Hey,

I just looked through your story and your teeth have moved sooo much - they look amazing. Bummer about 9 more months but it'll be so worth it.

Buffy,

Sorry to hear you will be in braces longer than you expected but your teeth are looking really good. Your arches, your smile have come a long way and it looks great. I know how it feels to be braced for almost a year. I wish my teeth looked like yours at this point and I also know how braces get old and it seems like nothing is happening after a while.

Hang in there, time goes by so fast and you will acomplished what you wanted at the end. :)

ooh, sensitive teeth today, and for the last few days. I'm hoping it's because they're moving, but it's definitely pretty awkward to be standing around wincing every time there's a gust of cold wind when you live in Ireland!

News from appointment today. My ortho reckons I'll be hitting the two year mark, so I've got a way to go yet :(

Also, I've joined the elastic club - have one going from my upper right to my lower molar to fix my midline. It's not too sore at the moment, but it's tricky to eat!

Got new colours on the bottom - orange ligs. Still deciding whether I like them or not. Will try to take pics soon and show them off.

Thanks for the posts!

Some pictures, both of my new lig colour and my elastic configuration. It's very simple, just from top to bottom.

<sigh> The wonders of orthodontics - just as one thing gets fixed, another goes wonky.

For a brief, beautiful period of time, I had a perfect midline. So at my last adjustment, my ortho said I could give the elastics a rest for a while, and he doubled up the powerchain on the left hand lower side to close my one remaining extraction gap (very stubborn gap!). He also removed my powerchains on the top, as those gaps were closed, so no need for chain.

And now, day by day, I'm watching my lower gap close. And in a completely unrelated and horrifying development, I'm watching a gap open between my two front teeth on top. Agh! It feels so huge, and when I look at it, I think it's huge too and getting huger. They were so perfect, why on earth are they shifting into crazy teeth mode?!

Will take pics later. Wish I'd taken some of my perfect midline, as now all I've got is a horrible gap.

He actually put a powerchain on my top set last time, but although the gap has closed a little, it's still there even though it's nearly time for my next appointment! This next one will be the third appointment where he's probably going to end up doing something other than he intended, which worries me slightly.

A few appointments ago, he had wanted to take out the wire and put some bends in it to refine the shape of my arch, but couldn't because a gap between my lower molars (from extraction) hadn't closed. He put a double powerchain on that to close it. Next appointment, he couldn't put the bends in because a gap had appeared in my front teeth. Now this appointment, he probably won't be able to either, as the gap is still there.

I'm hoping, but I'm not optimistic, that this delay is not going to mean a later removal date. But of course, if I'm being delayed now, the extra time has to go somewhere...

Not so happy this month with the progress :(

So, two sets of update pics this time. First set were taken in June, just after my stubborn front teeth gap opened up. It remained stubornly open until just a few days ago when, almost spontaneously, it seems to have closed again. So the second set of pics are the latest, taken tonight. They feature my front teeth all together, gap free, and a lovely midline! Lets hope it lasts this time!

19 months in. Never thought it would be this far gone. Today, I am mostly wondering how the brace-goblins managed to sneak in last night and replace my previously mostly comfortable braces with ones made of pointy barbed wire and pain.

Well, some news. I've got a new wire - a light one with a slight bend in the front to even up my two front teeth.

My ortho is hoping that I can be brace free by christmas, and I have to say that I'm really excited to be heading into the home stretch.

Pics soon.
