Hi Victor!!! Just catching up on your thread. It's really great that you have visible movement. I think the lig choice is great it will highlight your movement!! :D

How are those springs treating you? I will have one put in on my next adjustment to make room for my canine. Are they very painful?

Hi, Patricia S.! The springs are not painful at all. It just takes some time to get used to them. Be prepared for a lot of food to get trapped behind the springs! :D

Has it been 4 months already?!?!

#49 Post by victor36 »

Going in for my 2nd adjustment tomorrow... Wow its been almost 4 months now!! I hope this is the one where I get Lateral Incisor #2 wired in... if so then the laterals are getting their own special LIG color to mark the occasion... I'm tired of this spring catching food!!!! As for pics... well... It was either a) get a new camera, or b) go to Kauai for 4 days... hmm... tough decision hahahahaha... I will post pics soon... Not sure when... but soon....

See ya when I get back!!!

Post-Adjustment Update

#50 Post by victor36 »

Thanks for your support and well-wishings (is that a real word?)... my adjustment was amazingly painless... they seem to hurt less & less with each successive adjustment

But alas, my heart sank when my ortho was talking to his assistant tossing around phrases like "continue with the open coil" and "continue with the elastics"... oh well :-( another 8 weeks of food-trapping, floss-shredding spring-loaded fun :D

I did choose new lig colors though: pearl white for the top, and light blue for the bottoms. I really like the light blue color. Pics of my teeth will have to wait 'cuz I'm going to Kauai!!

And Meryaten, hahaha when i said "will post pics soon".. I meant pics of my teeth, not kauai... I'm not ready to show you guys pics of me until my smile is no longer under construction.

Talk to you soon!

FINALLY!!! LATERAL IS TIED IN, AND YOU GET TO SEE PHOTOS!!!

#52 Post by victor36 »

Okay everyone, the moment that we have ALL been waiting for has arrived... I got my 3rd adjustment today, and my upper right lateral incisor is finally tied in to the archwire!!! Woo-hoo!!!

They're using a square-shaped wire on the top arch, and the assistant used what felt like her entire body weight to get the wayward bracket tied in... LOTS of pressure at first, but then it subsided...

Also, I no longer have to wear the funky elastics in the back; now I wear the ones in the front to bring my bite together! (When I would bite down, my back teeth would touch but not the front teeth--which didn't seem to concern anyone so I didn't worry either.

And best of all, I now have a camera so everyone can join me in my excitement!! woo hoo!!

okay here is a picture from February 10th:

Congratulations Victor

I remember that feeling when my wayward lateral came onto the archwire, it was just so great to finally feel I had an arch, something that most of the population take completely for granted. Your teeth are looking really good. I think you'll be surprised how quickly those laterals come forward now they have joined their buddies on the wire. Mine did so without much pain so I hope yours behave equally well.

Joney

First off, WOW! The progress on your laterals is looking great. I've been keeping up with your story and I must say, I love your use of creative graphics. :)

Congrats on the laterals, arch, and camera! Looking forward to your next update

Congrats!! The day that the wayward lateral makes it to the wire is truly a great day. You'll be amazed how quickly it moves into line to the point that it looks like its been right where its is supposed to be forever.

thanks, acd, I'm reading "The Secret" from Rhonda Byrne so I have to visualize the end result, and I'm hoping that my teeth will look something like this when I'm finished:
