I have two weeks until my next adjustment and feel like nothing is happening. I have one very sore molar but I am starting to think maybe it is something more than braces pain but maybe not. Guess time will tell!
I feel like my front teeth are looking worse than ever - they have always been my straightest teeth and now one is shorter than the other and sticking out more than the other. ~sigh~. I guess what they say is true... Sometimes it gets worse before it gets better.
Sometime between going to bed last night and waking up this morning I chipped one of my back molars.... it is hardly visible but my tongue feels it every time I touch it. I know my bite is off and I was having a weird dream last night, so maybe I was grinding my teeth a lot? Oh well! I guess I will ask the ortho about it at my adjustment on Monday...unless it starts bothering me, then I will call my dentist.
In other news... I have developed a new appreciation for fruit smoothies and I'm near obsessed with making them! Today I made a date pineapple banana smoothie for breakfast and it was SO good! I've been trying to figure out why I didn't make them when my teeth were so tender in those first few weeks!
Had my 4th adjustment today. I got a wire change on top to what feels like a heavy duty wire compared to the others I've had (the ortho called it a 16 / 22 !?!). I have figure 8's on top And he also engaged the brackets on #7s on for the first time.
Bottom wire stayed the same, and got figure 8's there too.
Oh! I also got rubberbands... Have to wear them 10 hours a day (so basically in the evenings and while sleeping.
Hope the new set up brings about some changes!

Great progress!!! Your teeth look nice and straight already.
I wish you good luck with your rubber bands! That is great that you don't need to wear them 24 hours a day, as most of us have to do.
How is the correction of your crossbite going? Do you also have crossbite elastics?
Thanks Anna, I still have a lot of issues with crowding on the bottom, but I'm trying to remain hopeful that it can be fixed without extractions.
These are the first elasticits I have had, so nothing for cross bite. He hasn't mentioned a cross bite and visually I don't notice the slight one I had anymore.
He said these elastics will help my bite get better.
It's been a few hours now since my adjustment and my head is hurting from the teeth pressure. Gotta go buy some Advil!
I am sorry to hear that you are in pain now, hopefully it is getting better soon. And hopefully the great results will be worth the pain!
I also hope your crowding can be fixed without extractions, fingers crossed! And how great that your crossbite is not noticable anymore, that is great progress!
Well, it's been 3 days since my adjustment and my teeth are sure letting me know about it! The 7's that they engaged in the wire this time are so tender. I was primarily using my back molars to do all of my chewing as my front teeth are all so sensitive, and now I can't chew on my molars because I hit those and it's like - ouch!!!
On a good note, I am learning to make lots of new smoothie concoctions and have even made a few green smoothies...amazingly not gross! HA!
I am NOT adjusting well to the elastics. I feel like I can't open my mouth at all and can hardly even talk with them in, oh and it feels like they are going to rip my teeth right out of my head if I do try to open my mouth.

Braces have been an awesome way to experience new foods and get creative with food!

I wish I could say they would get better for you but I don't know---I've had elastics for 5 weeks and the pain has moved from the teeth to the facial bones and jaw. It feels like my face is changing shape and actually it's becoming easier to breath through my nose!
Hope you have better luck with the elastics, if not, then all I can say is this all is temporary! HA.

Yes, experimenting with my smoothies has been fun. Today I had a strawberry, pineapple, banana, spinach smoothie sweetened with dates. Yummy!
Last night was my 3rd night in the elastics, I Think I might be grinding my teeth more than usual, or clenching my jaw, I wake up with horrible jaw pain all night long.

Yes, at least it's only 2+ more years...
I love my smoothies as well!
I am sooo worried about elastics! I am a clencher already- and I can only imagine what elastics will do to that whole process!! UGH!!

I am just glad it's only at nighttime for me (right now), I don't know if I will be able to wear them during the day at work.... guess I will cross that bridge when I get to it! But, I can barely talk with them in and just so uncomfortable.
