Hi Jen
Glad to see you're having so much fun with your braces.
I love your new purple ligs...they're sooo festive! I finally let the ortho tech switch me to color @ my last visit.
It's kind of funny that I came into a discussion here on your page about braces and intimacy. I'd love to add my own perspective... My wife was in braces for 2 years before me. I had braces when I was younger, so I wasn't afraid of them. Not long after her braces went on, we were enjoying kissing passionately again...with a new twist
.
I liked it. Of course you have to be careful! Now that I'm braced and she's not, we have fun with that element again. I love kissing... and after I got my braces on, asked my wife if they bothered her at all. The answer was "Not at all." Regarding the other intimate things (w/ braces), I'm a big fan of the razor method as well.
As far as your missing bracket goes, I'd bet your ortho will replace it w/ a band instead. I'm getting my bottom braces shortly and the doc plans to band one back molar (instead of a bracket) because it has large fillings. He says a bracket there won't hold well. It sounds like maybe the same with your crown.
Lot's of luck & keep up the great attitude.....

ok...lets see if I'm smart enough to do this........

alrighty, so.....very minimal movement...but there's movement none the less....yaa freaakkkkin hoooooo!!!
What I find interesting, is that when I look in the mirror...I see nothing....but yet clearly by looking at these pics...there a movin...Now...for the tops

Ok..so as for the tops...same thing...very minimal movement...but these ones...ache all the time (throb more like it) and as you can see...the outer corners of each front tooth is almost touching the corners of the next tooth...which in the before pic...weren't....even....close. But, just like the bottoms....can't tell the difference by looking in the mirror...so my braced friends...a picture does tell.....a thousand words.

Pictures are amazing aren't they?
You've had a great deal of movement. In looking at your arch I'm curious if your ortho is planning on expanding your top arch? If so, do you know how?

One of my top front teeth was angled exactly the way that yours are, the one on my right. It took FOREVER for that tooth to finally start to straighten, and he still has to wire tie it or it tries to go back. I saw movement everywhere but that tooth for the longest. Hopefully yours won't be as stubborn as mine. I know that thanks to that tooth I'm probably gonna have a bonded retainer up there. Ugh!!

UPDATE in the love DEPARTMENT***
Going down there is totally doable
phew!!! Except i have tried you know letting him finish there I don't if its going to get stuck in my teeth and just hang there...ewww!! lol.
You just have to put your lips over your teeth reall well and enjoy it
I was a tad bummed thinking I wouldn't be able to play his magical flute he said he couldn't feel any teeth or brackets

Ok kiddies.....I've complained about it...for sure my husband has complained/worried about it....stop the press...I repeat..stop...the press...a successful "twizzler" has occurred. (due to the graphic nature of what a twizzler actually consists of...and small children's eyes may be watching.....you'll just have to pm me to find out what it entails
)
Anyway, was sick for a while, cold..and let me tell ya, sneezing none stop with 2 front teeth that throb constantly, umm....not fun. Not..fun...at...all.
Each tooth felt like it was going to shoot right out of my mouth with each sneeze...then after about the 10th sneeze, I knew what was to come, so I'd try not to sneeze...and snort..instead
, then the cold went into my eyes (sinus/tear ducts) so..everytime I sneezed, or blew my nose, snot came shooting out of my tear ducts AND my teeth felt like they were going to shoot out, so ya....glad last week....is OVER!!!!!!
Not much really going on with the teeth, front ones ache the most...I can chew a little better. I can tell my bite is changing from how I can now, get a somewhat better "chew" going with tougher foods. I have one tooth, the one next to my front left tooth, that feels like it's gonna completely fall out. When I floss, the floss literally just "falls" in there. Where once it use to be pretty hard to get in. Hope it likes it's home...and stays, cause it sure feels like it's gonna wiggle right out.
Just wondering if anyone has used that Colgate Gel Kam? For extra fluoride. They gave me some when I got my braces put on, and just wondered if it's worth it.
So it's been raining here non stop for the last 3 days...and I've been stuck inside this house with 2 small children, one of whom I'm trying to potty train...
...and as he's sitting on the "potty" ticked off at me, he gives me this great big grit smile showing all of his pearly white straight perfect teeth and informs me that......"MY...BRACES...DO...NOT...WANT...TO...POOP...ON...THE...TOLIET!!!!" Alllllllllllllrighty then
......my darling little turd....if your baby teeth are any indication of what your adult teeth are going to look like....YOU WONT NEED BRACES.

Alrighty,
So..it's day 51. 51 flippin day's since I have had...a hamburger...a steak...pretzels, chips, subway roast beef
yum yum sandwich. My teeth are feeling the need...to chew something HARD!!! But, alas...that won't happen. Not today, probably not tomorrow, and...unless GOD himself intervenes, and.. not the next day..because my teeth...are being naughty.
My bottoms have become very sensitive to any type of chewing. But...that's where I've seen the most change also
, so...give and take, give and take. My front 2 top teeth don't ache anymore, but....feel very loose if I try to pull with them. Like to bite a sandwich or a cookie...anything where I have to bite and pull...they feel like their gonna go...bloop...good...bye.
So..I am still sticking with A LOT of softer foods. My pants love it. So does the scale....I saw my brother for the first time since Christmas and he was like, "holy smokes have you lost a lot of weight"...I was like..."yep...the braces diet"....(oh ya, that and I've been walking 6 miles a day). The 2 combined....seem to do very well together.
Strangely, my jaw isn't hurting/clicking as much. Don't know if that's suppose to be doing that this quickly, but I'll take it. My whole jaw/teeth sit differently. Somewhat more comfortably. Kinda nice.
What with this journey somewhat still new....I'm very anxiously curious to find out what else will change and how amazed I'll be, cause to tell you the truth...I didn't think I would be "stunned" by anything till the end....and it's AWESOME
...being amazed by changes...this early already. It's like a freakin Christmas present every...damn...day. I must have been one good girl last year!

woohoo! to movement. I feel you on the losing weight. I eat tons of soups. I can't bite into anything because my front teeth feel so weak so i have to tear everything apart. I haven't eaten a burger since braces and yesterday was my first day eating a sandwhich, which by the way the bread gets every where definietly not something I'd in public. lol. I miss a lot of foods but I love how skinny I am starting to feel especialy with 45 of cardio 5 days out of the week.
I haven't seen any major changes hopefully by the time i hit a month and twoo weeks I'll notice something my first adjustment is 2 weeks a way.

WOW! When you break your treatment time down into days, it really does sound like a long time! I think I'm on day 120 now, and can definitely relate to a couple of things you're going through. Several of my teeth are loose right now and it sucks to bite into anything hard. I tried to eat a bagel yesterday. It hurt so much to chew (especially w/ the spacers) that I barely finished half. Yea, the braces diet... I've lost a couple of pounds myself!
Your adventures with potty training sound hilarious!

Congrats on your twizzler!

Ok, so I have an adjustment in 5 days...and...I'M FREAKING OUT
After the way the last one went, I'm wondering if I should put some Vodka in a water bottle and be on my way. Wonder how many advil I can take at one time and still function??
Ya, not looking forward to it...at...all. Don't get me wrong, totally excited to get a thicker wire...hopefully....new ligs...hmmm maybe I'll do green, or better yet, red, white and blue for the 4th of July.
Excited to post some more pictures afterwords and show my movement. My bottom 4 are all almost in line. Totaly...spankin...cool
.
My bottom lip has started catching on my braces..on the sides, so I know something fun and exciting is going on in my mouth
...just wish the party wouldn't go on when I'm trying to talk. Like, to my kids teacher. I sound like a dork. Like I've been drinking, having to say the same word over...many times. Yep..not fun. Oh well, at least they'll remember me, right? "Kennedy's mom...oh ya, she's a drunk"....
No...not a drunk..just a brace face!!!!
