Thank you. I'm pretty pleased I must admit and not long to go now. I think we have got to a point when it is as good as it can be and any additional movement will have an effect elsewhere so I'm ready to finish now.
Congratulations on nearing the end of your journey! I can't wait to see the final results so be sure to post some

Even though I haven't always commented, I've been reading your posts and following your story since before I got braced. Thanks for sharing your positive attitude--it was very encouraging for me in my early metal mouth days! I can't wait to hear about how much you love your retainers!

I certainly will. I'm planning on some before and after photos and can't wait to see the finished result too. Not long to wait now, only just over a week, it doesn't seem real.

Thank you Professor. I'm looking forward to the retainers, I've had them before first time around but the bonded ones will be a new experience. The wire is so thin and looks so delicate but once glued in place, should do a fantastic job. I'm glad I have been able to offer some encouragement to you, that's what this forum is all about.

Exactly, I won't recognise myself! I'm actually a bit apprehensive travelling a few days after getting the braces off for absolutely no logical reason at all. I'm not picking up my removable retainers until after I get back a week later and would feel a lot happier if I had them before going. I will have the fixed ones and surely nothing will move that much in a week? Not long now, time is flying by.

Hi,
Read your whole story today,it sounds fantastic.I too live in the UK. I have had the initial x rays, photo's etc etc now have my plan of attack and costs involved. I am extremely nervous and haven't been in touch with the ortho yet to say yes,I want my brace fitted. Reading your story has helped me to decide to go ahead with it,if I don't I will probably regret it and say if only I'd had a brace fitted. Got to make my decision soon. :?:

Hi, that would have been quite an endeavour, I'm glad you found it helpful. Getting braces as an adult is a far bigger experience in our heads than it is in reality. I remember thinking constantly about it in the run up to getting stated but once underway, it was a very easy experience. Take time to make sure you fully understand the treatment plan and the options, spend time ensuring all your questions are answered, get a good feel for the ortho practice (are the staff helpful, welcoming and friendly), make sure your own dentist is fully on board (mine agreed to see me every 3 months to check all was well) and if all these boxes are ticked, go for it, it's a decision you won't regret.

This forum is a great source of information and support and taking an active interest in the many posts helps both you and others following you. Good luck and I look forward to reading all about your own adventure.

With reference to my dentist being onboard. I haven't told him yet because I'm in two minds that once I have my brace fitted transfer to the practice that is fitting my brace to have all my regular check ups etc carried out there. :?:

These last few days with braces are flying by. I still can't believe this amazing experience will be over in just a few days. I've been taking loads of selfies to remind myself of what I look like this close to the end and will try and get some detailed close ups before Tuesday. Food that I have avoided for a while like curry and tomato based pasta sauces appeared in my shopping basket earlier in anticipation of being able to eat what I like so let's hope all goes to plan.

I'm with you on that one, I smiled far more with braces than ever before! Having clear elastic power chains has meant that I have been careful with staining but this won't be an issue very soon.
