Hey Nettie--Thanks--I think I'm going to talk to my regular dentist about it...I looovveee her, and she likes me and has offered me help in case I have problems with this office...I think she knew right off that it was going to be problematic. She briefly (hardly noticeable) mentioned someone else that she had to help out who was going to this ortho office. And she asked me kind of questioning, how I ended up with this ortho..She said he was brilliant, but she was quizzical. And the reason I am going to this ortho is because of a referral from a dentist who does 6 month smiles (who suggested I go with full ortho treatment)--and my dentist had already told me beforehand that she would trust ANYTHING the referring dentist decided. (I talked to my dentist about braces prior to pursuing them)...I know long and complicated...

Anyway, I do want my teeth to be perfect and from what I understand, my ortho is the best. I doubt he even knows how his office presents itself.

You asked what happened...it has been one thing after another. I will give one for instance among many...the day I got my braces, I got probably the worst assistant in the whole place.. she acted BORED to death...she cut corners--I'm pretty sure they clean your teeth before they put braces on--they do in every video I have seen--she didn't. She was paying NO attention to what she was doing the whole time she was preparing my teeth--she spent every single time she had to wait for the timer to go off, by looking at herself in the mirror on the opposite side of me...it was ridiculous...I don't know if she had a boogie the size of a golf ball on her face or what, but she was intent on checking herself out thoroughly!! They didn't even act like I was there at all. They were putting the braces on--didn't talk to me AT ALL--instead spent the whole time talking about going to McDonald's for lunch (it's right across the way). I got NO information at all about braces--no how to's , no what to do's, no nothing...I have gotten ALL of my information off the internet. No information about what I may experience that would cause me to have to call them and come back to get fixed. When I do call them, I can hear the boredom and sigh when the receptionist answers the phone. The orthodontist did call me last week, which shocked me,
to ask me how all the bad wire stuff was going--it was the 1st time he ever called me by my name that I am aware of.

I feel like a car on a conveyor belt, only all the metal is in my mouth...I don't know---maybe everyone's experiences are the same, and my expectations are too high..I really don't know...

Hey BiP--Ya, I think the first thing I will do is talk to my regular dentist about it...she is 58 and had braces when she was 49, so I will ask her where she went...

Hi Klobird!

I'm sorry to hear about how your Ortho's office is treating you. That's pretty amazing that they are paying that little attention. If the Orthodontist is great that's probably why anyone goes to him. She didn't clean your teeth before putting the brackets on!? It may sound like a gamble but I say let the Ortho know what is going on. If you don't feel like calling him see if you can get his email address. Maybe he can whip his assistants into shape. If that doesn't work, I would find another Orthodontist. Braces are an adventure, you want the people you are working with to make you feel comfortable, especially when braces aren't comfortable. Either way, your teeth are going to look so great! Good luck on your journey and everything in between. :)

I do see a change!! A definite change...there is a front rotated tooth that is slowly coming straight-right in front of my canine. All my life that crooked tooth has bugged me. Yipppeeeee! It's the only tooth that I have been really looking at to see if there is any change happening. It has been so slow that I didn't want to believe that it is getting straight, but it is!
OK, well almost 5 weeks is pretty quick in the scheme of things..

I have a teeth cleaning in August. I'm going to have to ask the dentist if I need to get the archwire off first or what, and how to go about that whole thing. I think I read somewhere that people do get their archwire first, but I don't know...

Oh wow, one of my two front teeth just this minute, is feeling really weird...time to go look in the mirror for my 3rd look of many, many, many today!!

I have just read thru my posts. I'm surprised at how negative I have been. When this is done though I know that I will have had an amazing transformation, and that excites me...

Last night I tried to put a pic of me in my braces from my san disk thing on my phone, into the computer. I got it fitted into the right spot on the side of the computer, but then had no idea what to do. I'm going to have to ask around.

I think I almost look better with the braces on, if that can be possible!

Oh ya, I have given up on eating with the elastics in. Last week they started snapping and breaking almost every time I ate something, or they came off one hook and stayed on the other. I would run to the mirror with my mouth full of food to find that elastic and get it out of my mouth before I swallowed it. So, I decided what the h#ll, I will just take them out
to eat from now on....

My gums/teeth are still a little itchy today, and I find myself really biting down--like clenching--because it feels better.
The ortho said my teeth would get loose, but so far they haven't.

So, all in all, I'm getting it all sorted out and more used to it....with 2 years to go I would hope so!!!

Ichy teeth and gum is a sign that your teeth has started to loosen, and DON'T clench! I did that and suddenly one of my teeth came loose, it was accompanied with this really loud cracking noise - freaked the hell out of me! YAY, rotation, I can't believe how little time it has took for the teeth to start to move...
