan at my initial consultation. The thought of holes in my smile terrified me, I have enough issues with the crowding, so I sympathized with that part of your story. I get my spacers on July 15, nice to hear someone say that they haven't been that bad. My braces go on July 24, can't wait. Good luck and keep posting your progress!

Yay for supportive hubbies too!

Hi Peggy! You know, I think it JUST hit me... I HAVE 2 DAYS LEFT!!! Hooolllyyyy craaappp!  Now I'm nervous. I haven't really thought about it much the past few days. I've been all wraped up in my baby getting his 1st and 2nd tooth and then him being sick yesterday and today. Oh boy... 2 days left of freedom to eat whatever I want... makes me want to go run out and get a HUGE cheesburger! I have so many emotions now. Even a little cold feet! I can't chicken out now. Right!?

Oh! You are so right. Woohooo for single digits!!! :D :D :D Actually I'm kinda glad that you pointed it out. I went from terrified to excited mixed with terror now. ;) You ever want something for sooo long and then when the time comes and you can have it you kinda have second thoughts? Did that make any sense at ALL? LoL. Don't mind me. Adrenaline is pumping now. :D I wish that my hubby would call so that I could talk his ear off with all these emotions!

I just read through your story. You are missing the same lower molar I am! What caused its demise?

So I tuned in just as you are about to get braced. Congrats! I'm happy to hear that your spacers have been treating you well. Good luck with your brace day, and I will stay tuned for updates!

Sweet- Yes, yes I totally know what you mean about being a bundle of nerves. When I actually let myself think about it I get all nervous and antsy. But you are right. It will be more than worth it in the end. I can't even imagine how it will feel to see my teeth all straight. Wow! What an awesome thought...

Peggy- Yep, I think my best friend is getting sick of hearing me talk about it all the time, too. It is pretty nice to be able to come here and talk about your feelings with people who can actually relate, huh? I was sooo excited when I found this site. It is actually what inspired me to take the steps to get it done. And now here I am. A little over a day left until I get them on. Craziness I tell ya. Trust me, you will blink and it will be your brace day. Looking back to my consultation 2 weeks and 3 days ago, it seemed like forever until it got here. I was so depressed b/c it seemed like so long. I feel the same way as you about not being able to believe it's really happening.

Catfish- (love the name! lol) Ugh that thing caused me problems for YEARS! It started with a cavity when I was in middle school and just progressed until it broke off to the gum line. It hurt soooo bad. And anytime I would bite on something shocks would go through my jaw and make my eyes all teary. It wasn't quite as bad once it actually broke off completely though. I was finally able to get it taken out about 2 years ago when we got dental insurance. See, growing up my mother wasn't around. And when she was she was too busy with her guys and other stuff to worry about things like brushing my teeth/ my dental health. When my dad got custody of me at 8, he was a truck driver and rarely home so he didn't teach me, either. As a matter of fact, I can't remember EVER seeing either one of my parents brush their own teeth. I never even went to the dentist until I was 22 I think it was- possibly the end of my 21st year. And that is when we got dental through the army. So here I am at 24 fixing my smile finally. It is a lifelong dream come true! :D
