So, day 2 after adjustment and I must say these pink ligs are staying strong in their colour, well so far lol. I have had hot chocolate, coffee, tomato sauce, mashed pumpkin, and so far, so good! Lol. I know the staining probably won’t happen until over a few weeks time, but at the moment everything is ok.

As for the pain, I am getting spasms in my teeth again and lightning bolts  BUT not as bad as what it was the first time they went on. As I got a new wire down the bottom, a thicker one, that is where I am feeling it the most at the moment. I am feeling it on the top, but as I have the same wire, it is not AS bad. But some of the ligs are in figure 8 and i can feel it more on those teeth which is a good thing I am thinking lol.

I am already looking forward to my next adjustment and to get purple ligs lol! :-*

Now that my archwire has pretty much straightened out, I am liking my braces and not embarrest anymore and I have EMBRACED THE BRACE! Lol. Never thought I would say that but, I just did! Hehe (well that is until i need my wax again or something start poking or teeth get worse before better lol as I can see a few gaps forming!) :biglaf:

Oh and btw, Tobilei, I used my “caredent” wax the other day and it is AWESOME! I suggest you give it a go, just got it from a chemist :)

Hope you all have a good day!

Sorry your bottom teeth are bothering you- but you know the old saying "no pain, no gain" we have another one we use at the dojo "pain is just weakness leaving the body" - Glad you are finally "embracing your braces" especially since you have them anyway- you might as well make the best of it

Hope those bottom teeth feel better soon!

And lol, I haven't joined you because a) I am a big chicken and b) I'm not sure I like the look of coloured ligs on clear brackets (even though it will only be the bottom one's). AND I change my mind about stuff so much that I'm scared I'll put colours on and love them for an hour then be sick of them :P

Glad they're not staining. My daughter has never had hers stain (except when she got clear one's) but some colours do fade by the time they're due to be changed (not all, but some). Some just change colour. I think the hot pink went kind of orange for some reason.

My current ligs were hot pink and purple when I chose them- once they were on the brackets the hot pink paled down quite a bit.

My green ligs maintained color quite nicely- I 'll haveto ponder my next choice. :)

Just a quick update. I am clenching my front teeth again and at times, my jaw is aching. I suffer normal jaw tension anyway so not sure if it is just that or whether its cos things are moving. I am so scared of getting TMJ or whatever it is, from having extractions, whenever my jaw feels weird I freak out lol, but it doesnt click or anything so I think I am ok.

My teeth still love to clang together when I talk and often i feel like I clang them out of place and I feel like I need to push them back into place, and these are just my front teeth! My right top and bottom molars do not meet, they haven't for a while now. I also hit my lower brackets with my front teeth at times when the teeth spasms come on and that is starting to annoy me. The ortho did tell me to bite down when I had my adjustment and I think he was checking to see if they hit and said it was ok, but god, when they do, OUCH! not so much when I am eating, as I eat like a pig with mouth wide open and chew on the side like some other barnyard animal lol, i must look awful lol. I try my best to chew with my mouth shut but it is so hard, stupid extraction holes always get in the way! its hard eating with just the 2 top and bottom back teeth! lol.

My teeth are going ok, I am just getting disgusted/upset at seeing the plaque build up imerge from when the teeth move. Does anyone else have this? like one tooth has moved out from behind another tooth and then the side of the tooth that has moved out has plaque as I obviously couldnt clean it properly when it was behind the tooth. sigh. it is doing my head in and i want to get a clean but then at the same time i just think oh well, deal with it for a bit longer then get a good clean when your teeth are a bit straighter. I am not due for a clean for another 4 months yet... or so, but i am sure it would be ok to get a clean when I feel like I need it (as in, if i need one before 4 months are up). I think i would need some numbing done as i could not imagine the pain from the cleaning if it hurt the first time without braces! ouch! i am sure people think that i do not take care of my teeth in braces, but i do, and its just stupid build up from places I couldnt reach.

Baby pink ligs are still pink, so that is good lol.

also, i have been using my manual toothbrush at the moment as my electric one is hurting my teeth to much as they are sore from adjustment still. which brings me to the question:

do you prefer manual or electric toothbrush? which one does a better job? does it really matter which one we use?

anyway, better do some work lol.

I've been using an electric toothbrush for like 10 years now and feel like I can't go back to a normal toothbrush. Yesterday before my appt I used this normal toothbrush quick and it felt weird and like I didn't know how to brush my teeth that way anymore.

Though today with my teeth hurting... almost all of them except maybe 6, the electric one kinda hurts so I need to do "soft" mode. A few teeth hurt way more than others and it makes me wince when I hit it with the electric! But I'm gonna still keep using it. I have an Oral B Triumph Professional Series electric, btw.

i know i do love my electric toothbrush, i feel it cleans so much better and is not as much work lol. I have a Orab B vitality with an orthodontic head on it, but i am thinking I am going to buy myself a new one as the battery is wearing out (had it for a few years!) an it needs to be charged like every night! drives me nuts! lol. thanks for your post :)

just to continue on about my whine of this morning lol but i am having issues with dry lips. I continue to put lip balm on ALL THE TIME, and then they dry out and i talk and my brackets get stuck to my lip and i have to like make this weird face to get the bracket off my lip LOL it happens when I am talking to people and then I go to smile and its like ummm awkward... must look like a moron with half a lip hanging off the bracket and the other lip is normal LOL

anyway, fun times.... lol :-*

I hate electric toothbrushes  They're messy and the toothpaste drips all over my hand and I feel like I miss bits that I can angle my regular toothbrush to get to. I also feel like they hurt my gums a lot. I've owned a few electric toothbrushes in different styles but I just don't love any of them.

I haven't had the problem with plaque but my teeth weren't really difficult to floss before I got braces. They were all so far apart I could have parked a truck between some of them

The dry lips I can empathize with. I tend to dry out in winter anyway but my lips are driving me crazy! There's always skin hanging off of them. SO attractive

I don't have an electric toothbrush yet, but am thinking I should invest in one. I do however have the Water Pik, and never use it. I feel so clumsy with it and end up getting my mirror and counter all wet!! I need to figure out the best way to use it though because I am sure once my braces go on in a few days its a great way to clean them.

Hi Melanie :) you have the same name as one of my sisters :)

I have a water pik and i had the same trouble when i first used mine! lol. water went on the mirror, on the counter, in my eye LOL, but then I got used to it, just put it in your mouth and close your mouth over the top of it, if you open your mouth wide, water will go everywhere lol but if you kinda keep it closed over the nosal then it should be ok :) give it a go cos yes it is the best thing with braces!! i ate a pastie and rinsed with water and thought i got all the pastry out, then i used the water pik and tonnes of pastry still came out of the back molars! its worth getting used to :) :) good luck with your braces and do you have a blog or thread for your journey on here? hope it all goes well with you :)
