Hey Katie!

Ugh, that stinks losing a turbo. I can just see the "dishwasher guy" at the place where you went for drinks finding it in a glass!! :biglaf: "What the h#ll is that?" HAHAHAHA!!

Well, Tuesdays not too far away. I'd say you should have it replaced. Your ortho gave you two for a reason, right? :D And they FORGOT your mouth guard? Didn't they forget the turbos the first time? Lord, you're gonna have to get some sticky notes for them, as a reminder!!

I actually got myself some Walmart brand replacement drinks last week. They're really good(chocolate) and pretty filling. I usually have one sometime early evening as a bedtime snack....although my stomach still growls! hehe

Good luck at the ortho tomorrow!!
Keep smilin'! :)

Just me updating. Can't believe it's almost been ONE MONTH?!

The turbo is still MIA, doc said he will let it go for the time being. When I go in on 4/8 he will figure out if I really need a new one. Reason being? My bite is SOOO changed!!!!!!!! I don't even NEED the turbo anymore! The jabber tooth is now even with the rest of my bottom bite! All of my bottom teeth have shifted WAY outwards. When I floss I have space inbetween all of my teeth (not the top one, that is still pushed back) but EVERY other tooth, I'm like, "what's the point of even flossing?!" my teeth are like my four year olds, hahahahaha! NO KIDDING REALLY weird!

You really can't tell much by looking, except that my front teeth now have a BIG gap in them (on the bottom), but I know the braces are doing their job, and I am SO excited for April to get here for the adjustment!

My bottom arch has moved SO far up, it's seriously unreal. My profile has changed already! The recessed chin that I have hated my whole life, the one that even when I was 90 pounds I still had a double chin, is GONE! How can you're whole profile change so quick? Totally amazing!
I am so thankful everyday that I am on this journey.

Even though it sux that I can't eat much besides pasta and oatmeal (did I mention before this I had a carb phobia?! I am fighting a losing battle) In the end, I am going to have the smile I NEVER considered even possible! What an event for a 30+ year old!

Just a shout for those deciding/or just getting braced......DO IT!!!!!!! Yes, you ARE dorky and uncomfy for the time that they are on....but think of the YEARS after that you will have a kick ass smile?! SOOOOOOO worth it!!!!!!!!!!! :jump:

Hi metalmouthmommy ~

Well, that's certainly good about not needing those turbos anymore! Maybe he'll remove the remaining one on 4/8???

CONGRATS on all the changes in such a short time! That's AWESOME!!

Remember, instead of turbos I have a bite plate. The good thing about that is it is removable. The bad thing is that I really can't remove it or I'll scrape my top teeth on the bottom brackets. I only take it out to rinse it after I eat and when I brush. And if I'm not careful, I'll accidently scrape my teeth! It's an awful feeling! :-(*

My molars don't touch but I have managed to eat a cheeseburger, hot dog in a bun, pizza, and a chicken patty. Not bad, I think!

Tomorrow will be my One Week Anniversary!

By the way, I've FINALLY posted some pics! Come check them out!

Wow! That's great on all the movement!!!! It gives me hope that mine will move quickly and I won't be stuck with "ski slopes" for long. Hard to believe it's only been a month yet it's been a month already...keep up that great attitude, girl!! :jump:

Just wanted to compare some pics from start to month 1. I know after looking I feel like all the movement is just in my imagination, lol. BUT....I swear my bite is SO different, so it has to be true
ps. note the gap on the bottom teeth AND my solo royal blue turbo

Hi Katie,

Looking good, I can't get over how much movement you've had on your uppers. That's awesome!!! Hopefully the lone turbo will go bye-bye as well! As far as your bite goes, I'm sure that you feel it change on a daily basis. I know that mine is still changing regularly as well.

Catch up with you soon!

Great pics, Katie!

If your bite is changing, then you know there's been movement. You just can't see it! We just gotta trust that progress is being made!

Hi Katie! :D I just read through your story. You've had quite a journey! Turbos sound annoying too. :( I hope that gets easier.

Your messages are hilarious! :jokerlaugh:

I'm glad you're seeing so much progress and feeling happy about the braces.

I hope things go well for you on the 8th!!!

Good Movement for 1month. I can' wait to see my movement in a month I am in day 5 of being braced. The pain is really subsiding.

:D Hello fellow metal mouths! After much time away I am back to update on my progress.
For a while there really was not much to talk about....I think I'm finally seeing a bit of progress.
Overall life in braces has been uneventful since I last posted. I did brake off a bracket and had to have it replaced. I was given a box of Fannie Mae for Mother's Day and I could NOT resist eating a Turtle even though I *knew* I shouldn't do it, LOL. Low and behold.....ONE piece of fricken candy and the bracket pops off! :? Hahahahaha. I've given up on caramel, nuts, and chocolate until these babies are off!!!
I had my second adjustment on 5/20. They tightened my wire ties a LOT and I've really seen movement since that's for sure. My only issue is my eye tooth is SUPER sensitive to cold now, and it also feels like the root is pushing into my sinus cavity under my nose. There is a ton of pressure on that sinus. Very odd.
The jabber tooth is still unbraced. The spring is still in place, but I just don't think it's doin the trick. Not a lot of space/movement and I've had the spring for six weeks now. My next adjustment is July 15th, and he will decide if they are going to brace it or pull it. At this point, I'd just as well have it pulled. We shall see.........
Here are some updated pics to show progress.
