Gee thanks!!

So I have this really weird up front triangle elastics on both sides that I have to wear 24/7. I sound all lispy when I talk on the phone. So, I'm talking on the phone today to a guy friend who works down the street from me, and he starts imitating my lisp! I have to be on the phone all day with people! Yikes!! :yikes:
I sound like Daffy Duck!

OK, so I need to focus--April 22, April 22, April 22, April 22.......

I'm thinking of doing my last month in some other outrageous power chain color. I've had the deep sky blue the whole time, which I really like. I feel like it helps my teeth look a little whiter. Anybody have any suggestions??!! (Not brown--I don't want it to look like I've been eating poop!)

Your lucky you get to choose colours for your powerchains. My ortho automatically gave me clear (i guess if you go for clear braces he assumes you don't want neon powerchains) so no more Indian food for me for a while. I really like the look of hot pink though pretty and stain resistant apparently! I think I might get a bright colour just once to try it out too!

My whole journey started on a dental phobia site. I was absolutely TERRIFIED :yikes:   of the dentist. It's a long story, but with the help of the most amazing dentist--I call her "superdentist"--the terror is now down to anxiety. I use to start being terrified about 2 months before my dental check-up/cleaning. We are talking outright obsessively terrified. Before I first saw "superdentist" she sent a questionnaire. It was the most detailed one I've ever gotten from any medical/dental professional. Basically, I told her that she would be the last dentist I would try. Either this appt. would work out, or I was never going to the dentist again in my life. I told her that in the questionnaire. (Along with a bunch of other information..) I really meant it.

She is the most amazing dentist I have ever known. And.....I get all the nitrous I want!! Anyway, the point of all this is....I HAVE TO GO TO THE DENTIST IN ABOUT 13 HRS. :yikes: :yikes: :yikes: :yikes: :yikes: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!. She's not THAT great. OK, yes she is. But the smells are still the same, the chair is still the same etc etc etc. So ya, anxiety is setting in. Absolutely nothing like 2 years ago, but it's there.

So, I just got an e-mail tonight from the dentist asking me to be there 10 mins early so they can get the nitrous started. Ummmm-- OK!!  :-*

Yes, I get nitrous for a check-up/cleaning...Yes I do.....what's really weird is that going to the ortho doesn't bug me at all....To me, I feel like the ortho is like working on a car in my mouth. Like he doesn't even say anything about my teeth except how they're moving. Totally non-threatening.
But going to a regular dentist is like visiting the grim reaper or something. Scary. Icky. Freddy Krueger....like who does that willingly?

So that's what's on my mind tonight. Heavy sigh........

Wow, so I'm the total opposite. I have no fear at all at the dentist. But at the ortho, like today, he was having trouble getting the wire out of the tube in the back on one side...pulling really hard, I mean like let me get better leverage in front of you so I can pull this tooth...err wire out of here. I get so nervous that my hands start sweating really bad. It did feel like he would pull the tooth out.

Klobird, klobird, klobird…. I think you brain got it all wrong… dentist is not scary, it is the ortho you need to be afraid. The work they do is what you need to be afraid of
I can take your dental appointment if you can take my next adjustmet. Deal?

Good luck today! You will take it like a hero!!

Klobird, you aren't alone. I am the same. Dentist= major fear, ortho= no problem (by comparison). I have a dentist appointment in April and I'm already anxious. I couldn't even explain what I'm nervous about...just plain old scared. In fact, I won't let them book me an appointment for 9 months later when I go because I will worry about it for months. I just call when it's time and book it then. Sometimes I have to wait to get a date but I'm ok with that. I think it ticks them off. I know it annoys the receptionist when I refuse to pre-book but I am very stubborn about it. She tries to convince me that it is a busy time of year and that when I call I may not be able to get an appointment for that time. She doesn't realize that I really don't mind waiting an extra few weeks or even months. Gotta do what you gotta do to relieve the anxiety.
