Klobird: Don’t worry! I actually sent your idea to Eric  . It might work and I’m sure Eric will be very happy if it works

Jill: Thanks! Are you in a round wire? I had my .018 wire for about 2-3 months before I got a rectangular one. Five weeks with .013 wire before I got the .014 yesterday.

My teeth a little sore today but not more than usual. I eat tacos even though it was a bit painful (except my first week with the uppers I have never had to have that typical soft diet after a wire change. Not bad! ). 8)

Hi again EbonyQ,

I'm in the .019 rectangle finishing wire on my uppers. I'm still in my round starter wire on the bottom. My bottom teeth seem to be moving much slower. While my upper arch is now beautiful, I still have a ways to go to get my bite corrected. Only my back molars on the left side actually touch right now. I'll be so excited when we finally get all of them touching. :D It will be so much more fun eating. Those tacos of yours sound really good!!!

That must be a bugger, I can’t imagine how that would be. So far my teeth meet almost like normal and I’m crossing my fingers that it will stay that way  (but I'm sure they won't  )

My little sister (17 years old) wanted me to come with her to her dental appointment today, and to keep it short: it ended with tears and she never wanted to go back there again. I felt so sorry for her because I know how it is to have a ***** dentist. Apparently he has been like this several times :(

I don’t want her to become like me so I called my own dentist and got her an appointment with him even though we have to pay for her treatment now (if you’re under 18 you get free dental treatment if you go to a "public dentist", a dentist working for the goverment, and my dentist is a private one ). My dad will pay for her treatment

And of course, some of my teeth have moved with this new wire so my molars do not meet as normal Hahaha, I guess I should not have posted the post above

Hey Ebony, So sorry I have not been on lately, I've just been so busy at university taking 10 classes two of which had to be dropped and im getting super stressed and anxious about schoola nd I tihnk I need to transfer AGAIN. >:( College is frustrating. GRRRRRRR. So I feel so horrible that I haven't been able to comment on your progress since about August. So anywho I am more than proud of you for keeping your braces on and appointments up to date. You have more strength than you know and I am so proud. Keep it up, Ive got about 10-9 more months with mine. Honestly I think Im going to look like I have horse teeth when I get mine off LOL. I kinda cant wait because I hate food getting stuck up in here, but I like how they look on my teeth.

My bite it back to normal again, the strange bite just lasted a few days.

And last Friday I did the last thing I have been avoided since I started to work as an ortho assistant; assisting while the ortho place TAD’s. It went very well (but no way that I will let my ortho place any TAD’s on me  ). And I gain some new respect for boss; when he was at a conference a few months ago he got a TAD placed just because he wanted to know how it was for his pt.

Don’t worry BSS. I hope Collage gets easier for you soon

Hi Ebony!! congrats on a big step in a positive direction.
I can't say I would volunteer for a TAD just to see what it was like... your boss is quite a guy!!

It was adjustment time today:

The usual chat before treatment: I wanted to talk about how far we should push this. After having a few weeks with bad anxiety for the treatment ahead of me I was unsure if I could move to phase two of the treatment (fixing my bite), it’s when the really scary part starts (we can't just work with arch wires). I’m very happy with how my upper teeth are; they are straight and look wonderful. The canine is down, my teeth are in line. Phase one is done and I love my teeth!

Eric would do whatever I wanted to do. If I loved my teeth now and would not regret debonding my upper teeth he was happy with that (he said I could always get braces later if I wanted to fix my crossbite, overjet etc, which is true). If I just wanted to do phase one that was ok for him. I could get a debonding for my upper teeth and keep my lowers braced because they still needs some work.

The treatment: When it was time to do some treatment he asked if we should move to a rectangular wire on my lowers.
Me: “We just changed it to .014 wire last time. I’m not jumping from .014 to rectangular wire”
Eric “Are you sure you’re on a .014 wire? It looks like a .018 wire”
Me: “Yes, we went from .013 to .014 last time”
Eric: “should we try the .018 wire today then?”
“Not sure. Can’t we wait a little longer? I like this .014 wire. When I got it I hardly felt any soreness”
“What if we try to change it to the .018 wire and if you get panic or feel too much pressure then we will switch back to .014 wire?”
I agreed to this and Eric found the .018 wire. Took out my old one and then looked at me with a smile.
Eric: “This wire looks like a .018 wire. Look” he put the .018 arch wire with the arch wire I just had and they were the same!
“Did I just have the .018 wire without even knowing it?!”
And Eric started to laugh, he almost fell from his chair “You had the .018 wire without knowing it?” He could not stop laughing and I started to laugh a bit myself. “How funny is that? You did not know you had the .018 wire”

I’m sure this made his day! It was a bit funny, I was so sure it was the .014 wire because that was the one we agreed on. Either he took the wrong wire last time or he put the .018 wire on without telling me.
He put on a new .018 wire, we did not jump to a rectangular wire (and this was all that we did today 8) ).

The usual talk after treatment: Eric might consider hire me to work for him 2 days a week (I work 2-3 days a week on my current job so this will be perfect) because he needs a new assistant. I asked him if he was crazy, if he had seen me at these appointments, I’m all crazy with anxiety. He laughed and said he did not look at the anxiety because this was just towards treatments. I think he is crazy…

So next Friday I need to come back to reposition a bracket on one of my front teeth, this tooth is the only tooth that is still a little bit crooked and we will make my uppers ready for debonding on Friday. And then my uppers will be off after Christmas! Yahoo! :-* :jump:

I got the teeth I have been dreaming for

Jumping from .013 to a .018 wire after one month and I hardly felt anything (other than some soreness)! And they were now ready for a rectangular wire, wow! A little bit over two months and they are ready for a rectangular wire. I knew the lowers had moved fast, by the first week they were almost in line and at the same height.
If I had moved to a rectangular wire yesterday then they would be on the same arch wire as my uppers. Why do you move so fast lowers? My upper teeth can’t keep up with you

No, they don’t move faster than normal but it feels like they are moving superfast. It might be because they were so crooked and they all had to move so much to get in line. On Friday I will tell Eric that we can move to a rectangular wire on my lower teeth 8)

I gave Eric my CV about a month ago when I heard that he might need a new assistant but I never thought he would even consider my CV and put it in the pile with those others he consider hiring. But the question are if I want my ortho to become my boss too  He has seen me crazy with fear  But I think what he sees is a person who loves to work with orthodontics and to connect with pts, and this is what he needs.

I will post picture very soon. You guys will not recognize them. I love them!
