I'm like freaking myself out almost. Like I just noticed a spot on my bottom tooth that looks like a chip almost. There's no way it's could have been from having these braces since my top teeth don't touch my bottom tooth there. Maybe it's from my teeth rubbing before I had braces.

I have also noticed some discoloration... My big front tooth has a discolored spot... but I can't seem to get it to show in a picture... so I can't tell if it's a shadow or I'm crazy or what?!?!?

Can the glue or etch stuff they put on stay on and then discolor a tooth?
Omg I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU MEAN!! I have had them for 3 days and I am freaking out about spots appearing and not being able to floss and stuff stuck between my teeth!!

I still have “white” glue that you can see around the brackets, i have no idea if that is gonna stay there or meant to be there or what lol. i dont think it is discolured. I thought the glue they use is meant to prevent discolouration and decay etc?

When I first got my molar bands i remember thinking that my tooth was discoloured and i was freaking out cos it was just 2 days in and then the dentist checked when i had my extractions and he said it was a shadow from the metal on my tooth lol!

I know what you mean about freaking out and i have been looking at my teeth so closely as well!! maybe we should stop looking at them and just let them do their thing? It is really hard not to inspect them though hehe!

I just caught up with your story and I agree with you that braces look better on others.
I feel geeky in mine even though a couple of people have said they thought my braces looked cute; I think they were just trying to make me feel better.

LOL Pretty sure I haven't had anyone say they look cute. Mostly I've just gotten "They don't look that bad!" Uhh thanks. How about "They look good!"... not "they don't look bad!" But I think my family said that, and they have only seen me in pictures because I don't live near them. Maybe they'll look better in person.

1 Month down! 15-17 more to go!

Not a whole lot of noticeable movement but I think that one of my canine teeth has come into line a bit more. And I think I have a premolar on one side that has rotated maybe because it was sore for a few days and now it sorta feels like my bite is slightly different, even though I can't really bite down on my back teeth because of those bite things.

I tried to eat some venison steak my husband grilled up. Didn't work. It didn't hurt but maybe they were just a little too chewy and I felt like I was chewing (already slowly chewing) too long. And I didn't feel like I could chew real hard because I felt like it would hit a bracket and pop one. Who knows. I guess I'll stick to softer meats.

My 1st adjustment is coming up Saturday and I just don't really know what to expect. Someone posted today how much it hurt but other people said it didn't. Also, I've heard other people say that when they take the wire off, you can brush you teeth and floss freely. But... I'm not going to go to my ortho appointment with unbrushed teeth! So what's the point really to brush before and brush during?

i can understand how eating steak would be hard, i am to scared to try! i can chew chicken, but barely.. just kinda bite it a bit and then swallow it basically, not fully chewed, but its the best i can do as chicken kinda falls apart alot easier than steak.

I haven't had my first adjustment yet, mine is on the 14th May, so still weeks to go yet, but i must admit i am a bit anxious and nervous as my teeth are so sensitive and sore (it hurt to put the ligs on when I first got my braces!) so i am not looking forward to them taking these ligs out and putting new ones in specially as my teeth are a bit wobbly at the moment

I too have heard that you can floss and brush at the adjustment appointment, however i am not sure if my orthodontist does this, i never thought to ask, and i ALWAYS brush etc before orthodontist or dentist, i could never go in not brushed! yuk! lol so i guess if they give you the chance to at least floss with the archwire out, i would do it anyway, might as well lol :) hope it all goes well for you!

And I've realized that flour tortilla wraps are my least favorite thing to eat. They are kind hard to bite into and they just get stuck up everywhere! And then it gets all gummy and doesn't come out... and it's white so it's pretty noticeable.

Yeah yesterday we ate some chicken fajitas. The peppers and some lettuce was stringy and I couldn't bite it! lol I just find the wraps too tough.

You'll eat steak again! You have to cut it up pretty small but you can eat it :) I don't have it very often but it is do-able.

Ugh, those flour tortilla's just turn into super glue in brackets. So does special K! You need dynamite to blow that stuff outta there :gavel:

Hmm I've never brushed at an adjustment. I brush thoroughly before I go. I think I'd feel like I was wasting his time asking to brush my teeth half way through :paperbag:
