SO I have just had my next adjustment (I can't remember what I am up to now. 4 maybe? or 3. hmm)

Lots of changes this time.

1. I have new wire top and bottom.
2. They took off the red molar blob things.
3. The very last tooth at the back doesn't have the wire through it. (but the bracket is still there. bizarre.)
4. He said next time I should be getting my final wire on the top! :O :O :O But I am only just shy of 7 months treatment, of an 18month sentence!

I don't see a lot of change in my pictures this time, but here they are anyway: (Don't mind my sudden white teeth, I have been playing with photoshop. haha)

No more red blobs!!! woo

And just for comparison:

---- OMG until I looked at my before photos, I was thinking "meh" finishing wire? I feel like its been a waste of time. But then I saw the before photos and went oooohhhhhhhhh better :D

Hey I just wanted to add....

Since having the braces my smile is so much wider. My before photos were seriously as wide as I could stretch my mouth. My current ones are just an easy every-day smile now. How completely odd.

You haven't had them on for that long though from your signature. Give it a bit longer. Are you taking pics of them? I have been taking pics after each adjustment. Also, I knew if they were moving cause I measured how far I could get my tongue in each gap! haha

yep. although, if you took them every day, you could make a cool video out of them. that would be cool. but they would all have to be exactly the same. bit of a hassle i spose. lol

Wow, you've made amazing progress! It's great!

My smile has widened as well, I'm also wearing damon braces, perhaps it is related? I've read somwhere in the board that damon expand your arches. Or perhaps it is the same for everybody in braces? Anyway, I really like it, I think wide smiles are much nicer than narrow ones.

Haha princesspeach, I understand. I thought about the difficulties of it after saying it. lol

jxds - its coming along nicely! and yep, my ortho said that the braces will make my arch wider - but I have no idea about if it is just damon's or if it is all. But when I say mine is bigger, my lips seem to open up higher - so you can see the tops of my teeth, whereas before you could hardly see my teeth at all. I don't know, maybe it has trained me to smile properly? haha

If you go on youtube and type in "Damon System Video" there is an explanation about widening of the arch using the damon system. It is a very interesting. I am sure other braces can do the same thing as well.

I have heard there are some controversies about orthodontists pulling teeth versus widening the arch. I saw a segment on a news program about it recently. It showed a set of identical twins that had different types of orthodontics. One had teeth removal and then straightening and the other had no removals and but arch expansion and then straightening (they didn't go into detail as to which name brand braces were used). After the treatments the twins didn't not look identical anymore. The one that had teeth removal had a more sunken in and flatter face and other a fuller face. It definately made a big difference in the outcome.

I have Damon's on as well and my smile has widened considerably after only 5 months.

I had heard about that controversy as well. Indeed, when I had my consultations, one ortho wanted to pull teeth and the one I chose didn't. That's basically why I chose this one, that uses Damon braces. I don't really care about the brackets I have (indeed, at the time I prefered ceramics instead of metals) but I did care about keeping all my healthy teeth! I got my wisdom teeth pulled, and that was enough for me!

I really like having a wider, fuller mouth. I've heard results are less stable without extractions, so I guess we'll have to wear more our retainers!

Hi everyone!!!

Well I went for my appointment today. No bands yet, but sounds like they might be coming next time. I have now got my final top wire with cool little spikey-uppy-things on them (I am referring to them as an antenna) which I assume are to hook the rubber bands onto? He said I will probably get my final bottom wire next time :O :D which I am also assuming will have its own set of little antennas. Hopefully no further forward than these ones, cause I am kinda shocked to see how far forward these ones are. Am I going to be forcibly mute for the final months of treatment? I don't think I can handle that! Hahaha.

Oh you will all be so proud... My bottom wire is a 16-25. No idea what that means, but I remembered :D and my top teeth measure 36. 36 what, I don't know. hahaha...

I also enquired about getting fillings done, and they said they visit my dentist I think once a month, and they could take out my wire, get the dentist to do the filling, and then put the wire back on. So I have to ring and try to arrange that tomorrow :D

Anyway, enough talking, here are the pics :D

Yeah I know, my teeth are yellow. I ate tomato based pasta sauce last night :D They are so going to need whitening at the end of this. haha
