Hey BiP--

Ya, I'm beginning to think that we won't be eating normal until these are off...it's either my top teeth or my bottom teeth that react--one or the other--all the time--even something like a soft roll. So, I just get the food smaller and stick it in the back of my mouth...biting into something--ahhh, those were the days.

You can get wax at the store--I really like Mack's ear plug wax-silicone-it's softer than the ortho wax and really sticks.
I wouldn't use anything else. In fact, the ortho wax was so hard that I just dumped it right away.

Do you think about your braces like ALL the time? I wish I wasn't so hyper aware. I'm like--wow, maybe I'm just not busy enough to get them off my mind...but I work tons--overtime every week. I hike with friends, and visit. And my husband keeps me busy too. But the braces are still in the back of my mind--all the time. I hope it gets better. I'm tired of thinking about them so much! And I always am googling a question I have about them. ARRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!

Hey klobird!
Yes, braces is like the topic that is always subconsciously in my mind. I just can't afford to get food stuck in the wires...once it does, I would go to the bathrooms and have like a cleaning marathon :P I am really glad that you have got your braces almost the same time as me, good to have a braces buddy :)

It has been almost 2 days since my first adjustment. Once skeptical when those who had braces I talked to said that the tightness and pain on teeth would only last for 1-3 days after adjustments, I now believe them. This morning I could pretty much eat cereal and stuff without having to mash them up. So apart from the ulcers that keep on appearing from my cheek scratching on my brackets. The pain is minimal

Maybe my ortho just has a thing about doing everything real slow...I don't get my 1st adjustment until 3 months later, and I don't get the heavy inflexible stainless steel wire until around Christmas...when I get the d#m^ forsus. At this rate, I will be in braces for the rest of my life!! But I'm glad to hear that it's not so bad...

I did have spacers in the beginning--6 of them--and had zeerrroooo pain...That's what worries me. They are putting the ones in that they couldn't get in the first time around. I do have some molar bands--but I'm getting more, so they can hook more fun stuff in there, I guess.

Well, I'm going to my blog to really b*tch about my braces!!

Hey klobird, wow your ortho is really going slowly - probably because you are getting a lot of appliances??? This month would be my second and last month in 'light wires' and next month, apparently would be the time of torture....ah spacers, you were soo lucky- they really were the most painful things in the world, the rubber ones, not the metal ones. Wait, you are getting more molar bands, wow! What I don't get is you and I both have molar bands, but some people only have molar brackets (that attaches to teeth like a normal bracket, but much larger), do you know why??

Hey BiP,

Well, the understanding that I have about the molar bands is that if you have crowns in the back, or big fillings, the brackets won't stick to them well enough to hold the force of the archwire. I guess they possibly could come detached.
And yes, I am going to have a couple of appliances that I know of, unless, well, maybe if he's going this slow, maybe he's waiting to see if the overjet will move in enough so I won't need it...wishful thinking...Oh ya, and I do know that things move slower when you're older like me.

Hey, have you noticed that it's getting easier to clean your teeth? I'm getting through flossing much more quickly, and the whole process is just getting so much easier than it was in the beginning....

Hey klobird,

ya, the cleaning is getting easier and it is easier to get the floss between the teeth without having to pull...Funny, I only have one filling at the back?! It would probably look weird with 1 molar band and like 3 other molar brackets :P I am loving and hating braces at the moment. I was cleaning my teeth this morning and I discovered 3-4 spaces in the bottom row of my teeth which were slightly overcrowded before...if only those teeth would hurry up and move and close the gaps!

Regarding the molar bands vs brackets on the last molars. Not sure why the orthos put on the different ones but I have the brackets on my molars and they are crowns. Have had them on since January and so far they have not come off. :)

OMG bracer!! I chose the EXACT same ticker!!! WEIRD---the thing is all we can get are the words and symbols shown below. My friend is going to come back in the am to try to get it on my blog...with my pics...

So, BiP, I just ate my brains out--a hamburger, potato chips, pickles, pop,a KitKat candy bar, more chips,2 chocolate graham crackers--I think that's it---I have NEVER snacked like I have since I got the braces on. It's almost like I'm testing how far I can go and what it will do, and also a reaction to the new stress of braces....Oh ya, a friend and I went hiking today and afterward stopped at Dairy Queen where I got a big MooLatte---a mocha coffee ice cream shake with whip cream and chocolate syrup on it---yummmmmmmyyyyyyy---and then I check my weight every morning...oh, oh!!!!!!!! I'm in trouble now!!! I have a weight limit and if I go above it, then I have to stop the craziness--think that's going to be tomorrow!!!

klobird, I am so so jealous right now!! Ah I can't bite with my front teeth since the adjustment = no hard chewy stuff for me again. I think I have the damon braces....I am guessing the ones from Unitek 3M are self-aligned..since I went on to their site. Apparently damon moves teeth faster?? Ticker YAY you finally got it...did u tick the box - 'attach signature'??? that might be the problem, cause it happened to me before.

Braces215 - thanks! I think it must be the ortho's preference??
