Hey BiP--I moved back to my beginning blog "I will do this!"---feels more like who I am--I know, weird...

I am going to actively seek help this weekend to get pics and a ticker up.

I am really glad that we got our braces on at the same time to be able to share problems/progress.. It helps to know that someone else is in the same boat time wise, experience wise etc...

Ems is at about the same time as us also, but I can't find a "Braces Story" for 'her?'

One more week before I am due back in the ortho's office :/ braces and me have never been best friends, but who says they can't be my good friends. OK that was just random. Regardless, I have to say that apart from having to break pieces of food before putting them into my mouth and them causing me some ulcers. They are feeling fine really, I have actually forgotten the feeling of non-braces!

Hi BiP and Klobird!

Sorry i haven't been on here for a wee while..... I don't currently have a story, I am not the best story teller and might just bore everyone

Lately I haven't had any trouble with my braces other than days of random pain and yesterday they started to rub at the back like crazy!

Haha here's a laugh for you both..... I had a lunch date with a friend on Tuesday and we went to a place called Pita Pit that sells Pita pockets stuffed with meat and salad (a bit like subway), anyhow we both went in and ordered our meal and sat down to eat and wait for it...... I whopped out my stainless steel knife and fork and proceeded to cut up my Pita and eat it!! I felt like such an idiot but we had a good laugh over it

I hope you have both been well :)

Hey BiP--

It's really weird that everyone has appts more frequently than I do....From the time I got my braces on to my next appt. is 3 months!!! I'm thinking there's no rush because I'm probably going to be in these forever!!!

Hi!

Ha I take my knife and fork almost everywhere nowdays, it's great but I do feel pretty stupid most of the time  I love Japanese food but have been putting it off since I had my braces put on.... not too sure how that would look in public? Haha!

I too have had some rubbing at the back and one spot in the front near my bottom left canine is contantly catching and tearing but the Ortho reckons it's becasue my muscles are too tight in my chin.......

Hope you have a great weekend! TGIF!!!

Hey BiP--

I really, really want to know what a first adjustment is like... You are heading in to the unknown ahead of me. When I get my first adjustment, I have to do the spacers thing a week before...they couldn't get a couple of molar bands on last time because of the tightness...I still have 2 months before my first adjustment!!

Can you believe it's been almost a month already!!!

Hi klobird!! Yup :) I will let you know! Down to the very little details :P Ah those evil spacers....hahah have fun with them...and oh yeh the molar brackets may feel slightly weird when your ortho first put them on, they felt like your bite is off and you can't completely bite down..should take around 1 week to resolve :) Time goes so so fast!!!

2 days till my first adjustment!!!! Not sure whether to laugh or cry..
Time goes so so fast! Can't believe it has been 1 month already!! If only the next 23 months would go as fast as this.
So I was cleaning my teeth...and I found that in addition to the countless number of ulcers...I now have a lovely mucosa cyst in the inner lower lip....<sigh> doesn't hurt, but it is annoying, think it must be the excessive sucking I do with braces?!

First Adjustment

#73 Post by Beauty is Pain »

One month and one day since I got my braces, I went for my first adjustment today. The wires were replaced, from 022 to 014......whatever that means :P Since my teeth have become loose, after the wires have been put on, I felt an immediate pressure/tightness. He took the wire stuff off and then measured and inserted the new wires, cut the blunt bits and it was done! The process took around 30 minutes and went pretty fast, after which my ortho took pictures of my teeth :) 2 hours after, as I am sitting to type this up, I am feeling an uncomfortable pressure on my teeth - nothing intolerable, just slightly weird. Apparently in another month's time, he is going to put on the harder 'inflexible' wire....so I will feel a lot of pressure and possibly pain for the first 1-2 days...as if the tightness now isn't that bad.

Nevertheless, time has passed pretty quickly. Today when my ortho was taking photos, he said that my lower arch is starting to look much better, that the U-Shape is more of an U rather than a U with a funny line in the front due to the overcrowding of my teeth. He said that my case is not very complex, despite the Class III malocclusion and my time should be able to be shortened :)

Hey BiP--

I'm glad to hear all is well!! What was he measuring? The difference in the bite? How are you doing as time goes by?

My ortho called the other day and asked how I was doing...he told me that my teeth were going to feel loose, but they haven't yet. In fact, I'm not really sure anything is happening yet. At first, I thought I saw changes, but now I'm not so sure.

What is really weird, though, is that I really can see my smile and lips changing. It's weird but I like it...it's like my bottom lip especially is getting fatter, and my smile is getting wider..Weird!!!

hahah I know!! I am enjoying the changes day to day. Ah my teeth are really loose, seriously I poke my tongue around and I could hear cracking sounds...Not very pleasant, feel like I am teething. hehe it is not as painful as the first time. I could still eat things, though do chop them up into little pieces - that way you can eat moderately hard things :) Oh apparently the numbers were just codes for the thickness of the wires......technical jargon

hehe how have you been these days? braced and well? Oh yeh, do you still like break things into small pieces when you eat, even in public???? Sometimes I would be eating a sandwich and I don't have a knife or fork, so I end up smelling like bacon = rush to the bathroom to wash hands :P
